Best RV Parks & Resorts near Wanship, UT

Several RV parks near Wanship provide full-hookup accommodations for motorhomes and travel trailers. Echo Island RV Resort in Coalville features 185 sites with electric, water, and sewer connections, accommodating large rigs with both 30 and 50-amp service. "We are really big rig, so you have to be careful what site you pick if you're super sized like we are, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay," noted one camper about Echo Island. Holiday Hills RV Park, also in Coalville, offers year-round access with full hookups and big rig friendly sites. Park City RV Resort, located approximately 15 miles south of Wanship, maintains 71 sites with varying pad types—some concrete with grass areas and others all-gravel—though reviews indicate the sites can be extremely close together with limited space for slide-outs.

Mountain Valley RV Resort in Heber City provides premium RV sites with concrete pads and spacious layouts, particularly in their adult-only section. Between spring and fall, most parks operate at full capacity, while winter access may be limited by mountain road conditions and snow removal schedules. Cell service varies throughout the region, with stronger signals at lower elevation parks. According to reviews, Park City RV Resort has implemented restrictions against camper vans and car camping, focusing exclusively on traditional RVs. Dump stations are available at most parks, though some charge additional fees. Many parks enforce strict rules regarding campfires, with several prohibiting wood fires but allowing propane fire pits. Pet policies differ significantly—most parks welcome pets but maintain designated dog areas and enforce leash requirements.

    Mountain Shadows RV Park

    Perfect overnight stay for us

We are a 40 foot with a tow. We only stayed here over night as we were passing through. Place was clean, friendly staff, spacious sites, ours had nice grass, dog friendly. Big beautiful dog run area with a waterfall. This would be a great long term or a it’s a very easy on off expressway stop. High recommend

    Washington Lake Campground

A very popular, family friendly, beautiful campground.

We stayed for 7 nights (the limit) in August of 2023. It's all paved, asphalt road and concrete pad for picnic table. Very beautiful setting with the large lake and mountains surrounding. Fishing-yes! Hand powered boating, hiking trails and lots of other lakes to explore.

There no water available but you can fill your RV, Trailer or whatever at the entrance to the Lost Creek CG which is about 3 miles east on Hwy 150. No Dump station, nearest being in Kamas.

Seems to be a popular place for local (SLC) families to gather. Family friendly so lots of kids. Quiet time 10PM to 6AM.

Dry Hollow Campground — Echo State Park

    Right by the lake

We are at a spot that is on a cement loop (#1) which was unlevel and it is not next to the lake but closer to the road (which is not too busy) but a view of the lake. You get a nice covered pavilion with a steel picnic table and fire ring with grate for grilling. The camp host was very sweet. Most of the sites are pull through and accommodates big rigs very well. The park managers keep it clean.

Chokecherry Campground — Deer Creek State Park

    Decent state park

Camped here last minute while driving through. Well-run, easy check in, reasonably priced.

There are both primitive tent and RV sites with hookups. Small to large sites, back-in and a few pull through. Lots of trees and lilac bushes offer some privacy.

Fire rings, plus BBQ grills, picnic tables at each site. Centrally located bathrooms were clean. Water, trash and dump station by entrance.

The campground is on an incline so there are decent views of the reservoir from just about anywhere and the mountain backdrop to the east. Small but clean beach. There was also ziplining and kayak rentals at the state park but both were closed due to COVID.

    Would camp here again.

    Lodgepole Campground

Lodgepole Campground - Group Site B

Nice basic campground just coming out of Heber City, UT on your way to Strawberry Reservoir. This is a fairly large campground with numerous sites. The group site parking was shallow. We could barely fit our 19 ft travel trailer and our truck. Outside of the group site it appears there are deeper sites that could accommodate a long fifth wheel. Parking space is wide enough to park another car next to trailer. There are a few tent sites as around the group site pavilion.

No hookups for RV’s. Dump station on site for $10 fee. RV spots are back in only. There is running water and flushable toilets on site; however, the water line was under repair and not turned on during our stay. It sounds like the repairs have been going on for a long time.

There is cellular service, but it’s a little slow. I have sprint carrier and had service.

Negatives: The campground is close a highway incline/decline which is frequented by Semi’s which bring lots of noise to the campground throughout the day and into the night.

Stinging Nettle: lots of stinging nettle located around group site B, so stay on the paths as much as possible.

    Hill AFB FamCamp

    Cute little spot

Great amenities, dog park, showers, laundry. Stayed here long term a couple times and it’s always a great stay! Close to the park, splash pad, and track. Hosts are pleasant. A little close together but good for being on base.

    Tanners Flat

Good location for exploring Wasatch Mountains and Salt Lake City

You really need to know this: No dogs are allowed because this campground is in the Salt Lake City watershed.

And this: As inviting as the water running through the campground may look, you are not allowed to swim, wade or wash in it.

One more thing: Gate closes at 10 pm although that didn't stop some partiers at the next site in from us. They partied and left around 11 or so. There was no payment tag on the post. The exit is open but has tire shredders if you enter over them.

A pleasant surprise at a Forest Service campground: 10 lbs of ice for $2! (There was also the usual bundle of firewood for $6.)

An unpleasant surprise: Old, dirty bathrooms. I've seen cleaner vault toilets elsewhere than these flush toilets.

There is no water for now (July 2018) in bathroom sinks or at spigots. The host said something about a pipe issue and water needing to be tested. That covers the amenities other than dumpsters.

What about the sites? We arrived on a Sunday morning when the host was putting up signs indictating which sites were reserved. We had 3 possible sites among 1 through 19 and grabbed #9, a pull through site with a buffer between the road in the parking/small RV area.

Sites in the other area (higher numbers) were becoming available, but that area's host said many of the sites were only appropriate for tents.

Our site #9: There are a few steps down to the picnic table, fire ring and grill plus a separate area to the left for a tent. See photos.

    General site info:

    • Some sites have a concrete pad for the picnic table, etc.

    • Many sites have an area for the tent that is away from the picnic table and concealed from the road.
