Several RV-friendly campgrounds surround Canadys, South Carolina, with varied amenities and site configurations. Eagle's RV Campground offers year-round camping with water and electric hookups, though sites can be limited for larger rigs. The small park primarily serves long-term residents. New Green Acres RV Park, located just off I-95 near Walterboro, features spacious pull-through sites with full hookups including 50-amp service. "This park has really really long spaces. It's great for when towing a long trailer too but be mindful that there is a whole pile of trees," noted one camper. Tiny Town RV Campground provides 16 full hookup sites on level pull-through pads with 20/30/50 amp electrical options, water, and sewer connections housed in decorative whiskey barrels.

Access to most RV parks in the region requires careful navigation of two-lane country roads. Cell service varies significantly between locations - New Green Acres offers limited WiFi near the office only, while Tiny Town provides adequate 4G coverage for Verizon customers. Many parks accommodate pets with designated dog areas, though amenities differ substantially between locations. Overnight visitors should note that dump stations are limited, with New Green Acres and Black Pearl Farms offering this service, while others require self-contained units. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, highway noise can be noticeable at parks situated near I-95, particularly at New Green Acres, though the convenience for overnight travelers makes this a popular stopover. Reservations are recommended during winter months when snowbirds travel through the area.

      Charleston KOA

      Family Fun in Low Country

Pulling into Charleston KOA just off US-17 south of historic Charleston immediately sets one at ease, with broad paved roads, clearly marked loops and a layout that feels intentionally family-friendly without being sprawling or overwhelming. This large KOA campground has a full suite of amenities that make it easy to feel at home, with clean bath/shower facilities, a heated pool, splash pad, playgrounds, dog parks, game areas and an inviting camp store, along with shaded sites, roomy pull-throughs for bigger rigs, and tent areas that are never too far from the action. One of our favorite parts of the stay was watching the boys splash and shriek with laughter at the pool one afternoon, then huddling around the community fire pit at dusk sharing s’mores and swapping stories with other families while an orchestra of cicadas serenaded us from the treetops. From what we saw, the best sites are the ones tucked toward the wooded perimeter, where you get more shade and a quieter feel while still being close enough to stroll back to the amenities without dragging gear for miles. We’d recommend Charleston KOA for families because of its EZ highway access, friendly atmosphere, and a variety of kid-centric amenities that help turn a simple overnight into a genuine camping getaway.

      Tiny Town RV Campground

      Nice Campground, Great Location

Family owned RV campground with full hook-ups and a food truck on the property! We were there on a Thursday evening and had delicious chicken street tacos. Easy to get in and out of the campground with our 28 foot travel trailer. Pull thru, level sites. Peaceful location surrounded by trees. You can hear the birds chirping and the neighbor's rooster while you sit outside enjoying the morning sun. All the sites have 20, 30 and 50 amp power, and a water hook up. The plumbing at each site is housed in whiskey barrels which we thought was a clever idea. Most sites had sewer as well. We had a picnic table and fire ring at our site also. Our Verizon phones worked fine with 4G, two bars. The campground is new, and small(16 sites) which we liked. The owners have plans to add activities and events in the near future but it currently has everything an RV camper would need. They were working on an axe throwing building and an activity area for kids when we were there. It's in a great location for exploring Summerville or Charleston, or for spending the day at one of the many nearby beaches. They offer a discount if staying a week which is wonderful since there is so much to do in the nearby towns.

      Eagle's RV Campground

      Ranger Review: Eagle’s RV Campground

We called to reserve a week long stay and were told they had sites available, which turned out was only one. The campground is definitely a “no frills” park and mostly used by long term/permanent residents. The host/owner had us pull right next to his own rig, it was a tight fit and we had zero privacy. He then proceeded to sit on his RV stairs and smoke and stare at us both when we were outside and when we were in our rig. We could smell the smoke which isn’t ok with us. We didn’t even bother to put the slides out. When we set up the electricity we had fire ants attack us. We decided quickly that we’d only stay the night and we’d leave first thing in the morning. Across the street is a nice state park and campground (Colleton State Park) but they unfortunately didn’t have any sites open big enough for our 30 ft class A. I’d recommend staying there over this campground if you want to be in this exact area. We luckily found another campground closer to Charleston to stay at.

      FamCamp Joint Base Charleston S.C

      Nice place a smidge confusing

There are actually TWO bases here - the air base and the weapons station. We stayed at the air base but also visited the weapons station for some recreation.

Air base: close to downtown Charleston; great price for the amenities provided ($45 per night for full hookups - electric, water, and sewer); power/water pedestal was nice; shower and laundry facilities on site; all sites fairly level and mostly shady; playground, sand volleyball, golf, and indoor climbing wall within walking distance; beautiful trees, etc. All the normal base amenities, including bowling alley (check out galactic bowling if you have kids).

Staff was helpful. Camp host was… vigilant, but not super considerate with his leaf blowing pollen plumes around breakfasters.

      Did not have pool. Fine.

DOES NOT HAVE FIRE RINGS. Or a grill. That was a disappointment. You can BRING a fire ring. But of course no open burning.

Also, the sites are a smidge close together. But not overly so. Ask for a perimeter site and not a middle pull through if you're looking for a little extra green space between. (Not sure if they'll honor that or not.)

The weapons station also has an RV park. (Forgot to look and see if they have fire rings.) If you are a trail runner or hiker or similar, this is the one you want to go to. There's an excellent trail system right off the RV park. The air base did not. They have plenty of sidewalks to run but no trails. However, if you're there to see Charleston, you want to stay at the air base. The weapons station is further away from downtown.

As other reviewers have said, these options are both on military bases and require an ID to access.

      Edisto Beach State Park Campground

Beach Campground -- It Doesn't Get Much Better Than This!

This is our absolute favorite campsite of all time! It is very private and secluded, but right around the corner from the beach. It is for tents and small campers only, as we barely had enough room to get our pop up backed up in the site with the truck. The site slopes up, evens out, and then slopes right back down to the fire ring and picnic table. Our pop up is a 10-foot box and it was just enough room to get it on the level spot without sloping one way or the other. It was also just wide enough for our awning to be set out with a little room to walk around. Once situated, there is plenty of room at the picnic table and fire ring to sit around and park bikes, etc.

There is plenty of shade and you can hear the waves crashing on the beach. The site also has water and electric hookups, but we try to bring our own water since you can still taste the salt. It is so relaxing!

This is on the Beach Campground and the only problem we noticed it is that the outdoor shower for washing off sand from the beach has low visibility because it is on the road side of the bathhouse and not the beach side. The result is people clogging up the showers with sand because they don't even see the outdoor shower in some cases.

The park has some amazing nature trails to bike and hike as well as a nice educational nature center.

We always enjoy our stay here and will definitely continue to book here as long as we can.

      Hunting Island State Park Campground

      Beachside campground

What a lovely spot! Walking miles on the beach on mild January days sometimes without seeing anyone else! Incredible shell collections. Campsites are big, lots of palm trees may limit some campsites for big rigs so speak to someone there when booking or use pull through sites. Sites do need more gravel, some are muddy. I didn’t use bathhouse. Short walk to beach. Great camp store, need to visit.

Campground at James Island County Park

      Hidden gem for visiting Charleston

When making reservations at James Island County Park we had modest expectations, but we were going to tour Charleston most of the time, so we decided anything close to the city would be good enough. The campground turned out to be very nice. We wished we had stayed there longer to enjoy not only Charleston, but the nature beauty of the park itself. The campground is located in a huge park with lots of amenities. The sites are spacious, covered with trees, full hookups with 50 amp service. There are a lot of shaded picturesque walking and bike trails in the park. The dog park was amazingly big, with a little doggy beach for water lovers. There is a big kids playground with a fun looking spray play fountain. It is located just 15 min drive from the campground to downtown Charleston. It is a great campground to stay when visiting Charleston. We have a video on our YouTube Channel- Summertime RV Rovers- about this park- Great Campgrounds in Coastal South Carolina: Charleston and Hilton Head Island. Please check for yourself. We camped at James Island County Park in a Motorhome.

      Sweetwater Lake Campground

      I love this place!

Sweetwater Lake Campground is a small RV campground. There is electric and water hookup and a dump station. Lots are decent size and fairly level on grass or gravel. The owners are very nice and available, if needed. Reservations are not taken, so you pull in and pick your spot. Drop your money in a lock box. The property has a nice size lake and all spots face it. There are fire pits and hammocks. The best and most fun part about this campground are the rescue donkeys. Their shelter and grazing area is situated directly behind the camper row. You can hear them bray and they will come to you and let you pet them, although, you should use caution as they warn you that donkeys bite. This is a very nice, quiet campground surrounded by private property of fields and lake. I really enjoyed our stay here!
