    The Woods Campground

    Great overnight stop or longner

Nice quick in and out overnight stop or longer if needed. Big rig friendly large pull though sites and smaller back in sites with 30 and 50 amp and water no sewer but dump station is close by. Self service campground $8.00 a night pay at pay station at the entrance of the park. Located in a city park of Coffeyville, play ground with in walking distance from sites. Walmart is less the a 5min drive from this campground and from the town of Coffeyville. Quite area, there seems to be a few campers living here full time or here for work, but all seems to be keeping their sites clean and organized. On the payment envelope says 14 day maximum stay.

Grand Lake O' the Cherokees RV Resort by Rjourney

    Well Run Campground

Cedar Oaks is a very easy campground (CG) to find and get into. We did not have a designated site number but had requested back-in site 90 on the lake or a pull through from 64 to 73. We got our first choice and after an easy check-in we were escorted to site 90 and were assisted backing in. This site had a large lawn area due to site 91 being decommissioned because of flooding a while back. We enjoyed a very nice lake view as this site is probably the best site in the park. The site next to us, 89, was very near on our utilities side, but 89 still had some lake view. There is no cable TV here but we got a good variety of OTA channels. We got 3 bars on Verizon and the park WiFi was average for a park this size. There are permanent and seasonal residents here plus dedicated transit/short term areas. Most sites in this CG have a shot to the southern sky if you want to use satellite. There are two small fenced dog areas but plenty of room to walk your dogs. There is also a bathhouse and boat launch plus slips. This was our second stay here and we would stay here again in the future.

    Spencer Creek

    Nice Getaway!

This campground is only 20 minutes from our home and we go here as a short getaway. We’ve been 3 times over the summer because it’s so close. There are sites on top of ridge overlooking Oolagah Lake. Site 10 is an accessible site. When you back in you have a nice view of lake from front window and living area of RV.

Sites 12, 14 & 15 are on ridge with views of lake and 17 is at bottom of hill with view of lake.

Park has a play area, trail, soccer field, boat ramp and short walk to beach area. We stayed in site 3 which is a spacious site and short walk to beach.

Mid October Oolagah Lake is in the path of Pelicans migrating south. When you camp mid to end of October the lake with be covered with a white layer of pelicans.

If you have accessible All Access Pass from National Park service you get a discount. We usually get 1/2 off. There are water spickets but not at individual sites. There is a dump station. 30 amps.

Bernice Area — Grand Lake State Park

    Grand Lake

Nice quiet campground on Grand Lake. Spots are spacious on back-in concrete pads. Each spot has 50/30/20 power, bbq grill, fire ring, picnic table and light on the power pole. There are flush toilets and hot showers in the bathrooms. Reservations are easily made online. We had a spot near the water with a nice view of the lake. I had good 5G cell reception with Verizon.

    Blue Creek

    Enjoy many activities!

General: Blue Creek is one of four campgrounds operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers on Oologah Lake (the others are Spencer Creek, Red Bud, and Hawthorn Bluff). It is divided into three sections: one with electric hookups (Sites 14-35) and two without (Sites 1-11 and 36-61, with Sites 54-61 that can be used as a group area). On a weekday in early May, the section with electric was full but we had the section with sites 36-61 entirely to ourselves. Sites 1-11 are good for boaters as they are near the boat ramp, however, the sites are not as well delineated (the picnic tables have the site numbers on them and cars park wherever). Since COVID, reservations are required but as with all other CoE campgrounds, the fees are extremely reasonable ($20 for electric,$16 for non-electric and half-price for seniors).

Site Quality/Facilities: It is often impossible to determine the best site when reserving but after arriving, we discovered that Site 55 was not going to work for us. It had a very short sloping half-circle drive and after 10 minutes of maneuvering, it was obvious there was no way we were going to be level. It was also rocky so it would be challenging for tents. This site is the furthest away but near the spot where many fish so it will not be as quiet as you might expect. Fortunately, we were able to switch sites (no one else was there!) and Site 42 was much better and like many others, had a large semi-circular drive. Many sites had a covered concrete pad with a large concrete picnic table, utility table, and lantern hook. There was a dump station, but it was coned off when we were there; we did not need it so I did not ask when/if it would be available.

Bathhouse: The sections without electricity have vault toilets, which were clean, but the flush toilets/showers are within a reasonable walking distance. These were very clean. Soap but bring your towel.

Activities/Amenities: Aside from fishing and boating, there are many activities you can enjoy here including volleyball, horseshoes, bean bag toss, and basketball. When the gate attendant is there, you can check out supplies for these activities. There is also a hiking trail. We saw a few people kayaking. Horses are allowed in the group camping section (Sites 54-61).

Perhaps it is because we had an entire section to ourselves, but we had a relaxing and peaceful stay here and would definitely return.

    Joplin KOA

    Nice enough

Clean and well maintained KOA. Friendly personnel. Shaded, pull thru sites as well as back-ins, cabins, and tent sites. Sites are very level with crushed stone pads. Good water pressure. Lots of grass. Patio sites are available. Internet is poor, as typical of most RV parks. Cable tv with about 30 channels. Good stopover park.

Hiking nearby trails: Blowing Springs RV Park offers direct access to extensive trail systems. A camper reports, "Such easy access to the Back 40 and Slaughter Pen mountain bike trails! We get on our bikes and ride all day and then come back and enjoy the peaceful campground!" Multiple trails connect to an arboretum within the park.

Casino entertainment: Several rv parks near Miami, Oklahoma are casino-adjacent. The Downstream RV Park provides a convenient option with one camper noting, "It is a parking lot behind a casino but backs up to a beautiful pasture with pond. Stay is free with a membership card from casino."

What campers like

Concrete pads and level sites: Miami, Oklahoma RV parks often feature well-maintained concrete pads. At Monkey Island RV Resort, campers appreciate the sturdy surfaces, with one visitor mentioning, "This is a great RV resort close to the water but with very little shade."

Easy highway access: Many campgrounds provide convenient access from main routes. One reviewer at Camp Mi Casa on the Route RV Park appreciated being "Near enough to town to enjoy the museum and pop in for lunch, far enough away to feel detached."

Quiet surroundings: Despite highway proximity, many parks maintain peaceful environments. A visitor to Big Red Barn RV Park remarked, "Convenient to Interstate 49, but virtually no traffic noise and none while inside the van. The CG was VERY quiet - very peaceful."

What you should know

Free camping options: Some casino-adjacent parks offer complimentary stays. According to a camper at Downstream RV Park, "Stay is free with a membership card from casino. Got card then went to gift shop to get space."

Lake safety awareness: Steep shorelines require caution with children. A Waters Edge camper cautioned, "The drop off from the camp sites to the lake was so steep that we had to constantly remind our children to stay back from the edge."

Dog-friendly facilities: Many parks accommodate pets with designated areas. One visitor at Big Red Barn RV Park appreciated that "They have an off-leash dog park area which our dogs loved and used it 3-4 times the nite we were there."

Tips from RVers

Electric hookup considerations: Some sites may require extensions. A Waters Edge camper advised, "One thing you will want to note is that you may need an electrical extension if you're bringing a towable as the electric is on the opposite side from the sewer and water."

Concrete pad benefits: Level concrete sites make setup easier. At Zen Monkey RV Retreat, 18 sites offer hookups on sturdy surfaces, while Blowing Springs RV Park campers note that "Your site is all cement with full hook ups and a picnic table."

WiFi reliability: Internet access varies between parks. A Waters Edge camper mentioned "the wireless can be spotty depending on your site location in the park" while another at Big Red Barn appreciated the "free wi-go and cable TV."
