Best RV Parks & Resorts near Laporte, PA

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Several RV campgrounds operate near Laporte with options for various rig sizes and amenity preferences. Pioneer Campground provides spacious RV sites with electric hookups, water access, and sewer connections from April through early December. Sites accommodate big rigs and are set on level terrain with gravel pads. "The sites are HUGE and level, it's easy to maneuver your rig through the campground area," notes one camper about the state park camping experience in this region. Worlds End State Park Campground offers year-round RV sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups that can accommodate larger vehicles. Ricketts Glen State Park Campground, located about 20 miles east of Laporte, features pull-through motorhome sites with 50-amp electrical service and full utility connections.

Access to most RV parks requires navigating rural Pennsylvania roads with occasional steep grades and tight turns. The approach to Ricketts Glen includes a challenging 18% grade for approximately two miles—proper brake management is essential when towing. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region; some parks have minimal coverage even with signal boosters. Dump stations are available at most established campgrounds, though Pioneer Campground staff sometimes provides pumping service during busy weekends. Many RV parks in the area close for winter, with limited full-hookup options available between November and March. Propane is available at select locations, including Pioneer Campground. During peak fall foliage season, advance reservations are strongly recommended as these campgrounds fill quickly.

    Williamsport South-Nittany Mountain KOA

    Great Four Day Camp

We spent four nights here (May 13-17, 2022). This is a nice, well run, family oriented CG (a lot of kids on the weekend) with reasonably level pull through and back-in gravel sites (quite a few long term campers).

There are many activities available: swimming pool, recreation hall, fishing pond, biking, hiking/walking, mini golf, jumping pillow, playground, basketball, shuffleboard and more.

The office store is nice (ice cream and pizza made to order!). The laundry room was clean. We did not make use of the bathrooms or showers.

Golf carts are available for rent so there was a lot of traffic(some towing portable waste tanks).

Pay attention to the Theme Weekend Events– they will be crowded and there could be an additional fee. We were charged$20 for the Care Camp Weekend.

The cable TV and WiFi were good as was cell phone reception.

    We would stay here again.

    Stony MT Family Campground

    We’d do it again!

Not cheap but we’ll within area norms. This camp has many long term campers that are friendly and helpful and some have children with them. Some full-time rigs are weekend campers. Some weekend events are planned. Most sites have full hookups with 50 amp electric only so if needed have an adapter (available at the small camp store. We had an unplanned extension on our visit that included a weekend where a group was scheduled and the park was booked including our site. The friendly staff worked to ensure a temporary site for us for the weekend.

    Pine Cradle Lake Family Campground

Great campground in PA northern tier

The owners do a fantastic job keeping the campground shipshape. Restrooms/showers are immaculate any time of day. Heated swimming pool and the splash pad for kiddies is spotless as well. Nice, pull-through on gravel pad withfull-hookups that can take large rigs. Lake is lovely for fishing/kayaks/canoes. Seasonal campers are tidy. Only a few tent sites with water & electricity tucked into woods. Larger pull-through sites don't get a lot of shade, but there are back-in sites for shorter campers in wooded sites and shaded lake front, as well. Campground store sells ice-cream & nachos and supplies. Campground is pretty quiet during the week, but fills up on weekends with guests using own (or renting) golf carts. Activities on weekends. The campground sits atop one of NEPA's "rolling hills" in quiet, rural farming area. Cell service is spotty. Local winery/cafe just down the road for tastings and lunch. Row boat, paddle boat rentals.

    Williamsport South-Nittany Mountain KOA

    Wooded campground

Very wooded campground. Gravel pad was narrow so the picnic table was within two feet of the trailer side. We had a pull through site that was uneven front to back so that our tongue jack was all the way down to get level enough. Side to side it was fine. The playground was excellent. The camp store was new looking and well stocked. The staff was friendly.

No breed restrictions for dogs. The dog park was good.

    Riverside Campground & Riverside Roadhouse

    Very Nice RV Park

Very clean and we'll managed campground. Sites are a little close in some areas, but are nice. WSE at leach sure. There are cute cabins and a tent area. Great restaurant on site with music on weekends with local bands or DJs. New Owners have worked hard to improve the park. There are no permanent sites, but they do have seasonal sites. Everything from pop ups to big rigs can be seen. Nice clean pool and rest rooms. Clean well equipped laundry. Park is close to hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and larger and small towns. Huge playground ajoins the Park. Staff is friendly and helpful.

    Montrose Campground

Family and pet friendly year-around campground

We tried this campground a few times for short stays and ended up going seasonal last year and will do the same this year. It is a little off the beaten path but is great for families (plenty of activities for kids) and pets (our dog LOVES it there). They have a pool, fishing pond, hiking trails, mini golf, playground, large grassy areas for kids to play, and horseshoe pits. There is a store (stocked with grocery staples/snacks but also TONS of RV specific supplies/parts), laundry and showers (a new and improved bath house is currently being built). There are planned activities almost every weekend during the 'season' but they are open all year with some winter sites available. They have all sites available from tent right up to 50 amp full hook-ups. I can't wait for the new season to begin in April!

    Happy Acres Resort

Nestled in the mountains of PA

Stayed for 5 nights with a partial hook up for our brand new 32 foot travel trailer. Other reviewers had mentioned that sites were small, so we specifically asked for a larger site. We ended up getting a corner site right on the edge of a hill looking down on the main office and playground. It was perfect. Playground was huge with multiple playsets suitable for all ages. Bathrooms/showers we're clean and well kept. There was a basketball court, shuffleboard and carpet pool that you could borrow equipment for. Our son and his family rented a wolf den cabin and it was very clean as well. Internet access was spotty, as expected but WiFi at the main office was good. We enjoyed the small, but very clean pool. Would definitely go back. Pet friendly, but there isn't a dog park/off leash area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Right across the street from little pine state park.

    Little Mexico Campground

    Friendly Staff

Little Mexico is a nice campground with lots of activities in the summer, situated on Penn’s Creek about 15 minutes from Lewisburg, PA. We camped there twice this summer and had enjoyable visits. The road leading to the campground is narrow and winding, but we didn’t experience any trouble. Check in was a breeze as all the paperwork and payment were taken care of prior to arrival and all we needed to do was pick up our gate pass, map and head to the site. The employees in the front office are amazing and some of the friendliest you will meet. The other employees we interacted with during our stays were equally as friendly and helpful!

Overall the sites are good sized, level and the majority have full hook-ups. The water pressure is good, electric stable, and good cable TV connections. There is no internet at the sites and only a moderate cell phone signal. Most of the transient sites are right next to each other with little barriers between. Tubs of wood can be delivered to the site and this good quality firewood! For$10 a load, stock up because it burns well with little obnoxious smoke.

There are various activities each weekend during the summer, a huge pool, playground, mini-golf, and of course Penn’s Creek to float. The only negative would be some of the seasonal sites do not feel the quiet hour times apply to them. Overall, Little Mexico is a nice campground in a beautiful location, with great people operating it!

Guide to Laporte

Campsites near Laporte, Pennsylvania offer diverse terrain with elevations ranging between 1,400-2,200 feet within the Endless Mountains region. The area receives approximately 45 inches of annual rainfall, creating lush forest conditions and seasonal streams throughout many campgrounds. Fall temperatures average 45-65°F during peak foliage season, with morning fog common in valley locations.

What to do

Waterfall hiking trails: Ricketts Glen State Park Campground features 22 named waterfalls along its trail system. "The hike is definitely not for the easily winded people, or anyone with bad knees, the hike down was pretty steep at some points but very well maintained," notes one visitor about the falls trail at Ricketts Glen State Park Campground.

Lake activities: Lake Jean at Ricketts Glen provides swimming and boating options during summer months. "Beach and lake activities are available as well," mentions one camper who visited specifically for the waterfalls but found additional recreation opportunities.

Local festivals: Seasonal events occur throughout the region from spring through fall. "We enjoyed our weekend stay at Moyer's Grove. The sites were a nice size and were well shaded," reports a visitor who encountered activities like "fish fry, ceramics painting class, rubber duck race" during their stay at Moyers Grove Campground.

Stargazing opportunities: The region's minimal light pollution creates excellent night sky viewing conditions. "The stars are incredible here! I usually come in the fall in October/early November," shares a camper about Worlds End State Park, noting it's "not extremely packed with campers and the leaves are beautiful."

What campers like

Spacious campsites: Pioneer Campground offers generously sized sites set in wooded terrain. "Our site was pretty nice, but there is very little privacy as the sites are so close to each other," contrasts a visitor at Worlds End State Park Campground showing the variety of campsite layouts available near Laporte.

Private bathroom facilities: Multiple campgrounds feature individual bathroom units rather than communal facilities. "I do have to say I love the bath houses here. They are each their own individual rooms split into shower/changing room," reports a visitor about Lake Glory Campground.

Wildlife viewing: Natural settings provide opportunities to observe local fauna. "We enjoyed our weekend stay at Moyer's Grove. The sites were a nice size and were well shaded. The campground was quiet and peaceful. We saw deer daily. There are 3 resident geese who wander around near the creek and lakes."

Creek-side camping: Multiple campgrounds offer sites along streams or creeks. "We love the creek side sites! Kids can wade in the water to cool off while parents are chatting and cooking just few feet away," mentions a Lake Glory visitor describing the appeal of waterfront camping.

What you should know

Limited connectivity: Cell service is minimal or non-existent at many campgrounds in the region. "No cell service, which is refreshing. The sound of the creek nearby is really soothing," notes a camper at Worlds End State Park, while another points out "no service (Verizon)" at the same location.

Weather preparations: Fall camping requires additional cold-weather gear. "If you come in the fall, make sure you bring a cold weather sleeping bag or heater because the temp does drop," advises a regular visitor to Worlds End.

Water access variations: Water hookup configurations differ significantly between campgrounds. "Make sure you have a LONG water hose. We actually had to buy a 50 foot hose in the camp store to accommodate the distance to the spigot," warns a visitor to Moyers Grove.

Seasonal availability: Most rv sites near Laporte, Pennsylvania operate on limited schedules. "We were there in October, and the weekend they went they had a really cool walk through 'haunted woods' that was a lot of fun," shares a visitor to Pioneer Campground, which operates from April through early December.

Tips for camping with families

Halloween weekends: Special events for children occur during autumn months. "This has become a new tradition for our family and friends. We started with a trip in the summer because of their candy bar hunt and heated swimming pool... We love decorating the sites and taking the kids trick or treating," shares a family who visits Pioneer Campground regularly.

Swimming options: Several campgrounds maintain swimming facilities. "The pool was great, the kids loved the water slides," notes a visitor to Splash Magic RV Resort, adding "There is so much to do. We should have looked into a pass to do more because the extras can get expensive."

Trail difficulty considerations: Evaluate hiking trails based on children's abilities. "There are various trails for all skill levels, and pets are welcome!" mentions a Ricketts Glen visitor, while another adds specific details about the falls trail: "the hike down was pretty steep at some points but very well maintained!"

Playground amenities: Check for dedicated play areas at campgrounds. "The playground was really nice," notes a Splash Magic visitor, while another mentions that at Lake Glory there is "a play ground for the kids."

Tips from RVers

Site leveling requirements: Bring necessary equipment for uneven terrain. "The sites themselves are well kept and have a big fire pit and picnic table. I would suggest getting there while it is still light out, there is plenty of room on the roads to get your rig around the campground, but there are lots of trees and it gets a little hard sometimes to see where the road is vs a site," advises a visitor to Pioneer Campground.

RV service considerations: Some campgrounds offer additional services during busy periods. "The owner John was going around pumping people out Sunday morning when the line to the dump station was long," reports a visitor to Pioneer Campground, highlighting staff flexibility during peak times.

Limited hookup options: Verify utility connections when booking motorhome sites. "There are no hookups at all in the park," notes a camper about Red Rock Mountain Campground, contrasting with the full-service RV sites available at other locations.

Electrical capacity concerns: Power fluctuations can occur during peak usage periods. "Electric ran below 110 volts the entire weekend and the water had a brownish tint to it. It was a VERY hot weekend so I should mention that everyone had their air running," reports a Splash Magic visitor, noting how weather affects utility performance.
