    Wagons West RV Campground

    Dated but inexpensive

No concrete pads, just gravel with grass and picnic tables between. The landscaping looks a little overgrown. The fencing around the small dog park isn’t secure.

Office and laundry facilities are closed on Sundays. Bathrooms are small but clean with one toilet stall and two shower stalls each.

Full hookups and pull through spaces. Wi-Fi is available but we didn’t test it.

It’s a very quiet place. Fillmore has a Best Western with a golf course, a few gas stations and a Carls Jr.

Painted Rocks Campground — Yuba State Park

    Big rig friendly

There is not much to do in the area and the lake is seriously low, but it is a great place to park for a night or two if you want peace and quite and you have a big rig. We have a 42 ft motorhome and a separate pickup with a 6x12 trailer and we fit both in a pull through sie and it looked like there was another 40 feet available. We were in campsite #2 but it looks like there are other sites that are quite long. The site was level with water and 50 among power.

    Thousand Lakes RV Park

    OMG what views

First of all staff is amazing, so friendly and consistent maintenance routines (not annoying though).

Sites are all gravel with a little grass patch, pull through sites could fit two side by side. All sites seemed to have a table and fire ring. The views on the north and east were stunning, North was all back in and East had some pull through spots, aim for these if you can. They also have tent and cabin sites available.

Facilities were very clean. Office/general store was nice, all the basics; food, ice, wood and souvenirs. Pool is small but well kept. There is a large park area in the center with a playground and volleyball court. Super kid friendly. Bathroom/shower were very clean, a little reminiscent of my scouting days though having plywood doors and gate hinges, does the job though.

Only bad things I can say is that it’s not walking distance to town and no adult beverages sold. Plan ahead and that should not be a problem.

I will definitely stay here again given the chance.

    Beas Lewis Flat Dispersed

    Capitol Reef Boondocking

Just off of the main Hwy (24), road is in good shape. No clearance or 4WD needed. Plenty of open spaces for big rigs, we pull a 39ft fifth wheel and had lots of places to choose from. Spectacular views of the backside of Capital Reef Ntl Park. Stayed for a weekend and only saw 2-3 other campers. Perfect place to view the stars and the Milky Way! Great Dark Sky area for photography. Also had great cell service!

    Monroe Canyon RV Park

Brand new RV park, long & wide sites, FHU, wifi and amazing mountain views

Let me not lie. We were up near Salt Lake City, we were waiting for WY to warm up a little and i wanted to get Starlink- but the area we were in was oversubscribed. I stumbled across this RV park while researching and called- spoke to the owner, Jordan. He is the nicest bloke, ever obliging, polite and a delight to deal with. He is a genuine guy who will do well for himself(I do sometimes get tired of the jaded hosts at other sites who feel like they are doing you a favor) We are so glad we stumbled across this gem of a park, as this has been most pleasant. For example. The are 100% sold out for Memorial Day weekend, but Jordan has offered that we can dry-camp as i finish out the work week. We are 30 foot 5th wheel, with solar and LIPO batteries(in fact, some days we ran off of solar completely except for those times we needed heaters or air-conditioners running.) OK, enough background. First.. The beautiful red barn is the building that has laundry, bathrooms and a functions venue. They actually rent this out for weddings, reunions or whatever occasion you wish to celebrate. This is a brand-new RV Park, big spacious sites with new utilities- full hookup at about$41 a night- with delightful 360 degree beautiful mountain views- the further ones still capped in snow. The sites are all very large pull throughs, so we would not have to unhook if we did not need the F250 to roam the area. The site is wide enough to park your tow vehicle next to your rig if you were so inclined. The full hookups all worked perfectly. There is wifi that was more than serviceable, it was good when i tested it. I was experimenting with my Starlink- which worked great here. My Visible and my Verizon worked great for data also. Cricket was great for phone calls. T-Mobile had good download but miserable upload speeds- hardly conducive to Teams calls. The facilities are great. About 5 washers and dryers. Laundry and shower are coin driven, but well worth the price. The park is so new that Jordan was planting trees at some sites this week. We travel extensively around the states, and intend to stop here whenever we are anywhere nearby- we want to watch this park grow and mature. Sitting outside having a BBQ watching hang-gliders over the closest mountain range is a great way to end the day. Highly recommend this RV park, we will return! We loved the whole experience at Monroe Canyon RV Park. As an added bonus, all the locals are so friendly.

    Beas Lewis Flat Dispersed

    Lovely scenic spot for boondocking

Great spot for an overnight stay. Beautiful! Peaceful and close to Capitol Reef NP!

Had trouble getting level but we got close. No cell reception. We had Starlink. Easy drive from the main highway to the spots, looked like a maintained dirt road.

We went for cold weather to snow overnight. We were able to get out of there okay with a F250 without using 4WD.

No bathrooms, self contained. We had a neighbor! Would totally camp here again

    Beas Lewis Flat Dispersed

Beautiful Views and Close to Capitol Reef

We stayed here just short of a week in late March to visit the park. There are plenty of larger spots for big rigs, and some smaller spots that would fit camper vans etc. Sites seemed generally level, but there was some broken glass along the sides of some of the roads.

We camped on the edge of the canyon rim and had beautiful views looking down into Capitol Reef and the mountain range on the other side. Cell service with both ATT and Verizon was very good here. I was able to work and stream content without any issues.

There was one day that was VERY windy here. It was windy in the whole area, but especially on the canyon rim. I would definitely stay here again though!

Castle Rock Campground — Fremont Indian State Park

    Comfortable campground close to I-70

Castle Rock campground in Fishlake National forest is one of two campgrounds that serve Utah's Fremont Indian State Park, with both administration and reservations handled through the Utah State Park system. When I visited it was both very clean and very well maintained. Despite being close to the interstate, it is far enough up a side canyon that you do not hear the traffic on the road. It feels like being much further from civilization.

There are 44 camp sites available, many alongside the creek that flows through the campground. About 2/3 are reservable, the rest are available daily as FCFS. Two have teepees for those lacking a tent. Several are double sites for larger groups, and there are a variety of pull through vs in/out options.

There is available potable water at several locations around the campground, and two restroom facilities - a full flush unit near the center of the grounds, and a double pit at the south end of the loop.

Every site has a fire pit, an elevated grill, and a picnic table.

There is an access road from the campground to the Paiute ATV trail. For hikers, the south end of the campground is the north origin of the Joe Lott Trail that heads into the Fishlake National Forest. The facilities of Fremont Indian State Park are about 1/2 mile away, on the opposite side of I-70, and include a small museum of Fremont life, and a variety of improved and unimproved trails leading to many rock art sites.

Clean, well maintained, shady sites.  There is a nice dog run on the premises as well as grass areas throughout.  Clean facilities and friendly staff.

A perfect stay for us while we visiting National Parks in the area.

Guide to Elsinore

RV campgrounds near Elsinore, Utah provide access to multiple outdoor recreation opportunities. The area sits in central Utah at approximately 5,400 feet elevation with the Fishlake National Forest to the east and the Paiute ATV trail system accessible from several nearby locations. Winter temperatures often drop below freezing while summer daytime highs typically reach 85-95°F.

What to do

ATV trail access: Several Elsinore area campgrounds connect directly to the Paiute trail system. At Monroe Canyon RV Park, "This is an ATVers heaven as you can drive your ATV directly from the campground to the trails," notes one visitor. The campground fills quickly with ATV enthusiasts on weekends.

Fishing opportunities: Fish for trout in nearby rivers and lakes. At Fishlake National Forest Doctor Creek Campground, campers report good fishing conditions with boat access. "A few campers had fishing boats to take to the lake," reports one reviewer who stayed at the site that overlooks the water.

Historical exploration: Visit Fremont Indian State Park near Sevier to see petroglyphs and rock art. According to campers at Sevier River RV Park, "Fremont Indian State Park is nearby. We found this to be a very interesting park to see petroglyphs and rock art, along with some examination of cultures and explorers."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Most campgrounds maintain well-kept restrooms and showers. A camper at Cedar Mountain RV Resort mentions it's a "new campground. Still working on it but going to be great when it's done." Cedar Mountain represents the newer options in the region.

Mountain views: The surrounding mountain landscapes provide scenic backdrops at most area campgrounds. A visitor to South Forty RV Park described it as "tucked in a beautiful canyon, and surrounded by mountains," noting there's "a gorgeous paved bike path that runs along the river, nearby."

Stargazing conditions: Minimal light pollution creates good stargazing opportunities. One camper at Cove Fort RV Park appreciated that "what I liked most was the lack of ambient light. Went out at night and it was pitch black with sky full of stars."

What you should know

Seasonal operations: While some rv campgrounds near Elsinore remain open year-round, others have limited seasons. South Forty RV Park operates from April 1 to October 15. Doctor Creek Campground's season runs "May 18 to September 6," according to their listing.

Reservation systems: Some parks don't allow specific site selection in advance. A camper at South Forty RV Park noted, "The only thing I didn't love is that you don't get to reserve a specific site. They assign one to you when you arrive."

Development status: Several campgrounds in the area are relatively new or under development. "This is a brand-new RV Park, big spacious sites with new utilities," reported one Monroe Canyon RV Park visitor, while another mentioned the owner "was planting trees at some sites this week."

Tips for camping with families

Farm animal attractions: Some Elsinore area rv parks feature farm animals kids can interact with. One Sevier River RV Park visitor mentioned "an enclosure containing chickens and turkeys. The office provided food so our 3 year old granddaughter could feed those birds."

Laundry facilities: For extended family stays, check which campgrounds offer laundry services. A visitor to Love's RV Stop-Salina appreciated that it was "clean, new, nice amenities, not very crowded and right at the gas stations."

Dog restrictions: Review pet policies before arrival. According to a South Forty RV Park visitor, "There are some pretty strict rules with dogs, sewer lines, and washing UTVs/ATVs in your site. However, the camp is very clean so it appears the rules are working."

Tips from RVers

Site dimensions: Most rv campgrounds around Elsinore accommodate larger rigs with pull-through sites. At Monroe Canyon RV Park, "The sites are all very large pull throughs, so we would not have to unhook if we did not need the F250 to roam the area. The site is wide enough to park your tow vehicle next to your rig."

Surface conditions: Expect gravel pads at most locations. At Wagons West RV Campground, a visitor observed "No concrete pads, just gravel with grass and picnic tables between."

Internet connectivity: Connectivity varies by location. At Monroe Canyon RV Park, one camper reported "There is wifi that was more than serviceable, it was good when i tested it. My Visible and my Verizon worked great for data also. Cricket was great for phone calls."
