Best RV Parks & Resorts near Culver, OR

Several RV parks near Culver, Oregon provide year-round access with full hookup amenities. Lake Simtustus RV Park features water, electric, and sewer hookups with most sites offering lake views, though groups C and B have the best vistas. Crooked River Ranch RV Park provides sites backing up to canyon views with full hookup capabilities and picnic tables at each location. The Cove Palisades State Park offers electric and water hookup sites with level paved pads in the Crooked River Campground section. Mountain View RV Park in Madras provides full hookups with fifty-amp electrical service and accommodates large vehicles. "Some of the sites have a decent slope to them, so I recommend bringing blocks for your stabilizers," noted one Crooked River Ranch visitor.

Between Madras and Redmond, dump stations are available at most parks, with sanitary dump facilities specifically noted at Crooked River Ranch, Lake Simtustus, and Deschute County Expo RV Park. Cell service varies throughout the region, with visitors reporting stronger signals at locations closer to larger towns. Pet-friendly policies are standard at most facilities, though leash requirements differ. During summer months, reservations become essential as parks fill quickly with visitors enjoying water recreation at nearby Lake Billy Chinook and the Deschutes River. Shade availability differs significantly between parks—Crooked River sites tend to have less natural coverage than those at Sisters Garden RV Resort, which features mature trees. Many campgrounds in the area close certain loops during off-season months while maintaining year-round operation with limited facilities.

    Trout Creek

Quiet and Nice - Very Green

This campground in Willamette National Forest is operated by Linn County but is a forest service campground. It has narrow access road off hwy 20 but is paved.

The campground sits along Trout Creek and has semi private sites with picnic tables and fire pits. There are pits toilets and pump water and garbage cans throughout, no recycling.

Heavily shaded with sun peaking through throughout the day. Many sites available on Sunday morning when we were there and some pull throughs.

Reservations can be made but also there is first come first served. There is also a picnic and day use area as well.

    $20/night Open May 21st-Sept

    NO fires at this time

One bar ATT service but no TMobile or Verizon

    Pelton Park Campground

Great dog and family friendly campground

Pelton park was clean and well taken care of during our visit. The park is very family-friendly, with easy physical access to restrooms, the docks and playground equipment. Pet-friendly too, stocked poo bags, poles by restrooms to hold leashes and a small fenced-in area to let the dogs run and play. Docks were clean and safe. Rental boats were well-maintained. The yomes are small, 6 people and 2 dogs is tight and gear had to stay outside with that many people, but we all fit. The lake itself is beautiful, good fishing, and appreciate the 10mph speed limit throughout the majority of the lake.

Bend / Sisters Garden RV Resort

    Fantastic!

Beautiful, well-maintained park. Sites have paved, flat pads that are surrounded by grass and spacious. A park-like setting with a large pond, dog runs, frisbee golf, etc. lots of big rigs, but enough smaller ones so we felt comfortable. Ask for site away from main road.

    Deschute County Expo RV Park

    Good stopover spot

Very clean park. They were about half full when we were there and the noise level was very low. Not much of a long term spot, lots of movement in and out.

Showers and bathrooms were very clean and the sites we're very big. Lots of pull through spots. Good Verizon signal.

    Humbug Campground

    Love it here

Humbug is one of our favorite campgrounds. We love the easy access to the beach and the beautiful hikes.  Showers are hot and free, rangers are always friendly.

Cell service is pretty iffy here, but we manage to make it work with the cell booster.

There's a dump station and water fill, trash and recycling, water spigots throughout campground, and firewood for sale.

Tent sites in Oregon don't currently have the 25% non-resident surcharge (though I've heard that's changing soon) and there are plenty of non-hookup/tent sites that will fit RVs. There are also FHU and pull through sites.

    Mecca Flat Campground

    Mecca Flats Campground

While staying here in August 2024: -Dog friendly -No hookups -2 bars on Verizon -No shade -Madras, OR only 10 minutes away. -1 acres fenced in dog park in Madras OR (15 min. drive) -Used my credit card at the automated self pay station (super convenient). -fairly clean bathroom (toilet only). -From travel trailers to Teslas, they all have made down the road and plenty of room.

Situated on the banks of the Deschutes Wild and Scenic River, Mecca Flat Campground is located just a mile and a half from Oregon State HIghway 26 near Warm Springs. The site features 13 individual campsites and one group use area. The southern terminus of the 7-mile long Trout Creek Trail can be accessed directly from the campground.

    Know Before You Go:

All campsites, including the group use area are open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis; no potable water is available. The 1.6 mile Mecca Flat Road is narrow with few pullouts; use caution particularly when pulling a trailer. Access the nearby non-motorized Trout Creek Trail which fronts the Deschutes Wild and Scenic River for 7 miles where it terminates at Trout Creek Campground. Cell phone service is not available in the campground. Goathead, also known as puncturevine, is present in the area; protect your pets and bicycle tires Point of Interest:

The Deschutes Railroad ran on portions of the nearby Trout Creek trail and Mecca Flat Road for several decades, competing with the Oregon Trunk Railroad before abandonment in the early 20th century. Look for the historic, now-abandoned tunnel near Highway 26 - but stay clear of this degrading and unstable structure.

Bend / Sisters Garden RV Resort

    Bend/Sisters area

This is a beautiful RV park. Very well kept, friendly people, close to Bend area. Our site was #7. Pull through, FHU, had a small brick patio area with picnic table and fireplace. Camp store was well stocked. Laundry on site which was very reasonable. Site was level. As an RV park the sites are close together. We did a waterfall hike, went to Bend a couple times, went for dinner and drinks at the Barn in Sisters which is a food truck park. Sisters was a great small town.

    Blue Bay

    Small, semi-private, onerous pull through

Blue Bay Campground (Suttle Lake) Site 15 description from Recreation.gov, which I found to be accurate: “Driveway Entry: Pull-Through Driveway Length: 110 Driveway Surface: Gravel Is Equipment Mandatory: Yes Max Num of Vehicles: 2 Max Vehicle Length: 40

This site will accommodate one 40-foot and one 30-foot vehicle (total vehicle length). In addition to the above space, there is parking for approximately two extra vehicles (total vehicle length less than eighteen feet each).”

What is not mentioned, that I could find, is the driveway is shaped like a horseshoe and to pull through your RV or trailer might be tough. There are several large boulders and wood bollards on the right side of the driveway that may make it difficult to swing the front end of your vehicle wide enough to clear the trees on left. We ended up backing our trailer (32’) into the site vs. trying to pull through it.

Site 15 is spacious and mostly private that has 2 picnic tables. Plenty of space for several tents in the site and to set-up if your outdoor games. There is some road noise, but it was not overwhelming. The boat dock is a short walk from this site - short enough to walk with your SUP board, kayak or canoe. The dumpster is close to this site, but it was not overflowing and the garbage service came on Friday of the holiday weekend.

Blue Bay campground appears to be the smallest of the three campgrounds on Suttle Lake and it appears that several of the sites are semi-private to mostly private. It was mostly quiet during our stay, the loudest noise heard was the occasional barking dog and excited child.

The dock at the campground is small, but perfect for smaller craft launching and close to Suttle Lake Boat House and lodge. The lake is gorgeous and no wake for a generous part of it. Perfect for paddle boarding. The trail around the lake gets a lot of use - walkers, runners and bikers.

Accessing the campground is easy, just off HWY 20. The campground road was in good shape and we found that we had no issues pulling our 32’ trailer through the campground.

We did not utilize the restrooms (pit toilets) during our stay, but they were directly off the campground ground road and we walked by them several times and did not notice an odor.

The campground host was off duty during the holiday weekend (odd?) It looked like, if on duty, firewood might have been available for purchase. However, we did not get close enough to the wood bundles to inquire if there was an alternate pay system (leaving cash in a box vs. paying a person). There was not much Forest Service (FS) personnel presence, we saw a FS vehicle once.

We have AT&T as our phone carrier and received and made calls without issue. Text messages mostly went through, however internet was slow and iffy most of the time.

    Deschute County Expo RV Park

    Nice Fairground Campground

Our GPS and Waze wanted to take us to the Fair& Expo main gate, but we followed the website instructions to the RV park portion of the fairgrounds adjacent to the Juniper Golf Course. Check-in was quick and easy. We proceeded to pull through site B-1 with FHUs for our two-night stay. The fairgrounds have nice cement sites to include a spot to park your tow vehicle or toad. Utilities are placed in the back center of the pad. The water pressure was good at about 50 psi. We got 4 bars on Verizon and the Wifi was above average for a park this size, i.e. you can check email and surf but not stream. There are no trees around the sites, so no issues with satellite. The sites in the B loop and this CG in general are close together. It was a pleasant surprise to find that they have a laundry, which is located in the office building where you register. There are also restrooms and showers there as well. As we were in site B-1 near the RV park entrance, we took our dog for walks to the left where there were trails into the adjacent state land(identified by a sign on a tree). The site had a picnic table and nice little standup grill. We enjoyed our stay at this CG.

Guide to Culver

RV camping near Culver, Oregon offers excellent access to the Deschutes River and Cascade Mountain views with elevations ranging from 2,300 to 3,000 feet. Most RV sites in the region remain open year-round with seasonal temperature variations including hot, dry summers reaching 90°F and winter nights frequently dropping below freezing. Unlike the more crowded Bend area campgrounds, Culver vicinity camping provides quieter alternatives with varied terrain options.

What to do

Hiking nearby trails: Smith Rock State Park is just a short drive from Crooked River Ranch RV Park, making it a popular base for hikers. "The Terrebonne area provides a ton of hiking activities. Smith Rock State Park is just down the road," notes Kelsey G. The park also offers its own trails, including "Matt's Trail that goes around the park. CRR does not provide a map of Matt's trail that includes an observatory over the canyon."

Fishing opportunities: The Metolius River provides excellent trout fishing just minutes from Cold Springs Resort. "This river is the perfect habitat for Trout, so bring your fishing gear," according to Ashley F. Some campgrounds offer fishing right on-site, with one visitor noting, "Good fishing off dock and near the campground" at Lake Simtustus.

Family recreation: Several campgrounds feature recreational facilities beyond water activities. "Pool for the kids. Golf for Mom and Dad. Restaurants on site as well," writes John B. about Crooked River Ranch. For mini-golf enthusiasts, Bend/Sisters Garden RV Resort offers an on-site course along with additional amenities like "a store, pool, and hot tub."

What campers like

Canyon views: The dramatic landscape around Crooked River Ranch RV Park draws consistent praise from visitors. "RV's back up against the canyon rim and have a beautiful backdrop," notes Kelsey G., while another camper mentions how "a lot of campers pull-in the opposite direction so their back window faces the picturesque mountains."

Fishing access: Lake Simtustus RV Park receives high marks for its water accessibility. "About 5 miles off main highway, on the edge of Lake Simtustus, they have boat slips, pontoon boats and kayaks to rent," reports Paul Y. The campground layout includes sections organized by terrain, with one visitor explaining, "D is best for shade and A is down on the water."

Cleanliness and facilities: Campground maintenance receives frequent mentions in reviews. At Deschute County Expo RV Park, visitors appreciate the "clean bathrooms and showers" and note that "all of the pads are paved, and each spot has a picnic table." Another camper highlights how the park is "immaculately clean" with "no evidence of long-term campers."

What you should know

Site selection tips: At Crooked River Ranch, visitors recommend bringing equipment for uneven terrain. "Some of the sites have a decent slope to them, so I recommend bringing blocks for your stabilizers," notes Darren N. Site placement varies significantly, with MickandKarla W. observing, "Loop sites throughout this park vary greatly on space between sites, so your neighbors could be nearby to very close."

Shower facilities: Coin-operated showers are common in the region and require preparation. At Crooked River Ranch, Sarah R. cautions, "My only issue was the bathrooms were clean and great but you needed quarters to take a shower. I don't carry quarters and usually only use them for laundry but add the shower fee to that it was easily 6-8$ in quarters and no one would give me that."

Off-season considerations: While many parks advertise year-round operation, services may be limited in cooler months. At Bend/Sisters Garden area, campgrounds typically reduce staffing between November and March. Some facilities may operate with restricted hours or close certain amenities completely during the winter season.

Tips for camping with families

Access to swimming pools: Several RV parks feature pools that provide welcome relief during hot summer days. "The pool is 10/10. The hot tub 8/10 for needing better ventilation and better hand rail design," shares Marty T. about Mountain View RV Park. Families report that pool facilities are typically open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Playground availability: Bend/Sisters Garden RV Resort offers family-friendly amenities including a playground. "Very well kept and popular RV park in-between bend and sisters. Asphalt pads for RVs, a little close together to my liking, but excellent bathrooms, showers, playground, putt putt golf course," notes Brian C.

Kid-friendly fishing spots: Crook County RV Park offers special fishing opportunities specifically designed for young anglers. "Across the street is a family park with a children's fishing pond that is stocked with rainbow trout for anyone 17 and under," reports Tessa W., making this a good option for introducing children to fishing.

Tips from RVers

Electric service details: Most RV parks near Culver offer 50-amp service, with visitors noting reliable connections. "Full hook up. 16 miles from Bend so good place to explore from," shares Charles A. about Deschute County Expo RV Park. The consistent power supply is particularly important during summer months when air conditioning becomes necessary.

Site leveling challenges: Several campgrounds require additional equipment for stabilization. "If you are bringing an RV or travel trailer, I recommend bringing blocks for your stabilizers as some of the sites have a decent slope to them," advises a visitor to Crooked River Ranch. Uneven terrain is common throughout the area due to the volcanic landscape.

Golf cart assistance: For campgrounds with significant elevation changes, some offer transportation help. At Lake Simtustus, Paul Y. appreciates that they "provide golf carts at no extra charge to go up and down the hill" noting the "200 foot drop from office to lakeside," which makes accessing the water much easier for those with mobility challenges.
