Best RV Parks & Resorts near Trail, OR

Several RV parks serve the Trail area with varying amenities and access. Southern Oregon RV Park in Central Point features concrete pads with full hookups including 50-amp electrical service, sewer, and water connections. The park accommodates big rigs with pull-through sites and offers clean shower facilities. Crater Lake RV Park in Prospect operates year-round with 50-amp service and is positioned as a basecamp for Crater Lake National Park visitors. Flycasters RV Park in Shady Cove provides spacious sites with full hookups suitable for larger motorhomes. Riverpark RV Resort in Grants Pass maintains year-round operations with concrete pads and reliable utility connections. "Sites are level with grass and fire pits. There is a walking bike trail that goes along Bear Creek to Ashland."

Advance reservations are recommended during summer months when parks fill quickly with Crater Lake visitors. Most RV parks in the region provide sanitary dump stations, though availability varies by location. Seven Feathers RV Resort prohibits campfires but offers extensive amenities for motorhome travelers seeking more luxurious accommodations. Parks along I-5 experience moderate highway noise, particularly noticeable at Southern Oregon RV Park where one camper noted "traffic noise in park is intense." Big rig maneuverability can be challenging at some locations, especially at parks with mature trees like Medford Oaks where a visitor reported difficulty with "a tree that was way too hard to manage around pulling in." Winter travelers should verify seasonal closures and water hookup availability, as some parks winterize their systems during colder months.

    Joseph H. Stewart County Park

    Great State Park

We chose an RV hookup site for our 40' coach with tow vehicle. 30 amp power but based on forecasted cold weather they had turned off the water at the sites. Potable water was available at the dump station. Free warm showers and flush toilets. However, the bathrooms are old and appear dirty and grimy (rust stains, chipped paint, etc). Great walking and bath paths at the park and close enough to visit Crater Lake National Park. Large trees within the park though it doesn't provide much privacy with camp neighbors. In late October they had reduced the open loops but there was a good mix of tent and RV campers.

Ashland's Creekside Campground & RV Park

    Undergoing Improvements

At highway 66 near Ashland this park has both RV and tent sites. The RV sites are full/partial hook up (30 amp only) and dry camping. Note though that even if you pay for partial or dry you will still need to pay $10/dump your tanks. We opted for just full hook ups here. The tent sites are near the creek.

There was some work being done that appear to be some upgrades. There is a nice pool area, a pond and the creek. The sites are level with picnic tables and fire pits. There are bathrooms, free hot showers, laundry, dog run, playground and store. Also available is propane ($3.50/gallon) book exchange and ice. Wifi was fast and free.

The road noise is noticeable but not too bad. Some of the spots can be close but for a night it wasn't bad. Pets are allowed on leash only but there were a couple of loose dogs running around so be aware.

NOTE: Google tells you to turn on the street (Neil Creek Rd) just after the park so if you have a big rig then turning around could be difficult. Keep an eye out for the campground and turn into it directly from the main road instead.

All the office and maintenance staff were friendly and helpful and neighbors were friendly and quiet.  We didn't get the tweaker vibe mentioned in some previous reviews. This place is cute - maybe there are new owners (who changed the name from Glenyan to Ashland Creekside, maybe?) who are trying to turn things around.

Good cell service ATT, Verizon and TMobile.

    Waterwheel RV Park & Campground

Nice RV Park to Explore the Area

Easy check in in this quaint little RV park right off OR 97 on the Williamson River. We were directed to our pull through site 26 with water and electric but only 30 AMP. We had to disconnect and park in the little field across from or trailer, which was not a big deal. Our site had 30 AMP but there were 50 AMP spots in the middle and on the river rows. All three rows with RV hook ups had sites close together as we had to adjust our rig to clear trees so we could get our slides out. There were plenty of areas to include a small playground and large grass area to walk the dogs. Verizon cell, cable, and the WIFI all worked well. Water Wheel was a well kept campground with 32 RV sites plus a private island connected by a small walking bridge across the river for tent campers. If we were tent campers this would definitely be a great place to camp. We enjoyed exploring the area.  We would stay here again, but would definitely book in advance to get a river row site with 50 AMPs.

    Waterwheel RV Park & Campground

    Great Location & Great People

We stayed for one week in site#23 with 50-amp electric service and water. Only the middle row of the park has full hookups, although the park has been making improvements since the current owners took over a couple of years ago. The manager and camp hosts are terrific! Very welcoming and very friendly. Most of the sites are small. There are a couple of sites that are a little bit bigger, especially those sites facing East. Site#11 is the best, in my opinion, as your patio would be right on the river! Aside from the size of the small site, the only downer for us is there weren't a lot of places to walk our dog without driving somewhere and no enclosed dog area. Otherwise, the park is dog-friendly. Plus, you and your dog can swim in the Williamson River that is there onsite. Cell signals from AT&T and Verizon provided enough connectivity for us to work during the week. AT&T, in particular, had a very good and strong signal.  As the park is only about 40 minutes from Crater Lake National Park's South Entrance.

Rising River RV Resort & River House

Cute RV Park near the river

Super friendly rv management and staff- could not have been more welcoming. There are 2 dog runs, laundry, showers and bathrooms on site. Small store in the management office for sundries and rv gear. There are some full timers who live in the park but seem to be isolated in 1 part of the park.

Gravel pad, no cement. 30 & 50 amp hookups along with water, sewer, cable and WiFi. WiFi drops often and can’t be used for streaming. No troubles with ATT cellular service.

Park is next to a mobile home park that may be sketchy, but the RV park is a gated community that needs a passcode from 6 pm to 8am daily. I felt perfectly safe within the park but there is no food or shopping within walking distance. Not far drive though is a grocery mart and plentiful restaurants. Roseburg itself has everything you could need within a 10-15 min drive from the park.

I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

Note: spot 62 was close to Hwy 99 and you can here the traffic if your windows are open.

    Annie Creek Sno-Park

    Great off season camping

Camped here night before visiting Crater Lake National Park. Only 20min from entrance. Oct 1-Nov 1 it is free to camp in Sno park -after Nov 1 you will need a Sno pass permit. Can camp in parking lot at top of park or drive down into forest for better private spots, even some on a creek. Road is dirt and bumby so don't recommend for big rigs or trailers. Our camper van did just fine and we saw cars camped down there. Beautiful night sky with stars twinkling above the forest trees. Definitely would go back and recommend to people going to Crater Lake. Felt safe. -we tried dispersed camping (Odessa hwy 140) near upper Klamath falls lake that was sketchy and too secluded.

    Waterwheel RV Park & Campground

    A decent RV park

We are generally not fans of RV parks but there were not a lot of options on our route near Klamath Falls. There are 34 sites; sites 12-20 are full hookup; the others have water and electricity. Sites 1-11 have Williamson River front views. The full hookup sites are in the center and have no privacy between them (but people in these sites would typically have larger RVs and not need privacy as much). In my opinion, Site 11 is the best site as it is a corner site with the most privacy.

The restrooms/showers are immaculate and are accessed via a keypad. There is also a very nice laundry room, playground (a bit dated), boat ramp, small beach (tents can set up here) and fire pit, and a dump station. There is actually a waterwheel! Cell service is strong and there is free WiFi.

Note that this park is located on Highway 97 and you will hear road-noise, especially at night when everything else quiets down. Despite this, we had a pleasant stay and Tracy in the office was very nice and helpful (we needed an additional 30 amp tail to use the electric and she provided us one to borrow).

Emigrant Lake Recreation Area - Oak Slope Campground

We drove through and chose not to stay

This portion of the camping area is called Oak Slope, the other being on the lake for RVs for residents displaced by fires.

For Oak Slope:   Imagine a steep tiered parking lot with narrow spaces. The whole campground is on a hill so the higher sites just look down on the lower sites. Most sites are visible from any other site. The sites were not very level and they were narrow, as was the loop. The campground also backs to private property. All sites are dirt with paved parking, with picnic tables and fire pits. Some pull throughs.

There were bathrooms, one of which someone decided to dump a washer and dryer at. There weren’t too many campers when we went but I can imagine that on a weekend it would be awful. It is close to the lake which has bathrooms and playground.

We did not stay here. We picked a spot but then changed our minds and then left. There is an RV dump here. Cell reception with ATT, Verizon and TMobile.

Ashland's Creekside Campground & RV Park

Great price, good vibe, loud road, bad showers

Good points: I think this is the cheapest campground with amenities near Ashland, only $27.50/night for a tent site with a water pump. The place didn't feel sketchy at all- although there are clearly some long term residents, it feels well-run and family friendly. Wifi was surprisingly fast and reached all the way over to the tent sites, and there is a place near the bathrooms to wash dishes. All tent sites were shady with large blackberry bushes providing privacy on three sides.

The not-so-good: the tent sites have a road right behind them that's often busy and loud. The showers in the women's restroom have unbelievably poor water pressure, and the water temp fluctuated from boiling to freezing for no reason unless you twitched the dial just right. Also, there's no place to hang a hammock near the tent sites but that's just a quibble.

Guide to Trail

RV parks near Trail, Oregon offer level, paved sites with varying seasonal availability. Temperatures typically range from 30°F in winter to 90°F in summer, with most parks experiencing peak occupancy from June through September. Higher elevation parks like Crater Lake RV Park receive significant snowfall, while valley locations remain accessible year-round with occasional icy conditions.

What to do

Outdoor recreation access: Crater Lake RV Park positions campers for waterfall hikes and Crater Lake exploration. "My wife and i spent a few days here exploring the local area, there is a lot more to see here than just crater lake. The staff were very friendly and knew the area well, recommending good attractions for us," notes Thomas B.

Walking trails: Riverpark RV Resort offers riverside camping with trail access. David M. reports: "Stayed long term here and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful, grounds are well kept and tidy. Bathrooms and laundry rooms are clean and in great shape. Near to shopping and sightseeing as well as many other attractions."

Family activities: Sunny Valley Campground features recreation facilities open spring through fall. Laura S. shares: "Nice spot with good vibes. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There was coffee in the morning in the office which was nice. We had some privacy because we went during the off season. The nice ammeneties made it feel a bit like glamping even though we were car camping."

What campers like

Spacious sites: Most RV parks Trail, Oregon feature concrete pads with room for larger rigs. At Southern Oregon RV Park, Kevin H. found: "The sites are level and each site has a picnic table and campfire space, as well as small lawn areas. The sites are a good distance from each other. There are restrooms and showers available. Many restaurants and stores nearby."

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention well-maintained bathrooms and grounds. One reviewer at Riverpark RV Resort noted: "Stayed long term here and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful, grounds are well kept and tidy. Bathrooms and laundry rooms are clean and in great shape."

Resort amenities: Seven Feathers RV Resort offers luxury accommodations. "Very nice and so well maintained. Shuttle to casino. A bit close to neighbors but quiet," writes Caryn Z. Another camper, Darcy K., adds: "This rv park is quiet for the number of spaces. There is a covered pool and hot tub building with a fitness club/room."

What you should know

Reservation timing: Book 3-6 months ahead for summer stays, especially at parks near Crater Lake. At Sunny Valley Campground, overnight travelers appreciate the efficient booking process: "The booking was super smooth and all electronic including the confirmation and after hours instruction."

Traffic noise levels: Some RV parks experience highway noise, particularly those along I-5 corridors. A Bridgeview RV Park guest observed: "The Bridgeview RV Park is nice, comfortable, clean and quiet. The only exception is that I-5 is right across the river. During the day it's not so bad, but I like playing music to sleep to at night."

Winter operations: Most valley RV parks remain open year-round with limited amenities. At Holiday RV Park, Michael C. found: "This park is one of several that came through the fire. For 8 bucks we were able to dump, rinse and fill up our fresh water. With the close proximity to both I-5 and HWY 99 we found the park surprisingly quiet."

Tips for camping with families

Pool access: Several parks offer swimming facilities during summer months. At Sunny Valley Campground, a visitor noted: "We arrived super late and left super early but the campground is safe, clean, and well put together. It's actually beautiful and has a lot of things for families to do (pool, volleyball net, playground)."

Dog-friendly options: Many Trail-area RV parks have designated pet areas. "The park is really nice and friendly," reports Dean from Southern Oregon RV Park, while Nicholas H. at Sunny Valley Campground adds: "There's also a dog park, which my dog loved!"

Seasonal activities: Schedule your visit to coincide with special events. Aaron K. shares about Sunny Valley: "I had an amazing trip! The staff was super helpful and friendly. They helped me find a new campsite to make sure my hammocks would hang properly. They also have a really fun Halloween setup during that season."

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Request spots away from main roads for less noise. Louise L. from Southern Oregon RV Park recommends: "Recommend a spot away from the freeway, but the noise did not bother us too much. Hiking path behind the park that connects several towns. Park also has a small fishing lake."

Maneuverability: Most parks accommodate large rigs with pull-through sites. Butch S. notes about Holiday RV Park: "Nice place, clean, large areas to maneuver into your spot. Great place. Clean, spacious and conveniently located!"

Utility reliability: Full hookup quality varies by location. Travis A. shares about Sunny Valley: "Prices are very reasonable for RVs, sewage water electric all available at most spots. Beautiful little area with lots of trees to keep you cool. I also love the place because they don't have a bunch of long term tenants, that can really be a bummer sometimes."
