Best RV Parks & Resorts near Wallsburg, UT

Several RV parks surround Wallsburg, Utah, providing convenient access to the region's outdoor attractions. Mountain Valley RV Resort in Heber City, just 15 miles northwest of Wallsburg, offers full hookup sites with 50-amp service and concrete pads spacious enough for large motorhomes. Knotty Pine RV Resort in Kamas features 98 sites with both 30 and 50-amp electrical connections, operating seasonally from April through October. Park City RV Resort maintains 71 year-round sites with full hookups, though spaces can be tight during peak seasons. "Really nice RV resort near Interstate. Pull throughs or back in on paved level sites. Picnic table. FHU. Sites typically close with grass area separating," noted one visitor to Pony Express RV Resort, highlighting the well-maintained infrastructure common to the area's better RV parks.

For RV camping planning, most parks in the Wallsburg vicinity require reservations, especially during summer months and fall foliage season. Cell service varies throughout the region, with stronger signals at lower elevation parks and potentially spotty coverage in mountain locations. On-site dump stations are available at most established RV parks, though Gladstan Golf Course RV Park in Payson lacks this amenity. Pet policies are generally accommodating, with designated dog areas at several parks including Mountain Shadows RV Park which features "a big beautiful dog run area with a waterfall." Propane service can be found at nearby towns rather than at the campgrounds themselves. Road access to most RV sites is straightforward, though travelers with larger rigs should check specific route recommendations when heading to parks at higher elevations.

    Canyon View RV Park

Just a parking lot, but in a beautiful park/awesome walk/bike trail!

First come, first serve, dump station on site(back of parking lot), friendly camphost; great access to an awesome bike/walk trail, close to town& Walmart

SITE: Water and Electricity only and all amenities worked great. All sites are back in and spaced in a large parking lot. Picnic table per site in the shade under the trees by your site; level site; all concrete; the sites are close together, but it wasn't full so the RVers thoughtfully spaced out from each other; full sun

CELL SERVICE: AT&T worked great- not all bars but it worked well for use working remote and no issues with video calls using our hotspot.

OTHER: Located on the edge of Canyon View Park. The park had just closed as they prep for their annual Christmas light show, but you could still walk on the trail through the park to access the main bike/walk trail which was awesome and goes on for many miles! We loved using this everyday we were there. Bathroom in the park was really clean. Dump station is in the parking lot(super convenient) on the back side. It was super gusty, windy at night and consistent every night from about 11pm- 10am. Maybe it's just seasonal? Make sure your awning is in!

    Washington Lake Campground

A very popular, family friendly, beautiful campground.

We stayed for 7 nights (the limit) in August of 2023. It's all paved, asphalt road and concrete pad for picnic table. Very beautiful setting with the large lake and mountains surrounding. Fishing-yes! Hand powered boating, hiking trails and lots of other lakes to explore.

There no water available but you can fill your RV, Trailer or whatever at the entrance to the Lost Creek CG which is about 3 miles east on Hwy 150. No Dump station, nearest being in Kamas.

Seems to be a popular place for local (SLC) families to gather. Family friendly so lots of kids. Quiet time 10PM to 6AM.

Giant chessboard. Nice pool area. Amazing clubhouse with pool table, foosball, large TV, comfy chairs, guest kitchen area. Complimentary coffee, tea and fresh made cookies. Dry Hollow Campground — Echo State Park

    Right by the lake

We are at a spot that is on a cement loop (#1) which was unlevel and it is not next to the lake but closer to the road (which is not too busy) but a view of the lake. You get a nice covered pavilion with a steel picnic table and fire ring with grate for grilling. The camp host was very sweet. Most of the sites are pull through and accommodates big rigs very well. The park managers keep it clean.

Chokecherry Campground — Deer Creek State Park

    Decent state park

Camped here last minute while driving through. Well-run, easy check in, reasonably priced.

There are both primitive tent and RV sites with hookups. Small to large sites, back-in and a few pull through. Lots of trees and lilac bushes offer some privacy.

Fire rings, plus BBQ grills, picnic tables at each site. Centrally located bathrooms were clean. Water, trash and dump station by entrance.

The campground is on an incline so there are decent views of the reservoir from just about anywhere and the mountain backdrop to the east. Small but clean beach. There was also ziplining and kayak rentals at the state park but both were closed due to COVID.

    Would camp here again.

    Lodgepole Campground

Lodgepole Campground - Group Site B

Nice basic campground just coming out of Heber City, UT on your way to Strawberry Reservoir. This is a fairly large campground with numerous sites. The group site parking was shallow. We could barely fit our 19 ft travel trailer and our truck. Outside of the group site it appears there are deeper sites that could accommodate a long fifth wheel. Parking space is wide enough to park another car next to trailer. There are a few tent sites as around the group site pavilion.

No hookups for RV’s. Dump station on site for $10 fee. RV spots are back in only. There is running water and flushable toilets on site; however, the water line was under repair and not turned on during our stay. It sounds like the repairs have been going on for a long time.

There is cellular service, but it’s a little slow. I have sprint carrier and had service.

Negatives: The campground is close a highway incline/decline which is frequented by Semi’s which bring lots of noise to the campground throughout the day and into the night.

Stinging Nettle: lots of stinging nettle located around group site B, so stay on the paths as much as possible.

    Tanners Flat

Good location for exploring Wasatch Mountains and Salt Lake City

You really need to know this: No dogs are allowed because this campground is in the Salt Lake City watershed.

And this: As inviting as the water running through the campground may look, you are not allowed to swim, wade or wash in it.

One more thing: Gate closes at 10 pm although that didn't stop some partiers at the next site in from us. They partied and left around 11 or so. There was no payment tag on the post. The exit is open but has tire shredders if you enter over them.

A pleasant surprise at a Forest Service campground: 10 lbs of ice for $2! (There was also the usual bundle of firewood for $6.)

An unpleasant surprise: Old, dirty bathrooms. I've seen cleaner vault toilets elsewhere than these flush toilets.

There is no water for now (July 2018) in bathroom sinks or at spigots. The host said something about a pipe issue and water needing to be tested. That covers the amenities other than dumpsters.

What about the sites? We arrived on a Sunday morning when the host was putting up signs indictating which sites were reserved. We had 3 possible sites among 1 through 19 and grabbed #9, a pull through site with a buffer between the road in the parking/small RV area.

Sites in the other area (higher numbers) were becoming available, but that area's host said many of the sites were only appropriate for tents.

Our site #9: There are a few steps down to the picnic table, fire ring and grill plus a separate area to the left for a tent. See photos.

    General site info:

    • Some sites have a concrete pad for the picnic table, etc.

    • Many sites have an area for the tent that is away from the picnic table and concealed from the road.

Guide to Wallsburg

RV parks near Wallsburg, Utah accommodate camping needs throughout most of the year with elevation affecting seasonal availability. Located in Wasatch County at about 6,000 feet elevation, the area experiences cold winters with significant snowfall and warm summers with cool evenings. Most campgrounds within 20 miles of Wallsburg close during winter months while valley locations maintain year-round operations.

What to do

Fishing access: Echo Island RV Resort provides direct access to fishing areas, with a small pond for children and proximity to larger water bodies. "We have been coming here for years. It has a lot of trailer spots that are almost all pull throughs and have hook ups. It's fun to bring kayaks and float the river," notes one visitor at Echo Island RV Resort.

Mountain biking trails: Several trails accessible from campgrounds near Wallsburg range from beginner to advanced difficulty levels. Knotty Pine RV Resort places campers near excellent mountain access points. "We are close to hiking and off-roading without the craziness of Mirror Lake Highway," shares a visitor at Knotty Pine RV Resort.

Seasonal recreation: Winter visitors can access nearby ski areas within 30-45 minutes, while summer offers water activities. Strawberry Adventures RV provides strategic positioning for multiple activities. "Incredible recreation area along hwy 40 and discovered this gem with full hookups. A great location near the reservoir and trailheads," reports one camper.

What campers like

Clean facilities: The attention to maintenance and cleanliness receives consistent praise from visitors to campgrounds near Wallsburg. "They have a big beautiful dog run area with a waterfall," notes one camper at Mountain Shadows RV Park, highlighting the well-kept pet areas.

Swimming pools: Multiple RV parks offer pools and hot tubs for post-adventure relaxation. "The facilities are very new and always clean, nice big private restrooms with showers, two laundry facilities, two hot tubs and two pools, basketball and other gaming courts," reports a visitor at Mountain Valley RV Resort.

Spacious sites: Several parks offer larger sites with separation between neighbors. "This spacious RV park has two pools (one limited to adults only), two dog parks (one large enough for big dogs to run and fetch), two sets of pickle ball courts and is spacious and level and nice," shares one camper about their experience.

What you should know

Seasonal closures: Many campgrounds near Wallsburg operate on limited schedules. "The bottom level also had nice grassy areas for kids to play in. It was closed for the winter as of Oct 9th though," notes a visitor to Park City RV Resort.

Road noise: Some parks experience traffic noise due to proximity to highways. "Located right off the highway with full hook ups and nice paved sites. You'll need to drive to get to restaurants, grocery stores, and ~20 min drive to downtown but overall not a bad spot to camp out for a few days."

Limited dump stations: Not all parks offer on-site dump facilities. Gladstan Golf Course RV Park lacks this amenity, requiring travelers to plan accordingly. "There aren't any showers or restrooms for the campers," one visitor notes, indicating minimal facilities beyond the hook-ups.

Tips for camping with families

Pool availability: Family-friendly RV parks with swimming facilities offer welcome relief during summer months. "We were able to rent a Razor UTV on site and took a mapped out 4 hr drive through our beautiful mountains, straight out of the campground," shares a visitor about the activities at Pony Express RV Resort.

Playground options: Several campgrounds feature dedicated play areas for children. "This is a great place for kids because there's plenty of space for them to ride bikes, play basketball, swim, and also a playground. There's a section that is for adults 21 and older where children are not allowed."

Pet restrictions: While most RV campgrounds allow pets, some have size restrictions or designated areas. "If you are tent camping they do not allow you to have pets," notes a visitor at Lakeside RV Campground, highlighting important policy differences between RV and tent campers.

Tips from RVers

Water pressure variations: Some campgrounds have unusually high water pressure requiring regulators. "The spots are not level, and the water pressure is high. Make sure you have a water regulator," advises one RVer about their experience.

Campground layout concerns: Several RV parks feature tiered layouts that affect site quality. "The RV park was exactly as expected. Facilities were clean. There were alot of campers there on a more permanent basis which didn't affect my review. The staff clearly take pride in keeping the park clean for everyone."

Wi-Fi reliability: Internet connectivity varies significantly between campgrounds, even those advertising free Wi-Fi. "I was dazzled by the speed and reliability of the wifi," notes one camper, though experiences differ based on campground location and time of year.
