We are seasoned state park campers, so we were a little nervous to go to private grounds. The drive to this site was beautiful and we were greeted by a kind family who was willing to help us with anything! The creek side sites are gorgeous and we would have really enjoyed creek walking had we stayed longer. I definitely recommend trout creek for a cozy family atmosphere.
Hillman ferry is a little crowded for my liking and the sites are anything but level. Although the trees were pretty, this site doesn’t provide much to the eyes. We did enjoy a night on Grand River and had a great dinner at the tavern. I’m sure if we spent some more time at this campground we would have enjoyed it, but it was nothing exciting for our short stay.
We were welcomed into the camp by a very kind lady who was knowledgeable on all the adventures we could take from the campsite. The camp sites were very clean and pretty hidden away, we could hardly even see our neighbors from the site. My only problem was that there were no sewers on site, but plenty of clean bathrooms were spread around the campsite. Emphasis on clean bathrooms!! The camp store was equipped with just about everything we need and there are many nearby towns for adventurers.
