Twin Lakes boasts sweeping views of the nearly 56,000 acres of water that comprise Lake Hartwell, and 89 of the 102 available campsites are waterfront, providing campers with breathtaking views and easy access to the lake. Natural Features: Hartwell Lake is a man-made lake bordering Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Tugaloo and Seneca Rivers. The dam and lake area boasts nine campgrounds and 15 day-use facilities that are operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The Hartwell Project was originally authorized for hydro power, flood control and navigation. Later, recreation, water quality, water supply and fish and wildlife management were added. Surrounding vegetation allows for plenty of shade, and the 962 miles of shoreline provide numerous swimming beaches, picnic areas and boat ramps. Coneross Campground is located on the Seneca River arm of the northern end of Hartwell Lake in South Carolina. Spanning parts of South Carolina and Georgia, Hartwell Lake is one of the largest and most visited public recreation lakes in the Southeast. It comprises nearly 56,000 acres of water and has a shoreline of 962 miles. Natural Features: The lake shore is thickly forested with mostly pine, and the lake itself is large with many inlets and coves to explore. Numerous species of birds call this area home, including waterfowl, shorebirds, woodland birds and even the occasional peregrine falcon and bald eagle. Recreation: Fishing is one of the most popular activities at the lake. Sought-after species include largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass and hybrid bass. High Falls Park is a 46-acre park nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and located on the shores of beautiful Lake Keowee. There are 91 campsites with 10 being waterfront. All have electrical hookup (20 &30 amp), water service, and bathhouses located within the campgrounds with the dump station located outside the park entrance. The Park offers three rental buildings/shelters for reunions, birthday parties, award ceremonies, and picnics. Other day-use facilities include picnic tables with charcoal grills, a swimming area, restroom, miniature golf, one tennis, and basketball court, volleyball, two boat ramps, a fishing pier, and a playground. Lake Keowee is over 18,000 acres and provides a pristine, blue reservoir popular for water sports and fishing.
