Advance reservations are recommended during summer months when coastal parks like Cannon Beach RV Resort and Seaside RV Resort experience high demand. Most parks maintain sanitary dump stations, with some charging additional fees for non-guests. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region, with visitors reporting spotty connections in forested areas versus stronger signals in Portland-area facilities. Many RV parks welcome pets but enforce leash requirements. Winter travelers should note that while most parks remain open year-round, some facilities like pools and outdoor amenities close seasonally. Several locations offer propane filling stations on-site. When navigating to coastal destinations, larger motorhomes may encounter tight turns along Highway 6 between Portland and Tillamook.

    Cannon Beach RV Resort

    Walk to Haystack Rock

Just east of Hwy 101 in Cannon Beach, this RV resort is an easy (really!) 10 minute walk to the beach, just north of Haystack Rock. A sidewalk underpass under 101 and a path through a small city park makes it a family-friendly, dog-friendly walk to the outstanding beach sunsets. A bit longer walk (or easy bike ride) takes you into the heart of Cannon Beach with all the restaurants, ice cream shops, galleries, coffee shops and candy stores. Campground is open year round, has full hook-ups, good wifi, well managed and maintained, has an indoor pool and hot tub (pool facility was closed during covid, check on availability) decent bath houses (also closed during covid), nice sites with lots of tall trees. They also sell propane, firewood and have a gas station. (And they even have an electric car charging station, if you need it) Fun fact: In the winter months you will likely see the local elk herd around town. Note: no tents allowed and our ATT service only has one bar at our site. Would definitely recommend this place for RV camping.

    Columbia River RV Park

Basic Nice RV Park Right in Portland

Located at the northern end of Portland not too far off the 1-5 freeway. RV campground with wide streets, nice office staff, and clean facilities including laundry, clubhouse, group kitchen area and free wi-fi. Grass in-between most spots, with some back-in sites and others being pull-through. Backs up to a busy road blocked by large bushes and under the pathway for the airport, so there's some noise but not horrible. Some full-times but sites are nice and well maintained. Overall nice, clean and well maintained large RV site within the Portland city limits.

    Premier RV Resort

    Nice CG, but small sites

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow. We were in site 57 for 4 days in mid September. Very friendly staff. The CG is clean, quiet and well maintained, but the sites are fairly short and narrow. As others have mentioned, tow vehicles usually extend into or are parked partially on the roads through the CG, but the roads are fairly wide throughout the CG. Also, our slides extended well past the concrete pad on both sides, leaving very little room to get around our RV. The sewer connections are not threaded, so you’ll have to weigh down your sewer hose. There is a fair bit of road noise from the highway. There is a nice open area, off leash pen and network of short trails for walking your dog. AT&T coverage was fair, ranging from 2-4 bars of 5G with speeds up to 19 MB/s. The CG WiFi speed varied considerably, from next to useless up to 1 MB/s. We were able to get DISH coverage on all three western satellites at our site. There were 11 OTA channels to be had with our fixed omni antenna.

Circle Creek RV Park & Campground

Dog friendly open space near Seaside

Large RV campground just south of town. Very quiet. Friendly staff. Dog friendly including a fenced off dog run! The pups were happy to stretch their legs. Clean bathrooms and warm showers. Laundry on site. We stayed on the grass over in boondock side. Level sites. If you need power/water...those sites looked large and had decent amount of space between. We showed up after office hours and we’re still able to snag a spot.

Reeder Beach RV Park & Country Store

    1 Night Stopover

I was worried when Google maps brought me through the industrial section of Portland, but relieved when I crossed the bridge to the Island. Check in was fast and efficient. Can't say the staff was friendly or welcoming, Full hookups, but I don't rate it higher because there is no wifi or laundry facilities. There is also nothing around here store or restaurant wise. I enjoyed the beach and watching the ships pass by. I had good cell service. Riverside back in sites are the best. Pull through provide shade

    Cannon Beach RV Resort

    Elk Bugles and Chuckles

Tucked away in the trees of Cannon Beach is this nice little RV Resort. All amenities were top notch for your needs at a park. The Elk greeted us and were eating all the flowers as we entered. Gas station, propane, laundry, showers, convenience store, pool and two shower/restroom facilities. Paved parking spots with fire pit, picnic tables and full hookup.

Silver Spur RV Park & Resort

    Not terrible.

I ended up here last minute due to weather on the Oregon coast. I’m in a 40’ coach. It’s a very well kept RV park, a lot of long term residents were here. The office is very nice, the lawns are very nice, the office parking lot is asphalt. Has a nice little children’s play area. There are very bumpy gravel driveways to the RV parking spots (possibly just the time of year causing the poor road condition). The RV spaces are very easy to get into being angled. We stayed in a pull through space, easy in and easy out. Only giving a 4star rating for the very small RV spaces. Was very crammed for anything more than a last minute stay.

Guide to Gales Creek

Most RV parks near Gales Creek, Oregon provide sites suitable for various camping setups from large motorhomes to small travel trailers. Camping facilities around this region range from urban locations with city access to more secluded spots near waterways. Rain occurs frequently between October and April with temperatures ranging from 40-80°F depending on season, making weather preparation essential.

What to do

River access activities: Bayport RV Park provides immediate access to water recreation options. "Located right next to a public boat ramp and Next Adventure where you can rent boats... or bring your own for kayaking on Scappoose Bay," notes Ed B. The park features both paved and graveled sites with water, electrical hookups, fire rings and picnic tables.

Coastal exploration: The Oregon coast is accessible within an hour's drive from many Gales Creek area parks. "Ecola state park to the North and Oswald State park and Beach to the south for hikes trail," mentions Layton R. who stays at Cannon Beach RV Resort regularly.

Urban attractions: For travelers interested in combining camping with city experiences, Portland-area RV parks offer convenient access. "If you need or want to stay in town, this place is convenient and picturesque," writes Kristen W. about Roamers Rest RV Park, which serves as a strategic base for urban exploration.

What campers like

Cleanliness standards: Facility upkeep ranks high among camper priorities. "The park is beautiful the bathrooms and showers are clean," reports Deborah R. about Portland Fairview RV Park. Clean facilities consistently appear in positive reviews across multiple parks in the region.

River views: Water proximity enhances camping experiences for many visitors. "The confluence of the Clackamas and Willamette river's, this is a great spot with most amenities, still inside Portland metro, right off 205 but incredibly serene nonetheless," writes Pepper V. about Clackamette RV Park.

Pool access: Several RV parks near Gales Creek offer swimming facilities valued by summer travelers. "Kids especially loved the pools and playground," notes Brian C. about Jantzen Beach RV Park, making it particularly attractive during warmer months.

What you should know

Age restrictions: Some facilities maintain RV age policies that might affect older vehicles. "They also have RV age limit of 2010 but they allowed pictures before turning me down. Yay we got approved!" explains Becky S. about her experience at Roamers Rest RV Park.

Site spacing: Reviews frequently mention campsite proximity. "The spaces are very close to each other. Considering the location and appreciating the fact that they are one of very few RV parks in the Portland area, I can understand why," notes Becky S. about Roamers Rest.

Highway noise: Road sounds affect certain campgrounds more than others. "Oregon Hwy 6 runs alongside the RV Park. It is a major source of road noise during the day and late night," warns Cande D. about Misty River RV Park, noting the constant traffic disturbance.

Tips for camping with families

Playground condition: Research playground facilities before booking if traveling with children. "The playground was rusted over and had pieces that were missing to it, the swings were broken as well," cautions Erika T. about Seaside RV Resort, highlighting maintenance concerns.

Pool availability: Swimming options vary seasonally. "The kids absolutely loved the three pools, playground, and basketball hoops. Plenty to check out and explore for them even if this was not your typical 'campground' experience," shares Corinna B. about Jantzen Beach RV Resort.

Safety considerations: Be mindful of vehicle traffic within campgrounds. "You have to be careful with your kids. People don't drive the speed limit. It's 5mph. They drive like they are in the raceway," warns Tracy at Seaside RV Resort, highlighting safety concerns in busier parks.

Tips from RVers

Cellular connectivity: Signal strength varies significantly between locations. "We used a router to repeat the campgrounds network with our same WiFi name that our devices always connect to, and allows us to all use a VPN without having to install anything. So far our service has been good," reports Tyler F. at Cannon Beach RV Resort.

Water pressure variations: Monitor hookup performance when arriving. "Water pressure is the lowest we've ever experienced. Not sure what's going on but all of the folks we've talked to are experiencing the same," notes Jennifer H. about Jantzen Beach RV Park.

Site selection strategy: For better spacing, request specific areas. "Inner loops you have a neighbor front, back and sides. You can hear too much because they are fairly close. This place stays fairly full so reserve in advance to get an outer spot," advises Misty Z. about Cannon Beach RV Resort.
