Terrible Staff and Rules

An utterly disappointing experience from start to finish. The staff were unwelcoming and dismissive, setting the tone for a stay that only worsened by the hour. The showers lacked hot water entirely—an unacceptable oversight for even the most basic of campgrounds.

Our RV site was so poorly graded that achieving a level setup proved impossible, even with extensive adjustment. At one point, I had three wheels completely off the ground, a clear indication of negligent site maintenance.

To add insult to injury, we were forced to remove our car dolly from our designated spot—despite no rule explicitly prohibiting it. The posted regulations referenced boat trailers only. Staff proceeded to relocate the dolly themselves, dragging it in such a careless manner that the electrical connector was ruined, leaving me no choice but to source a replacement in the next town.

I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this campground to anyone—unless proximity to Crater Lake is your sole priority and you’re willing to tolerate rude service, inadequate facilities, and a blatant disregard for guest property.

Lovely, rustic site nestled in beauty

Camp staff was very friendly and helpful. Location next to diamond Lake with views of Mount Bailey and Mount Thielson is wonderful. Facilities are well-used but functional (did not try the showers).

Good creater lake location

Full service RV Park in the national Forest 40 minutes from Crater lake rim. Large Park in the woods. Visited in late July and it was only half full. For the weekday pretty quiet and peaceful. Some deferred maintenance like roadways crumbling in spots but all the basics were met. Great little pizza restaurant on the lakes edge is just walking distance.

Nice and quiet.

Campground near the lake, with full hook-ups. Disappointing , and for us a disadvantage, there was no cellphone reception and no internet acces possible Also no WiFi available.

Crater Lake

I picked this campground because of it's proximity to Crater Lake NP. There are tons of options for camping in the area, so honestly, I was disappointed with the place. The biggest was no wifi or cell reception! The forest service campgrounds directly on the lake had cell service and lake views. I did have full hookups, but the sights are bunched together with little privacy. You have to drive 3 miles to access the Resorts restaurant, beach, and store. You could rent boats and bicycles at the main resort. I was more impressed with the KOA on Lemolo Lake a few miles away, then I was here.

Great Lake for Trout Fishing

Nice sites set in giant fir trees with full hookups. Sites have concrete with gravel and walking distance to the lake and south shore Pizza Parlor. Boat ramp is within a few minutes drive. When the bites on the fishing is amazing. Have never been skunked on this lake. From mid August on the bugs are few. There is a 12 mile walking/bike path around the lake that is beautiful.

Quiet and comfortable

We stayed here mid June 2018, it was very quiet. We arrived late at night and were able to find a site to stay in with little difficulty. The mosquito population, however, was quite thick at that time if year so cooking during the daytime wasn't as fun as we would have liked. Overall it was pretty and clean. We would stay here again, but possibly in the mosquito off season.

Camper access with great views

Typical drive through RV campground. Sites located between main highway and lake edge. There is some distance between sites and each has a pretty good view of the water. Hiking / biking path around lake gives you access to a pizza parlor and Diamond Lake lodge with swimming and boat rentals. Great for bike riding.

Frequently Asked Questions

What amenities are available at Diamond Lake RV Park in Oregon?

Diamond Lake RV Park offers full hookup RV sites with concrete pads and gravel surroundings. The campground provides basic facilities including showers, though quality may vary. Located near the lake, campers have easy access to a hiking/biking path that circles Diamond Lake. Nearby amenities include the South Shore Pizza Parlor within walking distance, and Diamond Lake Lodge which offers swimming and boat rentals. A boat ramp is located just a few minutes' drive away. Note that the park does not offer WiFi and has no cell phone reception, which may be important for planning your stay.

How is Diamond Lake RV Park laid out and where are the best camping spots located?

Diamond Lake RV Park is situated between the main highway and the lake's edge, with sites arranged in a typical drive-through RV campground layout. The campground is set among giant fir trees, creating a forested atmosphere. Sites offer reasonable spacing between neighbors, with many providing views of the water. Site K4 has been specifically noted as spacious with nice views. The best spots are generally those with direct lake views, which many sites offer. The full-service park is quite large, extending through the wooded area. For optimal positioning, request sites closer to the lake that offer views of Mount Bailey and Mount Thielsen when making reservations.

Are there photos available of Diamond Lake RV Park's campsites and facilities?

Photos of Diamond Lake RV Park can be found on camping websites and apps like The Dyrt, where users upload images of the sites and facilities. These photos typically showcase the spacious RV sites with their concrete pads, the surrounding tall fir trees, and views of the lake. Some images may also display the proximity to Diamond Lake and the scenic backdrop of Mount Bailey and Mount Thielsen. For the most current and comprehensive collection of photos, check the official Diamond Lake Resort website or contact the campground directly to request visual information before your visit.

What do reviews say about Diamond Lake RV Park compared to other nearby campgrounds?

Diamond Lake RV Park receives mixed feedback when compared to nearby alternatives. The park's proximity to Crater Lake National Park (about 40 minutes away) is considered a key advantage. However, several visitors note that Forest Service campgrounds directly on Diamond Lake offer better cell service and potentially superior lake views. The RV Park's full hookups are appreciated, but the lack of WiFi and cell reception is frequently cited as a disadvantage. Some visitors mention that while functional, the facilities show signs of deferred maintenance. For those prioritizing amenities and connectivity, other area campgrounds might be preferable, while those seeking full hookups in a forested setting may prefer this location.
