Big beautiful dog run area with a waterfall. This would be a great long term or a it’s a very easy on off expressway stop. High recommend

Dry Hollow Campground — Echo State Park

    Right by the lake

We are at a spot that is on a cement loop (#1) which was unlevel and it is not next to the lake but closer to the road (which is not too busy) but a view of the lake. You get a nice covered pavilion with a steel picnic table and fire ring with grate for grilling. The camp host was very sweet. Most of the sites are pull through and accommodates big rigs very well. The park managers keep it clean.

    Golden Spike RV Park

Great RV Spot Close to the Interstate

This an wonderful medium sized RV campground that is totally locally owned so you know your stay will go towards benefiting local families!  That and given its proximity to the Interstate make it the closest and easiest RV campground to get to near Brigham City/Perry.  It is a perfect stopping point if you're looking at having all the comforts of home before heading into the mountains or into the towns nearby.  Amenities include a full laundry and bathroom in addition to cable TV and Wi-Fi.  They owners are on the property year round and is a very safe place to stay.  There are 38 sites that have 30 and 50 amp hookup options in addition to water.  Definitely visit this RV campground over the nearby KOA as it supports local businesses!!!

If you want to spend time out in nature there is the nearby Bird Refuge, and Great Salt Lake.  To the north and northwest of here there lies the amazing Devils Playground and the namesake of the campground which is the Golden Spike National Historic Site in which the rail lines from the east and west met.  To the east there are numerous canyons to choose from in case the days are too sweltering hot to stay in the valleys

    Tanners Flat

Good location for exploring Wasatch Mountains and Salt Lake City

You really need to know this: No dogs are allowed because this campground is in the Salt Lake City watershed.

And this: As inviting as the water running through the campground may look, you are not allowed to swim, wade or wash in it.

One more thing: Gate closes at 10 pm although that didn't stop some partiers at the next site in from us. They partied and left around 11 or so. There was no payment tag on the post. The exit is open but has tire shredders if you enter over them.

A pleasant surprise at a Forest Service campground: 10 lbs of ice for $2! (There was also the usual bundle of firewood for $6.)

An unpleasant surprise: Old, dirty bathrooms. I've seen cleaner vault toilets elsewhere than these flush toilets.

There is no water for now (July 2018) in bathroom sinks or at spigots. The host said something about a pipe issue and water needing to be tested. That covers the amenities other than dumpsters.

What about the sites? We arrived on a Sunday morning when the host was putting up signs indictating which sites were reserved. We had 3 possible sites among 1 through 19 and grabbed #9, a pull through site with a buffer between the road in the parking/small RV area.

Sites in the other area (higher numbers) were becoming available, but that area's host said many of the sites were only appropriate for tents.

Our site #9: There are a few steps down to the picnic table, fire ring and grill plus a separate area to the left for a tent. See photos.

    General site info:

    • Some sites have a concrete pad for the picnic table, etc.

    • Many sites have an area for the tent that is away from the picnic table and concealed from the road.

Guide to West Point

RV camping near West Point, Utah offers varying levels of accessibility to the Wasatch Mountains, with elevations ranging from 4,250 to 4,500 feet across most sites. The area experiences four distinct seasons, with summer temperatures often reaching the mid-90s and winter nights frequently dropping below freezing. Most RV parks in this region maintain gravel or concrete pads and stay open year-round despite seasonal weather fluctuations.

What to do

Water recreation access: Echo Island RV Resort sits between two small rivers and near Echo Reservoir, making it ideal for fishing and kayaking. "Beautiful setting on two small rivers with shade. Full hookups, spacious sites. Nice pool and hot tub," notes one visitor who appreciated the dual water access.

Fishing opportunities: Riverside RV Resort provides direct river access for fishing enthusiasts. "It has a walking trail that runs along the Weber river and a dog run on the eastern part of the property," according to one camper who stayed there in April. The Weber River offers trout fishing within walking distance of many sites.

Mountain biking trails: Several campgrounds offer proximity to mountain biking routes. "There is a trailhead right down the road that is along the Weber River. Mountain bike or hike, you will have a good time," mentions a Riverside RV Resort guest who visited in June.

What campers like

Pool and hot tub facilities: Pony Express RV Resort features well-maintained aquatic amenities. "Nice bathhouses with private shower/toilets. Wifi and cable. Great play area. Bikes available including kid sized. Paved 80 mile bike trail along Jordan River. Giant chessboard. Nice pool area," reports a visitor who enjoyed the recreational options.

Level concrete pads: Aspen Grove RV Park receives high marks for its site quality and layout. "Huge full hookup sites with concrete pads. Nice and quiet despite being near the intersection of I-15 and I-84," notes a reviewer who appreciated the thoughtful design. Another camper adds, "Large sites, lots of space and very clean!"

Dog-friendly amenities: Multiple campgrounds cater to pet owners with designated areas. "Three dog parks and dog washing bay," mentions a visitor to Pony Express RV Resort. Another camper at Valley View RV Resort shares, "The amenities are incredible and we had a blast enjoying the pool and doggy areas."

What you should know

Highway noise considerations: Most RV parks in the region experience some level of traffic noise. "Century RV Park is right off the I-15 freeway in Ogden. Great desk staff. Good prices. Great option if you just need an overnight," explains one reviewer, noting the proximity to transportation.

Seasonal variations in facilities: Pool access and other amenities may change with seasons. "The bottom level also had nice grassy areas for kids to play in. Bring your fishing pole as they do let you fish in the creek," advises a Park City RV Resort visitor who noted that "the bottom level by the creek, with mostly partial hookups, looking the most attractive. It was closed for the winter as of Oct 9th though."

Site spacing differences: Space between RVs varies significantly between parks. "Clean restrooms and showers, good wifi with a pleasant little store and the big dog park was a welcome surprise. Only problem was the tight cramped spots," mentions one Century RV Park visitor, highlighting a common concern.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Lagoon RV Park & Campground provides amenities specifically for children. "This campground is fairly good sized with a lot of fully grown trees. It has 2 bathroom facilities. There is a small stream in back and we were greeted by 2 peacocks in the morning," notes one visitor who camped with family.

Swimming options: Echo Island RV Resort offers multiple swimming areas for children. "Several pools although only 2 currently open but heated! Lovely stream on property where you can fish and low mountains on several sides," shares a camper who visited with children, noting the variety of water activities available.

Wildlife viewing: Several parks offer opportunities to observe local wildlife. At Lagoon RV Park & Campground, one camper reported, "At night we were also visited by raccoons so make sure you have everything put away before you head to bed." This provides both entertainment and educational opportunities for children.

Tips from RVers

After-hours check-in: Love's RV Stop in Brigham City provides secure late arrivals. "Private RV secured area with RV laundry and shower facilities. Private fenced in dog parks in RV area separate from gas station. Showers are included in price of stay," notes one RVer who appreciated the security features.

Dump station availability: Many campgrounds offer sanitary dump facilities, but availability and fees vary. "Justin with 686 RV stop maintenance we apologize but our contact number is 435-732-1789 and when prompted select #2," shares a Love's RV Stop employee, highlighting their responsiveness to questions about dump station use.

Spot selection strategies: At Riverside RV Resort, a visitor advises, "The only thing I didn't like—the security/motion lights are stadium-bright and when they turn on & off in the middle of the night it is so hard to adjust your eyes back to the dark." Consider requesting spots away from security lighting if you're sensitive to bright lights.
