Best RV Parks & Resorts near Kaysville, UT

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Several RV resorts and parks serve Kaysville with full hookup options and varying site designs. Valley View RV Resort in Layton features 131 RV sites with 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections on concrete pads. Riverside RV Resort offers 92 sites with similar hookups but prohibits campfires. "Very helpful employees, clean and pet friendly. Can see mountains all around you. Great WiFi and good water," notes one camper about Pony Express RV Resort in North Salt Lake, which includes 50-amp service and accommodates large motorhomes with pull-through sites. Lagoon RV Park in Farmington provides seasonal camping from May through October with full hookups and is adjacent to the amusement park.

Advance reservations are strongly recommended during summer months and holiday weekends when these parks frequently reach capacity. Most RV resorts in the area maintain gated access with paved interior roads suitable for big rig navigation. On-site amenities vary significantly between locations—Pony Express offers multiple dog parks, shower facilities, and a clubhouse, while more basic operations provide essential services only. Dump stations are available at most parks, though Golden Spike RV Park reviewers mention occasional maintenance issues with utilities. Winter camping options are limited, with Pony Express and Valley View among the few year-round operations. A review mentioned that while sites at some parks have "level concrete pads," others may require "a little rig leveling" on slightly uneven surfaces.

Dry Hollow Campground — Echo State Park

    Right by the lake

We are at a spot that is on a cement loop (#1) which was unlevel and it is not next to the lake but closer to the road (which is not too busy) but a view of the lake. You get a nice covered pavilion with a steel picnic table and fire ring with grate for grilling. The camp host was very sweet. Most of the sites are pull through and accommodates big rigs very well. The park managers keep it clean.

    So clean

Whow…new new new facilities with all the big rigs pull thru power water sewer games dog park ice cream souvenir shops easy on and off the freeway. Close to restaurants. But a sterile walking environment. Concrete pads and all… can’t go wrong here.

Chokecherry Campground — Deer Creek State Park

    Decent state park

Camped here last minute while driving through. Well-run, easy check in, reasonably priced.

There are both primitive tent and RV sites with hookups. Small to large sites, back-in and a few pull through. Lots of trees and lilac bushes offer some privacy.

Fire rings, plus BBQ grills, picnic tables at each site. Centrally located bathrooms were clean. Water, trash and dump station by entrance.

The campground is on an incline so there are decent views of the reservoir from just about anywhere and the mountain backdrop to the east. Small but clean beach. There was also ziplining and kayak rentals at the state park but both were closed due to COVID.

    Would camp here again.

    Cute little spot

Great amenities, dog park, showers, laundry. Stayed here long term a couple times and it’s always a great stay! Close to the park, splash pad, and track. Hosts are pleasant. A little close together but good for being on base.

    Golden Spike RV Park

Great RV Spot Close to the Interstate

This an wonderful medium sized RV campground that is totally locally owned so you know your stay will go towards benefiting local families!  That and given its proximity to the Interstate make it the closest and easiest RV campground to get to near Brigham City/Perry.  It is a perfect stopping point if you're looking at having all the comforts of home before heading into the mountains or into the towns nearby.  Amenities include a full laundry and bathroom in addition to cable TV and Wi-Fi.  They owners are on the property year round and is a very safe place to stay.  There are 38 sites that have 30 and 50 amp hookup options in addition to water.  Definitely visit this RV campground over the nearby KOA as it supports local businesses!!!

If you want to spend time out in nature there is the nearby Bird Refuge, and Great Salt Lake.  To the north and northwest of here there lies the amazing Devils Playground and the namesake of the campground which is the Golden Spike National Historic Site in which the rail lines from the east and west met.  To the east there are numerous canyons to choose from in case the days are too sweltering hot to stay in the valleys

    Tanners Flat

Good location for exploring Wasatch Mountains and Salt Lake City

You really need to know this: No dogs are allowed because this campground is in the Salt Lake City watershed.

And this: As inviting as the water running through the campground may look, you are not allowed to swim, wade or wash in it.

One more thing: Gate closes at 10 pm although that didn't stop some partiers at the next site in from us. They partied and left around 11 or so. There was no payment tag on the post. The exit is open but has tire shredders if you enter over them.

A pleasant surprise at a Forest Service campground: 10 lbs of ice for $2! (There was also the usual bundle of firewood for $6.)

An unpleasant surprise: Old, dirty bathrooms. I've seen cleaner vault toilets elsewhere than these flush toilets.

There is no water for now (July 2018) in bathroom sinks or at spigots. The host said something about a pipe issue and water needing to be tested. That covers the amenities other than dumpsters.

What about the sites? We arrived on a Sunday morning when the host was putting up signs indictating which sites were reserved. We had 3 possible sites among 1 through 19 and grabbed #9, a pull through site with a buffer between the road in the parking/small RV area.

Sites in the other area (higher numbers) were becoming available, but that area's host said many of the sites were only appropriate for tents.

Our site #9: There are a few steps down to the picnic table, fire ring and grill plus a separate area to the left for a tent. See photos.

    General site info:

    • Some sites have a concrete pad for the picnic table, etc.

    • Many sites have an area for the tent that is away from the picnic table and concealed from the road.

One visitor mentions the "two sets of pickle ball courts" among the many recreational amenities, noting that the "laundry room was sparkling clean and located adjacent to the pickle ball courts and outdoor fire pits."

What campers like

Security features: Riverside RV Resort provides enhanced security for families. Claire L. appreciates that the "gated entry is a plus for me, and the staff is so kind and welcoming," making it ideal for those traveling with children.

Adult-only sections: Mountain Valley RV Resort offers separate camping areas for different demographics. "There is a section that is for adults 21 and older where children are not allowed," explains Sheila B., highlighting the option for quieter stays.

Dog-friendly facilities: Pony Express RV Resort provides multiple pet amenities. Nicole B. points out, "There is a plant nearby so it kind of smells. And there's a decent amount of road noise since it's in town," balancing the positives with honest observations about the environment.

Seasonal pool access: Lagoon RV Park offers water recreation during warmer months. Sam S. describes it as a "convenient park with everything you need from tent sites to huge pull throughs for the biggest rigs," noting its proximity to the amusement park.

What you should know

Highway noise levels: Many RV parks in the Kaysville area experience road noise. At Park City RV Resort, "You're right on the road, so I'm sure noise can be a factor," though one visitor notes that "the second tier still has full hookups but are gravel and have a bit nicer views, and road noise is blocked."

Site spacing variations: Space between sites varies significantly between parks. At Pony Express, Nicole B. notes "The sites are pretty close together so if you like your space, this probably isn't the best place," while Valley View offers more generous spacing according to visitors.

Off-season limitations: Seasonal facilities reduce amenities during winter months. One visitor to Park City RV Resort experienced that "the pool/ hot tub was small but decent and has a lovely view" but found it closed during their off-season visit.

Connectivity challenges: WiFi performance varies across campgrounds. At Mountain Shadows RV Park, one camper reported "WiFi wasn't very good. Unable to stream anything. Kept dropping out," though they found the "location very convenient to shopping and restaurants."

Tips for camping with families

Playground options: Echo Island RV Resort offers structured recreation for children. Brant H. shares, "Since it's only an hour from home, this place may become our go-to for short stays and the occasional long stay," highlighting its convenience for families.

Rental equipment: Several parks provide recreational equipment for guest use. At Pony Express RV Resort, janet H. mentions "Bikes available including kid sized," along with a "giant chessboard" and "nice pool area," creating multiple activity options.

Wildlife education: Some parks feature natural wildlife encounters. At Lagoon RV Park, Cortney M. reports "we were greeted by 2 peacocks in the morning," though warns "at night we were also visited by raccoons so make sure you have everything put away before you head to bed."

Space for activities: Look for parks with open green spaces. Mountain Valley is described as "a great place for kids because there's plenty of space for them to ride bikes, play basketball, swim, and also a playground," providing multiple recreation options.

Tips from RVers

Level concrete pads: Valley View RV Resort in Layton provides stable surfaces for larger vehicles. Rara B. notes "We're in a 33' bumper pull & a ram 2500 and fit very well into spot 120 but there were many rigs much larger than ours," indicating the site flexibility.

Reservation timing: Off-season visits offer more availability at popular parks. At Lagoon RV Park, cheriana G. mentions "We got in late on a Sunday night in September and there were only a handful of RVs and a few campers," suggesting ideal timing for quieter stays.

Laundry facilities: Aspen Grove RV Park offers clean, modern laundry rooms. Victoria C. recommends: "One recommendation for this park- convert your washing machines over to take credit cards and/or mobile payment apps. Nobody carries quarters any more," highlighting a common challenge for travelers.

Pull-through accessibility: Many parks offer easy-access sites for larger rigs. James and Susan K. appreciated Aspen Grove's "All paved sites; roomy and well organized," noting they "planned a 2 night stay on long trip to do laundry and pickup a few things."
