Located just two hours’ drive east of Seattle, this campground lies at the edge of central Washington’s high desert scablands. These small recreation areas along the shore of Wanapum Lake, on the mighty Columbia River, showcase the area’s dramatic landscape, and preserve the fossilized remains of a prehistoric forest buried by an ancient lava flow. Some of the many activities available at these two locations include hiking, swimming, boating, fishing, camping and wildlife watching.

The campground at Wanapum offers 50 large, full-hookup sites for RV and tent campers. Sites are mostly open and grassy, with a few spare trees for shade and wind protection; all are equipped with picnic tables and cooking grills. The camp area has two vault toilets, a boat ramp, a shaded picnic area, and a sandy beach. This area is susceptible to high winds, so tents and awnings should be firmly secured. Dogs are permitted, but should remain leashed, as there are rattlesnakes in the area. The campground is open from March through October. Sites are first-come, first-served, but reservations are recommended in the summer season. Seasonal rates are $30–$50/night.

Just a few miles north of the recreation area, Ginkgo Petrified Forest preserves a unique fossil discovery that was revealed during highway construction in the 1930s: the remains of an ancient forest turned to stone. The park features an air-conditioned visitor center, restrooms, picnic areas, a boat launch, and lake viewpoints. Nearby, the 1-mile Trees of Stone interpretive trail winds through the fossilized forest, where visitors can see more than 20 specimens of petrified trees, in addition to erratic boulders deposited by ancient glacial floods. Common wildlife seen in the area include deer, elk, bighorn sheep and coyotes. Check park website for operating seasons and hours.

    Free Farm Fresh Eggs

Come and enjoy the big sky and open spaces on our Central Washington homestead. From your campsite you will be able to sit and enjoy the breathtaking sunsets and view of the Cascade Mountains to the West. At night you will only need to look up into the sky to clearly spot millions of stars. You will also be given farm fresh eggs to enjoy with a meal.

We offer all sorts of experiences from feeding and cuddling goats to star gazing with our big telescope. check out more details by clicking on one of out camp sites

On our homestead, you can visit the chickens and goats. Enjoy the walking trail right on our property or ride your bikes. Kids will have plenty of room to run, play and picnic. Children are also welcome to set up their own tent for a night of parent free fun. If in season, you can explore the garden.

With a short drive you will find seasonal hunting, fishing, biking, hiking (Beezley Hill), lakes, golf, mini golf, water park, bowling, casino, and a good selection of restaurants. There are also two Walmarts near by for any of your needs. During the Summer there is also a delightful farmers market in Moses Lake in McCosh Park.

A little farther and you will find natural pools at Potholes State Park, Soap Lake, Coulee Dam, and Lake Lenore Caves. There are also the DUNES with lake access.

Attending the Grant County Fair? We are only an 8 minute drive from the fair grounds gates. Enjoy the hustle and bustle of the fair and enjoy and evening of peace and quiet under the stars.

Interesting fact: Our homestead is located on the McConihe Flats. 1200 years ago the Sinkiuse Indians would meet on the McConihe Flats and trade. They would also collect things along the shore of the lake such, as duck eggs and reeds, which are still around today.

Conveniently located between Moses Lake and Ephrata Washington. Only 12 minutes from either town where you can find Walmart and other stores for all your needs.

***Our campsites and the majority of the property is accessible by wheel chair. The ground does have rocks on it. The bathroom can not fit a wheel chair and the lower part of the walking path would not be wheel chair accessible.

Charming and peaceful - Olivia V.

We had a lovely stay at Christine’s place on our drive across the country. She was nice enough to gift us with fresh eggs once we arrived! She told us about their property and let us roam on our own to meet the dogs, goats and friendly cat. It was peaceful and comforting to hang out and watch the sunset there. The outhouse is very clean-with cute charm too! I would recommend this stay to anyone going through the area. We are so grateful for hosts like Christine!

Great first experience! - Calvin L.

Our family of four stayed at site three for one night and boondocked with our travel trailer. The sunset views that night were incredible and we got to watch a lightning storm off in the distance. The hosts were very gracious and showed us around the garden, we got to meet the two goats and dogs, and we experienced the chicken coup where we received fabulous fresh eggs from earlier in the morning. It was a great experience and we highly recommend staying here.
