Hikers and waterfall enthusiasts will find Natural Falls State Park Campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the park's signature 77-foot Dripping Springs waterfall and 4.5 miles of trails. The campground sits near the Oklahoma-Arkansas border in Colcord, featuring separate RV and tent camping areas within open terrain that offers easy access to the park's main attractions.
The RV section provides 26 sites with electric and water hookups, with about six sites also offering sewer connections. Sites vary considerably in size and spacing—Donna H. notes "there are no bad spots in this beautiful park," though several campers recommend the more spacious sites 3, 4, and 11-14 for extra room. The separate tent area sits in a grassy section with fire rings, grills, and picnic tables, though sites lack defined boundaries and privacy between neighbors.
Campers can explore multiple hiking trails leading to viewpoints above the waterfall and down to the creek below, where wildlife sightings include river otters. The park also features disc golf, volleyball, basketball courts, and catch-and-release fishing opportunities. A single bathhouse serves both camping areas with restrooms and showers that campers consistently describe as clean and well-maintained by the camp host.
Access requires navigating some rough park roads, and weekend crowds can be substantial due to the park's popularity as a day-use destination. A nearby speedway occasionally creates noise issues on race nights, particularly affecting sites closer to the road. The park charges a $5 day-use fee included in camping costs, and advance online registration activates vehicle passes at 9 AM on arrival day. Campers seeking additional options in the region can explore campgrounds near Colcord for different settings and amenities.
Reserve ahead for weekend stays, especially during peak seasons when the combination of RV and tent campers fills the compact facility quickly.
