Best RV Parks & Resorts near Grants Pass, OR

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Grants Pass provides multiple RV campgrounds with river access and full-service amenities. Riverpark RV Resort offers full hookups with 50-amp electrical service on paved sites directly on the Rogue River. Southern Oregon RV Park features concrete pads with fire pits, while Sunny Valley Campground accommodates larger motorhomes with both 30 and 50-amp connections across its 51 sites. "About 1/3 of the campsites are adjacent to the Rogue river and all of the others have a view of the river," noted one guest about Riverpark. Chinook Winds RV Park and Laughing Alpaca Campground provide additional options within driving distance, with the latter offering year-round accessibility for RVs up to big-rig class.

Seasonal considerations affect availability throughout the region. Sunny Valley Campground operates from March through October, while several parks like Riverpark RV Resort and Seven Feathers RV Resort remain open year-round. Most parks offer sanitary dump stations, though proximity to Interstate 5 creates variable ambient noise levels at certain locations. A recent review mentioned that Southern Oregon RV Park has "well groomed sites with concrete pad, fire pit and table with FHU." Pet areas vary significantly between properties, with Southern Oregon providing a designated dog park, though one visitor noted it was "too small." Cell service remains reliable near major highways, with propane refill options available in town rather than at most campgrounds.

    Joseph H. Stewart County Park

    Great State Park

We chose an RV hookup site for our 40' coach with tow vehicle. 30 amp power but based on forecasted cold weather they had turned off the water at the sites. Potable water was available at the dump station. Free warm showers and flush toilets. However, the bathrooms are old and appear dirty and grimy (rust stains, chipped paint, etc). Great walking and bath paths at the park and close enough to visit Crater Lake National Park. Large trees within the park though it doesn't provide much privacy with camp neighbors. In late October they had reduced the open loops but there was a good mix of tent and RV campers.

Ashland's Creekside Campground & RV Park

    Undergoing Improvements

At highway 66 near Ashland this park has both RV and tent sites. The RV sites are full/partial hook up (30 amp only) and dry camping. Note though that even if you pay for partial or dry you will still need to pay $10/dump your tanks. We opted for just full hook ups here. The tent sites are near the creek.

There was some work being done that appear to be some upgrades. There is a nice pool area, a pond and the creek. The sites are level with picnic tables and fire pits. There are bathrooms, free hot showers, laundry, dog run, playground and store. Also available is propane ($3.50/gallon) book exchange and ice. Wifi was fast and free.

The road noise is noticeable but not too bad. Some of the spots can be close but for a night it wasn't bad. Pets are allowed on leash only but there were a couple of loose dogs running around so be aware.

NOTE: Google tells you to turn on the street (Neil Creek Rd) just after the park so if you have a big rig then turning around could be difficult. Keep an eye out for the campground and turn into it directly from the main road instead.

All the office and maintenance staff were friendly and helpful and neighbors were friendly and quiet.  We didn't get the tweaker vibe mentioned in some previous reviews. This place is cute - maybe there are new owners (who changed the name from Glenyan to Ashland Creekside, maybe?) who are trying to turn things around.

Good cell service ATT, Verizon and TMobile.

Rising River RV Resort & River House

Cute RV Park near the river

Super friendly rv management and staff- could not have been more welcoming. There are 2 dog runs, laundry, showers and bathrooms on site. Small store in the management office for sundries and rv gear. There are some full timers who live in the park but seem to be isolated in 1 part of the park.

Gravel pad, no cement. 30 & 50 amp hookups along with water, sewer, cable and WiFi. WiFi drops often and can’t be used for streaming. No troubles with ATT cellular service.

Park is next to a mobile home park that may be sketchy, but the RV park is a gated community that needs a passcode from 6 pm to 8am daily. I felt perfectly safe within the park but there is no food or shopping within walking distance. Not far drive though is a grocery mart and plentiful restaurants. Roseburg itself has everything you could need within a 10-15 min drive from the park.

I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.

Note: spot 62 was close to Hwy 99 and you can here the traffic if your windows are open.

    Schroeder Park

    Conveniently Located Close to Town

This county park just outside of Grants Pass along the Rogue River is a good overnighter because it is convenient and inexpensive.

It’s $20/night for the tent/ non-hookup sites, $25 for water and electric (30 and 50 amp), and $30 for full hookup. Group camp is $60 and there’s a $5 per add’l vehicle fee.

There’s also a yurt but we didn’t see a cost listed for it.

The park also has FREE hot showers (trick to turn hot water on is to turn the old coin op knob). There is a boat ramp, dog park, and kid park adjacent to camping area. Park takes cash payments at kiosk near the entrance.

The place seems to be a local’s camp as some sites looked more like homeless camps with tarps and and array of stuff laying about. We did not feel unsafe here and everyone minded their own business, were quiet and kept to themselves. The hosts do make frequent rounds throughout the park and offer firewood for sale at $5 for 10 pieces of wood.

We stayed in our 26ft RV in the tent area as it was cheaper and less crowded and we backed up near the river. There is a lot of road noise especially from the road across the river. The roadway within the park is paved and sites are paved or gravel with grass surrounding. All sites are fairly level and have plenty of room. More trees in the hook up areas; the tent areas had few trees and was more open. Picnic tables and fire pits also at every site. We would stay here again if traveling through and needed a place for the night. We stayed here 2 nights during a weekend while waiting for an appointment in Grants Pass.

There are dumpsters here as well as trash bins throughout the campground, but no recycling.

Walkup sites available for that night only, or you can make online reservations 3 days in advance.

Good cell reception with AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon.

Emigrant Lake Recreation Area - Oak Slope Campground

We drove through and chose not to stay

This portion of the camping area is called Oak Slope, the other being on the lake for RVs for residents displaced by fires.

For Oak Slope:   Imagine a steep tiered parking lot with narrow spaces. The whole campground is on a hill so the higher sites just look down on the lower sites. Most sites are visible from any other site. The sites were not very level and they were narrow, as was the loop. The campground also backs to private property. All sites are dirt with paved parking, with picnic tables and fire pits. Some pull throughs.

There were bathrooms, one of which someone decided to dump a washer and dryer at. There weren’t too many campers when we went but I can imagine that on a weekend it would be awful. It is close to the lake which has bathrooms and playground.

We did not stay here. We picked a spot but then changed our minds and then left. There is an RV dump here. Cell reception with ATT, Verizon and TMobile.

Ashland's Creekside Campground & RV Park

Great price, good vibe, loud road, bad showers

Good points: I think this is the cheapest campground with amenities near Ashland, only $27.50/night for a tent site with a water pump. The place didn't feel sketchy at all- although there are clearly some long term residents, it feels well-run and family friendly. Wifi was surprisingly fast and reached all the way over to the tent sites, and there is a place near the bathrooms to wash dishes. All tent sites were shady with large blackberry bushes providing privacy on three sides.

The not-so-good: the tent sites have a road right behind them that's often busy and loud. The showers in the women's restroom have unbelievably poor water pressure, and the water temp fluctuated from boiling to freezing for no reason unless you twitched the dial just right. Also, there's no place to hang a hammock near the tent sites but that's just a quibble.

    Schroeder Park

    Relaxing along the river

If you want to camp along the river in Grants Pass, then this is the spot. It’s clean, family friendly, has bathrooms, and boat/river access. Best spot in the city of Grants Pass for overnight camping. This place tends to have a lot of traffic from locals during the day.

On The River Golf & RV Resort

    Great gateway to the Coast

Great location off the 5 and 42 if you're looking to get to the coast. Also right outside the city of Roseburg. They have a 6 hole 3 par golf course. The course and grounds are kept with fountains and beautiful flowers. Lots of sites with full hookups including sewer. Back in and pull through sites available. Miles of walking trails and a river for tubing or fishing off the docks. Showers and bathrooms available. Women's restroom and laundry room are under construction until October 2023. No laundry room and the park is very dark at night when other RV's aren't around, are the only reasons I didn't give 5 stars. Otherwise the owners are a delight and the full time residents are friendly. Make sure you bring cash, they don't take cards. Which wasn't a big deal, they also gave us a discount for the week. This is a nice family run park and it will definitely go on our 'save for next summer' list.

Guide to Grants Pass

Grants Pass sits along the Rogue River in southwestern Oregon at an elevation of 942 feet. The area experiences warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters, creating a camping season that extends beyond typical summer months. Many RV parks near Grants Pass feature concrete pads rather than gravel sites, providing more stable parking during the region's occasional heavy rains.

What to do

River activities: Rogue River fishing: At Riverpark RV Resort, campers can access prime fishing spots directly from the campground. "The pup and I went for a walk in the morning and were greeted by so many friendly dogs on walks as well," notes one visitor who appreciated the riverside location.

Nearby attractions: Covered bridge visit: Just a short drive from Sunny Valley Campground, you can explore a historic covered bridge. "The nearby covered bridge is neat to see," mentioned a camper who found this local landmark worth visiting during their stay.

Water recreation: Kayaking and paddleboarding: Some parks offer complimentary water equipment. "Our kids enjoyed the river and used the park's kayaks and paddle boards (for free!)," shared a visitor at Laughing Alpaca Campground + RV Park, highlighting unexpected amenities.

What campers like

Swimming pools: Seasonal cooling off: Mr. Bigfoot RV Park provides a welcome escape from summer heat. "The pool was the biggest hit with our team!" reported one visitor, noting it was particularly popular during a baseball tournament stay.

Riverside campsites: River views: Some parks offer premium waterfront options. "Sites on the rivers edge is more expensive obviously!" explained a camper at Riverpark RV Resort, but many feel the upgraded view justifies the price.

Dog-friendly amenities: Pet areas: Many campgrounds around Grants Pass accommodate four-legged campers with designated spaces. Sunny Valley Campground offers "a dog park, which my dog loved!" according to a camper who appreciated this feature.

What you should know

Site selection strategies: Highway noise considerations: Some RV parks are close to major roads. At Holiday RV Park, despite proximity to highways, visitors found "the park surprisingly quiet," with one adding that "with the close proximity to both I-5 and HWY 99 we found the park surprisingly quiet."

Reservation timing: Seasonal availability: Several parks have limited operating seasons. "Sunny Valley Campground operates from March 1 to October 31," according to their listing information, so winter travelers need alternative options.

Shower facilities: Pay showers: Some parks charge for shower use. At Holiday RV Park, a visitor noted ".25 cents for an 8 minute shower. Not that the cost is an issue, its that it takes two minutes for the water to heat up," information helpful for planning morning routines.

Tips for camping with families

Recreational options: On-site activities: Seven Feathers RV Resort offers multiple family-friendly amenities. "Indoor clubhouse with workout area and indoor swimming pool, and obviously free shuttles to the casino," mentioned one visitor describing the resort's facilities.

Budget considerations: Lower cost camping: Finding affordable options matters for family trips. Holiday RV Park provides "a great place to stop and dump your rv tanks. Spacious pull through a w shade. Clean and big swimming pool for over night quests," all at reasonable rates according to reviews.

Safety features: Secure camping: Some parks prioritize safety measures. Seven Feathers was described as having "customer service is outstanding" with staff available to assist families with various needs during their stay.

Tips from RVers

Pull-through convenience: Easy access sites: Multiple RV parks near Grants Pass feature pull-through sites. As one Holiday RV Park visitor noted, "The sites are pull thru, making it easy. Right off of I-5 so easy to find," which simplifies arrival for larger rigs.

Leveling considerations: Concrete pad benefits: Southern Oregon RV Park offers "paved and easy for my wife to move around in a walker," according to one camper, highlighting the accessibility advantage of solid parking surfaces.

Connectivity options: Cell service and Wi-Fi: Digital connectivity varies between locations. One visitor to Southern Oregon RV Park noted it's "a great stopover point while traveling on I5," with adequate connectivity for checking maps and weather during travel.
