Best RV Parks & Resorts near Richfield, OH

Several RV parks near Richfield accommodate large motorhomes with full hookup options. Roundup Lake RV Resort remains open from May through October, providing water, electric, and sewer connections at most sites. Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA features premium pull-through sites with 50-amp service and concrete pads. Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds offers basic RV parking with limited amenities but can handle big rigs. West Branch State Park Campground contains nearly 200 sites including 29 full hookup spaces suitable for larger RVs, with paved roads and level cement pads throughout the campground. "Most sites seemed pretty level from side to side, but where we were, several had a slope from front to back. Away from the waterfront, most sites looked pretty level."

Local RV parks generally maintain good cell coverage and internet access, though signal strength varies by location. Many campgrounds require advance reservations, particularly for full hookup sites during peak summer months. Dump stations typically feature two lanes for efficient departure, with fresh water fill stations positioned nearby. Most parks permit pets but enforce leash requirements. Proximity to Cuyahoga Valley National Park makes several campgrounds popular bases for exploration, with West Branch State Park and Roundup Lake situated within 30 minutes of park entrances. One camper noted that Punderson State Park provides only 15-20 amp electrical service at non-full-hookup sites, cautioning that "you will need a lot of blocks to get close to level" due to uneven terrain.

    Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday

    Happy Camping

Relax, breath, and camp. Perfect spot.

This Campground is quiet, full of fun, for families or older people. Beautiful area.
Many pull through lots, with patios. 50. 30. Full hookup, (sewer and Electric) back in, pull through, tent sites, cabins, teepees. Swimming pool, private bathrooms and showers. Fishing lake, swimming lake, trails. Children play areas. Basketball, bad mitten/volleyball, Dog wash, dog parks (2), private fenced dog sites. (2)- pull through site. Golf cart rentals, and seasonal sites that are being updated, but all are decorated nicely, and kept up.
KOA is revamping some of this campground. Work in progress, but awesome stay.

    Amish Country Campsites

    Amish campsite

Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us and 15 ft from the campers left to right. When we left we had to knock on camper doors to ask folks to move their cars so we could pull out of out parking spot. The other campers were very nice lots of local folks they were fun to talk to. The camp site did have clean showers. Hot water. And. Clean restroom facilities. The dump station isn’t the best it is on a hill so dumping ones waste tanks completely could be a challenge The owners were polite but short The sites aren’t the best the electric is only 30 amp. And very dated they did have water hookups at each site. I didn’t take any pictures as there wasn’t anything to see at the campground other than campers packed in like sardines It is close to town and the shops. Everything closed at 5:00 including gas stations As they say any port in a storm. So as a last resort I guess it’s is okay. Just don’t plan to leave after 5:00 pm unless you have a full tank of gas. No ada camp sites. They are pet friendly

    Timber Ridge Campgrounds

    Great Experience

We stayed at Timber Ridge for a month and found this to be a very nice campground. Stores are very level, full hookups, fishing pond, amazing indoor swimming pool. Staff was extremely nice. Many if the campers are long term but have several overnight doors as well.

We stayed in a 29ft Travel Trailer, but sites could handle the largest of rigs.

    Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Love the Lake!

This state park has a lot to offer with the highlight being a large 2,650-lake that appeals to fishermen, boaters, and swimmers. The park is over 5,000 acres and not only has camping but hiking, volleyball, fishing, playgrounds, picnicking, hunting, horseback riding, and more.

The campground is divided into three loops with nearly 200 sites. Campsites include those with full hook-up (50 amp), electric only (50 amp), and some with no electric. This campground is suitable for everything from large RVs to tents. Sites and roads are paved and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. In loops where there is no water directly at the site, water spigots are scattered throughout. The restroom/bathhouses in our loop were really nice, modern, clean, and had laundry facilities which is a real plus at a state park campground. Campsites can be reserved online up to six months in advance. Since we were here in April, the campground was practically empty and getting a site was no problem. But, if you want one of the 29 full hook-up sites in the summer, you better book early.

We really enjoyed the hiking trails and being able to leave our campsite and be right on the trails. There are approximately 12 miles of hiking trails and an additional 20 miles that are open to horses and snowmobiles. (Be aware that hunting is permitted in certain areas.)

The park is about 15 miles from Cuyahoga Valley National Park which is a fantastic place to explore with a lot going on for the whole family! If you are interested in football, the National Football Hall of Fame is just down the road in Canton. The town of Hudson has a pretty, historic downtown with a fun old soda fountain.

We would definitely stay at this campground again. It was a perfect place to stay while visiting family in the nearby town of Hudson. Loved having a paved site with full hook-ups especially since there was a lot of rain while we were there. The lake was perfect for kayaking and had we been able to stay longer we would have spent more time on the water.

    Great stop for one night

Great campground on the smaller side, so not too much traffic driving around. Our site was gravel and fairly unlevel. Did our best to level it out but still have water collecting to the left. We lucked out and got a pull through last minute.

Water pressure was low. ATT cell coverage was full. Lots of shade so couldn’t use our Starlink internet but the campground internet was great. Even had video camera meetings on it while working in the morning.

Worth noting we were having some rig problems (slide out stuck in) and after calling four local places not one of them returned our calls. Only stayed the one night because we need to move on to get this fixed.

    Big Arbs Campground

    Lots of Hills

The whole campground is on a hill. Most if not all seasonal sites. The area we stayed was mostly the party crowd and didnt seem to respect quiet time. There is a long list of rules most do not follow. And ownership takes no responsibility. We had to ask several times for a picnic table and fire ring.

    Punderson State Park Campground

    Excellent Park & Campground!

We have just returned from our first stay at Punderson and have no complaints! Sites are smallish, but clean, mostly level and well kept, as is the camping area in general. There are NO pull-through sites I am aware of. Had a picnic with nearby family at one of the pavilions… again, neat and clean and well taken care of. Very quiet at night, which is something we look for. Firewood for sale on site was a bit pricey, but that’s to be expected. Only complaint was lack of strong WIFI, but we have our own uplink. Will definitely return!

    Whispering Hills Campground Recreation

    Outstanding!

We have been camping at Whispering Hills Jellystone for 15 years on holiday weekends. They have so many activities for kids and families. They have crafts, swimming, a lake for fishing, newly chip and sealed roads, jump pads x2, hiking trails, a creek to explore and play in, an outdoor theater, and so so much more. This place will keep you busy if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s also very relaxing if you want it to be. The best of both worlds. Very clean and well maintained sites and bathhouses! Laundry facility available as well. They also have the best fireworks displays on holiday weekends in the area! They have sites that fit everyone’s needs, full hook up sites close to the pool, electric back in sites (where we normally camp) also close to the pool, we like the electric sites better than the full hookup sites but if you like having a concrete pad then full hookup sites are for you! They also have more secluded electric back in sites on the other side of the park away from the hustle and bustle of the campground. They also offer primitive camp sites as well as a variety of cabin choices. This place only grows and gets better with every passing year. I highly recommend giving Whispering Hills Jellystone a shot.

What to do

Fishing at Mogadore Reservoir: Walk directly from your campsite at Countryside Campground to access the water. "A nice short walk takes you to Mogadore reservoir, no luck for us fishing from shore," reports one camper, while another mentions their kids "fished from sun up Saturday to about noon and then sporadically after that throughout the day."

Explore Amish Country: Several campgrounds are within 30 minutes of Ohio's Amish communities. "The campground is right in the middle of Ohio's Amish country with easy access to shopping and food and other great experiences like the large cuckoo clock in Sugar Creek," notes a visitor at Berlin RV Park & Campground.

Water Recreation: Many parks feature swimming lakes or pools for summer refreshment. At Kool Lakes Family RV Park, one camper reports that beyond the fishing lake, there's "a swimming lake, a playground, and even a fishing lake. The ground itself is huge, so kids can have fun and run around."

What campers like

Clean Facilities: Bathhouses and common areas at most campgrounds receive positive feedback for cleanliness. At Evergreen Park RV Resort, a camper notes, "Beautiful, and I mean beautiful park. It rained and rained most of our visit. No mud puddles, not even at water hook up. Dog run is fabulous."

Organized Activities: Many campgrounds host scheduled events for guests. A visitor at Whispering Hills Jellystone RV Park shares, "Whispering Hills Jellystone is a great location for family fun. There is plenty of activities for families and the dog park was a bonus."

Location Near Attractions: Proximity to Cleveland, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and other points of interest is frequently mentioned. One camper at Roundup Lake RV Resort appreciated that "given the proximity to Cleveland and Cuyahoga National Park... we would stay here again, outside of the main summer season."

What you should know

Site Layouts: Many rv sites near Richfield have specific configurations requiring preparation. At Scenic Hills RV Park, a camper notes, "The one and only issue is that water and electricity is located in the rear area of RV, while sewer connections are toward the front. I personally used 50' of water line and 30' of sewer line."

Seasonal Operations: Most campgrounds in the area operate from spring to fall. At Berlin RV Park, the season runs "Apr 1 - Dec 1," while Whispering Hills operates "Apr 15 - Oct 31" and Roundup Lake "May 1 to October 31." Plan accordingly if visiting during shoulder seasons.

Weekend Popularity: Local campgrounds fill quickly during summer weekends and holiday periods. One visitor to Countryside Campground arrived on a busy weekend and advised: "Get there early or you'll have many vehicles and campers to watch for as you back in!"

Tips for camping with families

Activity-Rich Campgrounds: Choose parks with dedicated recreational facilities. A family at Countryside Campground appreciated that "Kids trick or treated and all campers were very friendly. The small putt putt course was still open for kids to play. Playground was a hit for our 8yr and under kids."

Indoor Options for Rainy Days: Some campgrounds offer covered facilities for inclement weather. At Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA, a visitor found "The game room was small but the kids loved it," while another mentioned "amenities for families. Pool. Playground. Dog park. Fishing ponds. Planned activities."

Off-Season Benefits: Consider camping in spring or fall for fewer crowds. One visitor to Roundup Lake noted, "We arrived mid-September 2020... given the size and amenities this campground boasts, I feel it must be a real attractive campground for families during the summer."

Tips from RVers

Cell Service Considerations: Most campgrounds offer adequate connectivity, but with variations. At Evergreen Park RV Resort, a camper advised, "If you need WiFi, bring your own source or go to the club house as the park's is weak."

Overnight Options: For transit stays between destinations, Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds provides basic parking. "Pulled in around midnight on a Wednesday and there were just two other vans parked overnight. Plenty of space if you just need to crash," reports a traveler.

Site Width Preferences: When choosing rv sites near Richfield, consider how close neighbors will be. At Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA, one RVer appreciated that "while there are likely people here it feels nice and spread out," noting "it's always nerve wracking when the fire pits are close to the rigs - loved that these sits were wide."
