Exceeded expectations

90% chance of rain was the forecast.  We journeyed on thinking the views would be limited.  Okay, it rained three times that day - all for about an hour each.  The rest of the time was sunny with unbelievable spectacular views.  The campground and its general store was everything we could have wanted (except electric hookup).  Taking the Transept Trail from the campground (Entrance between sites 15 & 16) to the lodge was a great golden nuggets we got from the Ranger.  For years I've said "If you don't believe in a higher being you have to visit the South Island of New Zealand."  Little did I know there's a place much closer to home…..This is IT!!!!

Wow!!

Booked a campsite a week ago for a Friday night on recreation.gov.  $20 and close to the river (away from the main road).  What a spectacular place; surrounded by majestic peaks.  It's mid-August and the temperature was in the low seventies in the day and retreated to the cozy mid-sixties during the night - and quiet.  Internet was great and the park was very clean.  The Ranger was very polite and well informed.  A half dozen deer strolled through our site at dusk.

Yosmite Jewel

Reserved the site on-line and later discovered it would not acccommodate a trailer larger than 12'.  Upon arriving I discovered the site was not a back-in; but, was alongside the loop road bounded by boulders.  No problem with pulling my 19' trailer in towed by a large SUV. Whew.

The rangers were awesome with information and wanting to make our stay memorable.

This was a very quiet spot. During our 6 night stay we never had more than one other site used in the entire loop.  It was probably due to the restriction of "only self contained RV's" being allowed during the bathroom reconstructions this year.

A couple of notes:

There IS a dump station down the road in Wawona.  Take a left before the bridge.  Go to the end and it's hidden on the left side.

My Verizon hot spot worked great here - even for streaming

Quiet Yosemite jewel

Booked Loop B site 36 - on-line said it wouldn't take a trailer larger than 12'.  1st - it isn't a 'back-in site.  You pull in along the roadside bounded by boulders for your site.  I pulled in with my 19' trailer, towed by a large SUV without a problem.

We were here six nights and never had more than one other trailer in the entire loop.

Yes - right now you have to be fully self contained because the rest rooms are under renovation.  That was no problem for us.

Although I haven't seen reviews specify a dump site, Wawona has one.  It's on the way to town - left turn before the bridge and head to the end of the short road hidden on the left.

Much to our surprise my Verizon hot spot worked fine - even for streaming.

Oh - the Rangers were MORE than helpful.

If this is your first time in Yosemite (as it was ours) the speed limit of 35mph is real.  Pulling a rig any faster on some of this curves would be crazy - and the number one cause of bear deaths in the park is the automobile……just sayin

Great State Park

Made reservations for one of the sites facing the Lake (#40).  Checked in (by giving last name) with a wonderfully nice and helpful staff member.  50 and 30 Amp service along with water hook up.  Even cement pad with a picnic table to the side.  Since it was 112 degrees the 50 foot walk to the waters edge and a quick dip was the refreshing needed.  Wet Monkey boat rentals is located right at the park.  The London Bridge is about 2 miles South.

This is a great location when visiting Havasu City

Wow!!!

Upon checking in at the West Gate I was told our 19' might be too long for the campground; but, may fit in #1-7.  No problem in any of those sites for the Trailer and car.

Weather forecast was for the mid-90's; but the high altitude breeze in the shade was very pleasant.  Right before dusk 6 mountain goats came sauntering right through our site.

This is a GORGEOUS park.

Oh - no cell service, water, electric
