Based on reviews from The Dyrt, park maintenance and road conditions can differ considerably: "The paved road was beginning to break up from all the rain with pot holes and new ones beginning to pop up. The pads are gravel and almost level." Pet policies exist at most parks, with designated dog areas available at select locations like Shady Creek RV Park.

    The Retreat at Shady Creek

    Awesome RV resort in town

We normally don't do RV resorts, but this one is awesome. The sites are fairly spacious, especially compared to other RV resorts. Big rig friendly with many different style spots to choose from. We always choose the fence line back in sites, and they always come with plenty of grass to walk the dogs. The fence backs up to residential, but that doesn't bother us. Even the back in sites are plenty spacious for a big rig and your tow vehicle and another vehicle. The park is very roomy and easy to navigate and park.

The staff are always so nice and they make late check in a breeze, which we appreciate after a long, tiring day of towing. This RV resort is the only place we've ever stayed in that allows RV washing! For full-time RVers, that's pretty huge. They also have a mail room if you need to receive a package on the road.

The resort is split up into two areas by the road, the Retreat area is more resort like and caters to short term stays, while the other half has long term stays. They both look nice and are clean and beautiful. We will continue to visit every time we pass through the area.

    Lake Park Campground

    Nice Place

This place is well-maintained and a fairly nice park. Family friendly and there is a lake and playground within walking distance. The staff is courteous. We did not use any of the facilities, except dump station.

There are specific sites for 30 and 50. The middle spaces for 30 amp have no shade. For 50 amp avoid sites 59-63, 0 shade. There are no sewer hookups at the site. Only dumping station.

Reservations is done by calling the park, no online.

    Traders Village RV Park

    Clean and big

We stayed 4 nights in site 24, PT FHU on a level concrete pad with a picnic table and plot of grass. $40/ni after Good Sam. The park is split into two sections; the side we are in is next to an airfield and the other side is by a small dog run (next time, I'll request this section bc I'm traveling with my dogs). They have a store and the laundry is clean and well priced ($1.25/wash, $0.25/12 min dry). The wifi is strong and the park is quiet. There are some long term, possibly permanent, tenants, but their sites are well kept.

    Lake Tawakoni State Park Campground

    Nice state park

We don't stay at too many TX State Parks because of the added day use fee. We decided on this park due to its proximity to family in this area. The site was level and on a concrete pad with a parking spot right next to it. We did have a neighbor, so the space between us was fair. Our cell signal with Verizon was poor, so it made work difficult. Our site had W/E and there is a dump station. We did have a picnic table and fire ring. There are some sites that back up to a part of the lake. Noise level was pretty low. Unfortunately, we only spent 1 full day here, so we didn't really get to enjoy any of the hiking trails or do any fishing. We will definitely have to stay again in the future.

    The Vineyards Campground & Cabins

    Very nice

Our site had a concrete pad for our rv. Full hookups are very nice. While we were here nightly thunderstorms came in. The staff were on top of it as they drove around alerting everyone about the wind approaching. Clean laundry room and restrooms. We didn’t use the store due to corona fears and didn’t need to. Pet friendly. Quiet at night. I would absolutely stay here and recommend it to anyone. The only spring time issue is lake flooding will close it.

Guide to Wylie

Seasonal RV sites near Wylie, Texas offer year-round accommodations with varying levels of amenities across the region. Most parks maintain operational status through all seasons, though availability becomes limited during peak holiday periods and summer months. The eastern Dallas suburbs provide convenient access to Lake Lavon while maintaining proximity to urban conveniences in nearby communities.

What to do

Lake activities: Lavon Oaks RV Park provides easy access to Lake Lavon for fishing, boating and swimming. The park's location makes it convenient for guests planning water recreation during warmer months.

Urban exploration: Campers staying at Plantation Place can take advantage of the convenient access to Dallas. "Quiet park with easy access to Dallas. Nice dog walking area and dog park. Full hookups," notes Jackie E. in her review.

CrossFit workouts: Athletic campers at Shady Creek RV Park and Storage can maintain their fitness routines at the adjacent CrossFit facility. Rafael A. mentions, "CrossFit is walking distance (separate business). The pool is nice. You're right next to Frisco, Prosper, Little Elm, Savannah, and Denton."

What campers like

Saltwater pool: The swimming amenities at Patriot RV Park receive positive mentions from guests. "They have a saltwater pool, dog park, laundry room, shower/bathrooms, trees/landscaping and access to a boat ramp," explains Bobbie S.

Convenient laundry facilities: Multiple parks offer functional laundry facilities for extended stays. "The laundry room is nice, I really like the app that lets you pay so you don't need coins but also tells you how much time you have remaining or if there are machines available," Rafael A. says about Shady Creek RV Park.

Pet accommodations: Dog-friendly features appear consistently throughout area parks. "It is a new park so all the utilities were functioning as they should," reports Roy O. about Dove Hill RV Park, though the review also notes several drawbacks about the location.

What you should know

Internet connectivity: WiFi quality varies significantly between parks. "The free wifi is pretty strong and the TV reception was excellent," reports Roy O. about Dove Hill RV Park, though the same reviewer had other complaints about the facility. Conversely, Mic R. noted at Lafon's RV Park: "The Wi-Fi was not good that would be my only complaint."

Site leveling challenges: Some parks require significant leveling efforts. Roy O. observed at Dove Hill RV Park, "It appeared that the campground doesn't have any sites that approach level... A few of the campers had to have their back wheels off the ground in order to get level!"

Road conditions: Weather impacts can affect park accessibility and comfort. Pedro C. noted at Shady Creek: "The paved road was beginning to break up from all the rain with pot holes and new ones beginning to pop up. The pads are gravel and almost level."

Tips for camping with families

Location considerations: Family campers should evaluate proximity to activities. "We love this place. Clean. Quite and well managed. The place is alway immaculate. Friendly staff," reports Tab M. about Plantation Place.

Pool access: Swimming facilities provide important recreation for children during summer stays. Patriot RV Park's saltwater pool offers an alternative to lake swimming with more controlled conditions.

Duration planning: Extended stays may provide better value for families. Candy A. shares about Plantation Place: "Stayed for about a month. Very nice and the staff is friendly. Has laundry facilities, 30/50 amp hookups, water, sewer, back-ins and pull-throughs. Has a nice pond and pet friendly."

Tips from RVers

Bathroom considerations: Some parks lack expected facilities. Jackie E. warns about Plantation Place: "WARNING: NO BATHROOMS, NO SHOWERS. Quiet park with easy access to Dallas... never in all my years have I been to a park with no bathrooms or showers."

Electricity costs: Budget-conscious RVers should note utility pricing. Roy O. shares, "We stayed a month and the electricity was decently priced. For the month in the Texas heat, our bill was about $75."

Pricing variations: Monthly rates offer cost savings for longer stays. Sonny R. reports about Patriot RV Park: "The price is the best in the area and they give free high speed internet. They have a nice laundry room and mailboxes on site. They offer short or long term living."
