Clean and Rustic

The best part of this campground is the beautiful rustic old timey feel. There are updated modern bathhouses dispersed throughout. The camp store is well stocked. There is a very nice boat ramp and several boat parking areas. “T” area is our favorite with full hookups and beautiful pine trees. A premier and amazing mountain bike trail system is accessible directly from campground!! The Canal Loop Trail and North South Trails are well known and revered by area mountain bikers and hikers. No WiFi or internet service. Cell signal in prior years have been spotty. Very family friendly and lots of kids riding bikes and playing everywhere!

Big Fun on the Lake

This huge campground has the best tent sites near the water on loop B that aren't reservable, so you'll likely get a good one just showing up on a weeknight in the summer or less busy weekend. The kids had a great time at the beach/swimming area and there's a nice store and not too much traffic for riding bikes. Firewood was dry and reasonably priced. Definitely a favorite family campground at LBL!

Yet to disappoint

Another successful camp in the books

Great Campground but a little noisy late at night.

5 Star camp ground and activities, but noisy after 10pm with kids on golf carts and partying at their beach location late at night. If they get them off the cart they walk the roads being loud and obnoxious. I camp to relax not to party or babysit.

Great campground

My family loves to camp here. It is a big campground with lots of trees. My family like playing in the creek, riding bikes, swimming in the lake, & hiking on the trails. They have a camp small store, basketball courts, 2 playgrounds, a beach area and 2 boat ramps. It’s a great family friendly campground!

Nice campground but....

Beautiful campground. Big sites. Nice private shower houses. But lock up your beer… apparently it's common to have it stolen from your cooler when ur gone or asleep. Happend to us in the 15 min we went to take showers. Talked to the gate guard and they are aware it's a problem but dont warn you…. tiny frogs everywhere!!!!!😊😊😊😊

By far the best

This is absolutely my favorite camping home. The staff is amazing, they know us by name. Fellow campers are courteous and very friendly, almost like family.

Love this place

Definitely a favorite spot by far

An amazing week!

We were a little uneasy at first because we usually do national forest camping, due to our amount of kids but they made us feel welcome from the time we rolled up. They placed us in the best basic site (B19) where we were up on the hill and had a 180⁰ view of the lake and were right across from the bathhouse. The store on site is incredibly cheap and reasonable, the bathhouses are clean and it was nice to have hot water showers. The elk & bison prairie was a great close by stop, I'd highly reccomend stopping in. We stayed for a week and will definitely be back on our way through.

Needs some maintenance

Stopped at Hillman Ferry campground in May on a trip to Illinois. We camped here several times in the 1990s and it was very nice. But it is showing some age now. The roads were rough and the sites were not very level. But the shower house was clean and there was lots of hot water. Plenty of wildlife and hiking
