    Nashville Shores Lakeside Resort

    Fun, clean, quiet

This campground was very convenient for those visiting the Nashville area, its just off the highway and they offer shuttles for a fee to downtown and opryland. The check in process was quick and simple, the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Our campsite was easy to find and very clean. The shower house was one of the best I've seen mostly because it is air conditioned. The showers are all very private and clean with plenty of room. The waterpark is just steps away, I would suggest not eating food within the park it is over priced and not very tasty, go to the marina restaurant or eat at your campsite. They have a dog park to exercise your dogs and you can't beat the views. I would recommend this campground.

    Four Corners Resort and Marina

    Lakefront camping at its best!

Four Corners RV resort is a fantastic find just 21 miles South of Nashville. We paid a weekly rate of $879 including taxes and fees for a back in waterfront site. We have fantastic water views from both sides of the coach. The pads are all concrete, wide sites, include a fire ring and picnic table. They have several fishing and boating docks. They have a dog park and a swimming beach with dog bath upon exiting the beach. They also have a nice adult pool and a large kiddie pool. They have a lot of Canadian Geese which are fun to watch but leave their droppings everywhere. The campground is very dog friendly with a lot of dog litter bags and trash cans throughout the campground. This campground is a great staging place for visiting numerous sites in Nashville. We like this campground and really have enjoyed the water views, we recommend this campground and will be back.

    Nashville Shores Lakeside Resort

    Awesome for families

This place is great! There is a lake with all sorts of water craft to rent. There is a high water park as part of the complex (separate fee). All sites have full hookups including cable. All roads are paved. All sites are level. There is even a dog park so your 4 legged family members can run free too.

    Nashville KOA Resort

    Good campground, close to everything

Site wasnt great and had to level rig a bit. Patio was small and not well kept. Cable and Wi-Fi were great. Amenities also nice. Dog park and laundry were very small. Shuttle to downtown very convenient. Very expensive for gravel site with small patio. Staff all seemed friendly.

    Nashville KOA Resort

Just as good the second time through

This was our second time staying here during the pandemic. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and all employees were masked when indoors. We decided to try a back-in spot (R12) along the wall that separates the KOA from the RV campground next door. Nice and quiet, adequate shade during the day, and right next to the dog park! 5 bars of 5Ge on AT&T and the campground WiFi was good enough to get some work done.

This is without a doubt one of the nicest KOA’s we’ve visited. We would absolutely stay here again.

    Two Rivers Campground

    Great CG in Nashville

We spent two nights here (May 24-26, 2022). This is a nice, easy access CG with level pull through and back-in gravel sites in Nashville. It is located within a loop of the Cumberland River, between two RV dealer/repair facilities and surrounded by two RV CGs- it’s a busy area. There are a number of activities available: live music, swimming pool, recreation hall, playground and dog park. We did not make use of the laundry, bathrooms or showers. It is a great base camp to visit the Nashville (Grand Ole Opry) area. The WiFi was great as was cell phone reception. The cable TV worked well. We would stay here again.

    Four Corners RV Resort

    Nashville’s best-kept secret

I’m hesitant to write this review because this is our new close-to-home GO-TO camping spot and we don’t want it to get booked up. 😆 It is new, quiet, and extremely well-priced. Our lakeside spot was $60 per night. Our other lake resort stays in this area have been at least double that! There is a gated entrance, which I like. The staff here is unbelievably welcoming and friendly. The crew is constantly working on cleaning, landscaping and maintenance. This morning they were raking the beach sand because it rained yesterday. There are plenty of pet waste stations and attractive (seriously)trash bins spaced throughout the park. The sites are concrete, level and roomy with full hookups (great water pressure!), new picnic tables and fire rings. There is not one bad location on the lakeside sites. Our personal faves are 69 thru 81...odds/lakefront. There is a swimming beach (see pic) as well as several relaxing spots, a playground, a bark park and a dog washing station (see pic!). There is a bath house, laundry (with 4 brand-new LG front loading washers), a gym (with a universal, an elliptical and a treadmill) and a small store. See pics! Bathhouse is spotless. It is attached to the marina (but the marina is situated on the far end)and they rent kayaks, paddle boards, and golf carts. There are three docks with kayak and jet ski slips. The view of Percy Priest is incredible and serene. I seriously can not recommend this place highly enough. ***They are going to be adding tiny houses, cabins and aqua houses (think Bali, but closer😉).

    Nashville KOA Resort

    The ultimate RV resort

This is the upper echelon of RV camping; a true resort with amenities to match. Family and pet friendly with plenty of walking space, playground and multiple fenced in areas for the dogs to play off leash. 20/30/50 amp power, water and sewer hookups at most sites.

As with most RV parks the spaces at the sites are tight, so be ready to get close to your neighbors. The campground requests that all trailers and RV use blocks under their stabilizers and not lay down any outdoor rugs to protect the grass.

One note for those making use of the sewer connection: The stand pipe sits somewhat higher off the ground than what you may see at other parks, so be prepared to get creative with your waste water hose to make sure you're running downhill before dumping tanks.

Guide to Williamsport

Camping options near Williamsport, Tennessee include several primitive and developed sites within a short drive. Located in the Highland Rim region at approximately 650 feet elevation, the area features limestone outcroppings, clear streams, and hardwood forests. Seasonal temperature variations can be significant, with summer highs regularly reaching 90°F and winter nights often dropping below freezing.

What to do

Hiking trails and historic sites: Montgomery Bell State Park offers numerous trails through hardwood forests. "Great family friendly park with lots of hiking and historical sites. There is a beautiful waterfall and an adorable old church," notes Faith S. about Montgomery Bell State Park Campground.

Kayaking and water recreation: The clear streams throughout the region provide excellent paddling opportunities. "Kayaking the piney river is a must," writes dawn C. about her stay at Piney River Resort. The river's crystal clear water makes it ideal for summer recreation.

Cave exploration: For a unique experience, visitors can tour underground formations. "Southport Saltpeter Cave is a historic cave located 12 miles south of Columbia TN. We offer cave tours, primitive camping, hiking, and exploring," explains Buddy B., referencing the dog-friendly primitive camping options available near Williamsport.

What campers like

Creek access: Many campsites offer direct water access for cooling off during hot months. "We really enjoyed our spot by the creek. Children can wade in the creek all day, why parents enjoy sitting outside under all the shade trees," notes Tammy P. about Montgomery Bell State Park.

Quiet natural settings: The area's rural character provides peaceful camping experiences. "Very personable owners and staff, they greet you when you arrive and check with you and say goodbye when you leave. Like friends you never knew you had... The quietest campground we've ever stayed at," says dawn C. about Piney River Resort.

Level camping pads: David Crockett State Park Campground receives praise for its well-maintained sites. "Our first time RVing and this is where we stayed!! We really liked that the pads were concrete and level...took a lot of pressure off of the leveling process campground is clean and very quiet at night," shares Nancy B.

What you should know

No showers at certain locations: Facilities vary significantly between campgrounds. "All roads and campsites are paved so the kids all road bikes easily! No electric at sites but there are water spigots periodically placed through the campground. Bathrooms were very clean. No showers," reports saddie R. about Meriwether Lewis Campground.

Varying cell coverage: Connectivity can be limited in this rural area. "I had absolutely no cell service through Verizon and my T-Mobile 5g internet had no reception either (even with a booster). Luckily, I was able to rely on my Starlink," shares Emerson F. about Thousand Trails Natchez Trace.

Access challenges for large rigs: Some campgrounds have difficult approach roads. "The drive in from the highway was very scary on narrow, windy roads with dropoffs on the side. We took the staff recommended route in and Co-Pilot's route out and both were scary in our Class A towing a car hauler," warns Pat&Amanda D. about their experience at Piney River Resort.

Tips for camping with families

Bike-friendly campgrounds: Paved roads make certain campgrounds ideal for children on bikes. At Henry Horton State Park Campground, visitors find "plenty of places for the kiddos to ride their bikes. We loved it here and will definitely return," according to Laur H.

Swimming holes and water play: Natural water features provide entertainment for children. "The swimming hole was great! We loved watching the younger crowd jump off the cliff into the water," shares Elizabeth S. about her Piney River Resort stay, highlighting the pet-friendly amenities available.

Accessible hiking for kids: Trails of varying difficulty accommodate young hikers. "The park has tons of activities and good hiking trails," mentions Tammy P. about Montgomery Bell State Park, making it a top choice for families with dogs exploring campgrounds near Williamsport.

Tips from RVers

Site spacing considerations: Some campgrounds offer more privacy than others. "We chose to stay in the tent only camping sites. They are spread out far enough that you don't feel like you are in one another space. However, they are all together in the center of the RV camping loop," explains Lexi S. about Montgomery Bell State Park.

Reservations for riverside sites: Premium waterfront spots at Tanbark Campground and other facilities fill quickly. "We chose a site along the beautiful Piney River with full hook-ups, level cement pad, pavilion with lights and ceiling fan, kind neighbors and the wonderful sounds of silence," describes Tony D., highlighting the appeal of waterside camping.

Low clearance warnings: Some access roads have height restrictions. "There is a low bridge (11ft) that you need to pass under to get onto the Natchez Trace Parkway. If you can't fit, you have to take Napier road north several miles," warns Emerson F., providing essential information for RVers with taller vehicles exploring dog-friendly campgrounds near the Williamsport area.
