Best Campgrounds near Somerset, VA

I would call this a primitive campground as there is no water or electric hookups at the campsites. There is potable water at several locations throughout the campground that you can fill up your RV fresh water tank or a jug if you are tent camping. I was there in August of 2024 for two nights and throughly enjoyed my stay. Their are flush toilets and showers available and they were kept clean. I plan on returning in 2025.

I intend to go back again in 2025 as the campsites are nice as well as some great hiking trails. A great place to camp for folks of all ages.

This campground is underrated! Found this place by accident. Don’t let the name fool you, this place is the largest camp resort in the area. It has everything even a small grocery store.

Awesome, plenty of bathrooms; quarter showers, camp store, campground is very large! If you go during popular times of year it will be crowded at the campground so if you’re looking for a more isolated experience this might not be the best spot!

I tent camped for one night at the start of Easter weekend. Lots and lots of folks about, but still enough space to NOT feel encroached upon. Level grass spot for a tent, fairly level paved parking area if car camping, picnic table, fire ring with grill grate. I was on the no generator loop, but in a non electric site (vs tent walk in type). Warm bathrooms, utility sinks in several, pay hot showers, lots of greenery. I will visit again! NO Verizon cell service at all!

Booked last minute on a Wednesday night they had two openings. Sites are very spacious and good distance between other campers. Nice privacy. Large Bath house dump stations were great. Some sites were very level. We were on site seven which was very long but very unlevel. .

This is our second stay here. It is quiet and always clean, pet and family friendly. Trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. And if that’s not enough, you can go down to the river and fish, kayak/canoe or go boating.

First time camping in any part of Virginia, very nice and clean campground, not too much outside noise besides the random car driving on the one road near by. The Brewery itself is far enough away you don’t hear anything going on there unless there’s live music, they make some very good beer though. All around great views from our specific site of the mountains. Will be going back.

Getting a premium tent spot allowed us to arrive late and already be checked in. We had an amazing view. Bathrooms very clean. Short walk the brewery. The only negative was you’re not allowed to bring your own wood and it’s cash only, no atm’s on site, it would have been nice to scan a barcode to pay for the wood if there wasn’t someone there to take card payments. Will definitely return.
