Lake Havasu State Park encompasses this established campground along the Colorado River, managed by Arizona State Parks and open year-round. The campground accommodates RVs up to 125 feet with electric and water hookups at sites ranging from $50-139 per night, though campers note rough access conditions that can challenge arrivals.
Sites spread across open terrain directly beside the lake, with beachfront spots commanding premium rates but offering immediate water access. Tara S. explains the campground "caters to motor boats, and people with lots of toys," reflecting the heavy recreational boat traffic that dominates summer months. The park includes a designated section for walk-up campers who prefer avoiding reservations, featuring a large parking area with dedicated camping spaces and picnic tables.
Boat launches, swimming areas, and sandy beaches provide direct lake access for fishing, kayaking, and water sports. The campground maintains flush toilets, warm showers, and dump stations, with staff consistently praised for cleanliness and friendliness. However, reviewers consistently mention the complete lack of shade across sites and significant boat engine fumes during peak usage periods. Cell coverage remains strong throughout the park.
Winter and spring visits offer relief from extreme heat and reduced crowds, as Shawn A. found temperatures reaching "65 to 70 degrees" during February stays. The campground sits within walking distance of Lake Havasu City restaurants and services. Reservations are strongly recommended for weekend stays, particularly beachfront sites that fill quickly.
This campground works best for RV travelers with water toys seeking convenient lake access and full hookups, though tent campers may find the exposed terrain and RV-focused atmosphere less appealing than nearby BLM alternatives.
