Best RV Parks & Resorts near Noxen, PA

Several RV parks near Noxen accommodate various camping needs. Stonybrook RV Resort in Lehighton provides full hookups including 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. Blue Mountain RV and Camping Resort operates year-round with spacious pull-through sites for larger motorhomes. Thousand Trails Scotrun offers RV sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups throughout all seasons. Frances Slocum State Park Campground, located in Wyoming, PA, features electric sites with 30 and 50-amp service from April through October. "The sites are a little close in some areas, but are nice with water, sewer and electric at each site. Everything from pop ups to big rigs can be seen."

Many RV parks in the region require careful navigation due to mountain terrain. Cell service varies significantly across campgrounds, with several reviewers noting spotty coverage, particularly at Ricketts Glen State Park where "NO cell service whatsoever" was reported by one camper. Most state park campgrounds provide sanitary dump stations and potable water fill points, though few offer full hookups at individual sites. Pet-friendly designated areas exist at most parks, typically in specific camping loops. Between spring and fall, advance reservations are strongly recommended as weekend occupancy rates climb, especially during leaf-peeping season. Campground amenities range from basic to comprehensive, with some offering laundry facilities, camp stores with RV supplies, and propane refill services.

    Stony MT Family Campground

    We’d do it again!

Not cheap but we’ll within area norms. This camp has many long term campers that are friendly and helpful and some have children with them. Some full-time rigs are weekend campers. Some weekend events are planned. Most sites have full hookups with 50 amp electric only so if needed have an adapter (available at the small camp store. We had an unplanned extension on our visit that included a weekend where a group was scheduled and the park was booked including our site. The friendly staff worked to ensure a temporary site for us for the weekend.

    Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground

Great campground in PA northern tier

The owners do a fantastic job keeping the campground shipshape. Restrooms/showers are immaculate any time of day. Heated swimming pool and the splash pad for kiddies is spotless as well. Nice, pull-through on gravel pad withfull-hookups that can take large rigs. Lake is lovely for fishing/kayaks/canoes. Seasonal campers are tidy. Only a few tent sites with water & electricity tucked into woods. Larger pull-through sites don't get a lot of shade, but there are back-in sites for shorter campers in wooded sites and shaded lake front, as well. Campground store sells ice-cream & nachos and supplies. Campground is pretty quiet during the week, but fills up on weekends with guests using own (or renting) golf carts. Activities on weekends. The campground sits atop one of NEPA's "rolling hills" in quiet, rural farming area. Cell service is spotty. Local winery/cafe just down the road for tastings and lunch. Row boat, paddle boat rentals.

    Riverside Campground & Riverside Roadhouse

    Very Nice RV Park

Very clean and we'll managed campground. Sites are a little close in some areas, but are nice. WSE at leach sure. There are cute cabins and a tent area. Great restaurant on site with music on weekends with local bands or DJs. New Owners have worked hard to improve the park. There are no permanent sites, but they do have seasonal sites. Everything from pop ups to big rigs can be seen. Nice clean pool and rest rooms. Clean well equipped laundry. Park is close to hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and larger and small towns. Huge playground ajoins the Park. Staff is friendly and helpful.

    Tobyhanna State Park Campground

    Great family campground

This place only gets 4 stars because I thought we were going to have water and electric hook ups. They only have 2 kinds of sites, modern electric (only electric) and primitive. They have a potable water station and dump station and very few sites with electric hook up. They also have specific pet friendly sites. We had a wonderful time here. We went for Father’s Day weekend in June. The lake is gorgeous! Beachfront swimming and boat rentals, great biking and hiking trails. Sites are mostly separated by trees but are still close. Bath houses were very clean and they have a dish washing sink as well. Beach is within walking and biking distance. Two cons- Bath house at the beach is 50 cents for a 2-minute shower, so we just went back to the campground bath house to clean up. The playground near sites 53-56 is a little underwhelming. Otherwise was a great stay! We already booked another stay in September this year!

The Pines Campground — Promised Land State Park

Quiet, just remote enough, a Great Lake, and nice camp hosts

I stayed for three nights in a pull through trailer site with 50 AMP and 30 AMP electric. Easy to get in and out of, nice and shady, big spaces so you were not on top of one another, and nice and quiet. Clean and modern bath house, water close by, and great camp hosts. Definitely recommend it.

Lower Lake Campground Northwoods Area — Promised Land State Park

    Northwoods Campground

Big sites with 30 amp service available for RVs and trailers. Each site has a large picnic table and a fire ring with an adjustable grate. The pull-through sites don’t offer much in the way of privacy, but that’s the trade off for convenience. There are two potable water spigots in the campground. The bathhouse offers warm showers, 2 dishwashing sinks, and a coin-operated washer and dryer. The facilities are kept very clean. On the weekends it can get pretty crowded, so it tends to be louder at night then, but the camp hosts and the rangers do a good job of enforcing quiet hours. Access points to several trails are very near the campground. As with all PA state parks, alcohol is prohibited. The park doesn’t have a camp store, however, there is a small general store on Route 390 (The Lake Store) just north of the park that would have any essentials you may have forgotten, as well as ice for your cooler.

    Montrose Campground

Family and pet friendly year-around campground

We tried this campground a few times for short stays and ended up going seasonal last year and will do the same this year. It is a little off the beaten path but is great for families (plenty of activities for kids) and pets (our dog LOVES it there). They have a pool, fishing pond, hiking trails, mini golf, playground, large grassy areas for kids to play, and horseshoe pits. There is a store (stocked with grocery staples/snacks but also TONS of RV specific supplies/parts), laundry and showers (a new and improved bath house is currently being built). There are planned activities almost every weekend during the 'season' but they are open all year with some winter sites available. They have all sites available from tent right up to 50 amp full hook-ups. I can't wait for the new season to begin in April!

    Ricketts Glen State Park Campground

    A must do

This is one of the best camping experiences we've had. This state park has so much to offer and the campground is very nice. The campsites are really good, most of them fairly private and level. There are some pull through sites for big rigs but those don't have trees and are not private. We had a site with power for our small trailer and it was fantastic. The bathrooms were kept very clean and they had 4 showers so we never had to wait. There is absolutely no cell service, however, and we had to go all the way down the mountain to get texts or make calls. The trails are very well maintained. If you want to do the Falls Trail ( 21 beautiful waterfalls), it is quite challenging. We were glad to have trecking poles and hiking boots. It took us over 4 hours to do the entire hike. There is a nice beach for swimming, the lake felt clean and wasn't too cold in July. Lake Jean is nice to kayak and there are quite a few tent sites you can launch your watercraft from, as well as 2 public launch sites. I was worried about the weather because it was 98 degrees in NJ but as the park is up in elevation, we did not get over the mid 80's the whole time we were there and the mornings were quite cool. I definitely recommend this park. It does get very busy on weekends so if you can stay during the week it's much nicer.

Guide to Noxen

Recreational vehicle camping near Noxen, Pennsylvania centers around the Pocono Mountains region with its hardwood forests, rolling hills, and access to the Susquehanna River watershed. Sitting at elevations between 1,000-2,000 feet, this area experiences cool summer nights even when days reach the 80s. Seasonal camping options typically operate from April through October, with many campgrounds completely closing during winter months due to harsh weather conditions.

What to do

Waterfall hiking: 22 waterfalls at Ricketts Glen State Park Campground provide exceptional natural attractions. "The biggest draw to this state park (which no one in Pennsylvania I spoke with seemed to know about) is the 22 waterfalls! We saw 18 of them on a four-mile moderate hike, but if you want to see the additional four, you could make it a seven-mile hike," notes one visitor.

Mountain biking: Blue Mountain Resort trails offer unique downhill experiences at Blue Mountain RV and Camping Resort where visitors can "ride the ski lifts up to the top of the mountain then you get to bike down it, they have rental bikes available or bring your own. You can also Zip line or swing through the trees if you would rather."

Kayaking: Lake Jean access provides good paddling for beginners. "A nice lake where you can rent boats or tie up your own right on the lake near the campground. Just the right size lake for kayaking," reports a camper at Frances Slocum State Park.

What campers like

Spacious pull-through sites: Larger rigs find good accommodation at certain campgrounds. "Pull thru sites are large and have plenty of space. Location is crucial venues to I-80 but no traffic noise," notes a visitor to Indian Head Campground.

Clean bathroom facilities: Campers consistently mention well-maintained facilities at certain locations. At Frances Slocum State Park Campground, visitors note "Clean bathroom and shower with hot water. Very clear camp site," making it suitable for weekend stays.

Privacy between sites: Some campgrounds offer better separation between camping spots. "We had site 44 in the Stony Point loop and it was by far the largest campsite on the property. We had a thick covered wooded area to our right and a huge grassy area to the left," reports a camper at Frances Slocum.

What you should know

Limited cell service: Coverage varies significantly between campgrounds and carriers. At Moyers Grove Campground, "there was no cell service or internet for AT&T users. (Verizon did have some service.)," making advance planning essential.

Seasonal operating dates: Many campgrounds close during colder months. Clayton Park RV Escape operates from "May 1 - Oct 15," limiting late-season camping options.

Water spigot distances: Hookup layouts can create challenges at some sites. At Moyers Grove, campers advise to "Make sure you have a LONG water hose. We actually had to buy a 50 foot hose in the camp store to accommodate the distance to the spigot."

Standing water concerns: Site drainage varies after rain. "The site we stayed on was a swamp! It was terrible... Plenty of other great sites but several butt up against standing water which is nasty," warns a tent camper at Frances Slocum State Park.

Tips for camping with families

Pool facilities: Stonybrook RV Resort offers swimming options suitable for children. "Their pool looked very nice although we did not use it. Same with their patio set up around the store," notes a family who visited during Memorial Day weekend.

Playground access: Several campgrounds include play equipment for children. At Stonybrook, visitors appreciate that "There's a nice playground and a GaGa pit."

Water safety awareness: Parents should monitor lake conditions closely. At Frances Slocum, campers warn "DO NOT take your pups to the water. There is a weird bacteria or algae currently growing in the lake, it's completely visible. There are advisories around about it too."

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: RV campers report varying site conditions. At Clayton Park RV Escape, one RVer had "a boo boo" related to their black water tank but noted "They were very nice and forgiving. It was a nice welcoming place."

Hookup availability: Full-service sites aren't universal in the region. Stonybrook RV Resort provides "full hookups including 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections," making it suitable for longer stays.

Site dimensions: Larger rigs need to verify accommodation. "Nice campground, very very level site," reports an RV camper at Stonybrook, though they noted it was "Mostly seasonal campers, we were one of the few transient campers for our visit."
