    Cross Creek Camping Resort

Big Resort with lots of trees

This is a RV resort close to a lake with a lot of seasonal campers. It is busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly. Plenty to do for the kids. Pool looks nice, was not open yet for the season.

    Hocking River RV Park

Scenic, easy in/out and on the river

Stayed here 4 nights, pull through spots require a little bit of maneuvering with big rig (43’ fifth wheel). There was some mud where camper wheels were situated in the spot (needs material). Fire rings are not near RV but behind across the road on the river. Bath house is just ok - not great, not gross. Close proximity to lots of hiking but Hocking Hills itself has become so crowded… don’t come if you want to get away from people.

    Hocking Hills KOA Holiday

    Great first time KOA experience

We have never stayed at a KOA before and were very happy with this campground. The staff were friendly and professional, the sites were clean, and there were a wide variety of sites to choose from. From primitive tent sites tucked back in the woods to large RV sites with water/sewer/electric/cable hookups. We are first-time owners of a 29 ft Fifth Wheel and got a pull-through site. It offered little in the way of privacy, which was the only negative about the whole experience. Our site included a fire ring and a picnic table, along with all the hook ups. The night we arrived we were too tired to cook so ordered a pizza from the front office and they delivered it to our site. They also deliver wood directly to you. They escort you directly to your site so you don't get lost or go down a one-way road the wrong way. There was a nice little pool, but it wasn't open for the season yet. The shower houses were immaculate. The front office includes a little gift shop, ice cream, and pizza. This campground was also located close (within a few miles) to all the main hiking trails, and about 12 miles from Logan. The little road going up to the campground is VERY bumpy. It's not the campground road, it belongs to the Township, so its completely out of their ability to make improvements. This was only our second time out in our fifth wheel camper so it was a little scary, but we just drove slow and our truck handled it just fine. We will definitely be back to this wonderful campground as we love Hocking Hills.

    River Trail Crossing

    Nice little campground

River Trail Crossing is privately owned, small campground (which we like) but nice and quiet. Sites include tents, small rigs and large pull through sites for big rigs. Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp. State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge. We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it. The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family’s floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river. There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available. We really enjoyed this campground, owners were very friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed. Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well. We will be back!

    Would stay again

This walk in camp ground was located just minutes from Old Man’s Cave. It’s a family friendly and pet friendly camp ground. Our stay was quiet and relaxing.

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

    Excellent Campground!

Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, Ohio is a very nice campground with friendly staff and lots of amenities! There are large back-in and pull-thru sites, each with grass, tree, picnic table, and fire pit. They are 30/50 amp with FHU. The campground has lots of fun things for the family such as swimming pool, playground, basketball, tennis, dog run, laundry, yard games, and so much more! The store is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, clothing, camping supplies, holiday decor, etc. We love the large shade trees at every site. It is a blessing on those hot summer days. All in all, a great campground! Check it out when in the area. 👍🏻😉

    Berkshire Campgrounds

    Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

    Tree Haven Campground

    Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

Guide to Heath

Most RV campgrounds near Heath, Ohio offer seasonal operation from April through October, with a few remaining open year-round. The region features numerous small rivers and lakes suitable for paddling activities, with the Kokosing River and Hocking River providing popular water recreation opportunities. Summer temperatures typically range from 75-85°F during peak camping months.

What to do

Kayaking on local waterways: The Kokosing River provides calm water ideal for beginners and families. At Kokosing River Campground, visitors note the "beautiful lake, nice and quiet" with "lots of waterfowl" visible during paddling excursions. The campground sits on Kokosing Lake Wildlife Area, offering direct water access.

Biking nearby trails: Access the paved B&O Trail directly from River Trail Crossing campground. One visitor mentioned, "There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail," making it convenient for cyclists. The trail stretches several miles through scenic countryside.

Fishing opportunities: Multiple campgrounds offer fishing access, though catch rates vary by location. At River Trail Crossing, campers report that the river section is "only about knee to hip deep," but "not much for fishing at this particular section." However, nearby Mohican State Park provides better fishing conditions within a "10-15 minute" drive.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many RV campgrounds maintain well-kept bathhouses. Berlin RV Park receives consistent praise for cleanliness: "SPOTLESS bathrooms and I mean SPOTLESS" and "Restroom/shower facilities are excellent. There are three showers in each of the mens and womens sides. Each shower has a locking door and a sink."

Riverfront sites: Several campgrounds offer premium spots along water. At Hocking River RV Park, campers appreciate being "right on the river" with one reviewer noting it's "perfect right on the river... decent shower houses... peaceful little campground." Another camper shared that "the river is small and is perfect to have a fire right next to."

Family activities: Whispering Hills Jellystone offers numerous recreation options beyond typical RV camping. A visitor noted, "Great activities including mini golf, pool, jumping pad and frisbee golf." Another family mentioned, "My boys were able to walk across the road to get to the pond that was well stocked with fish."

What you should know

Road noise considerations: Some campgrounds are situated near highways. At Hocking River RV Park, one camper warned it's "right alongside State Route 33, so you hear freeway traffic constantly. Trucks and motorcycles woke me up all night, AND there is a train track right across the river (about 200 yards away)."

Site spacing variability: Proximity to neighbors differs across campgrounds. At Kokosing River Campground, a camper observed it's a "nice, small, shaded, well maintained campground" but "when it's full it's a little crowded." Similarly at Hocking River RV Park, "the sites are very close together" with one camper reporting neighboring tents "literally 4 feet from my picnic table."

Seasonal closures: Most RV parks in the Heath area close during winter months. Berlin RV Park operates "Apr 1 - Dec 1," while River Trail Crossing runs "May 1 to October 16." Plan accordingly if traveling in shoulder seasons.

Tips for camping with families

Water recreation options: The shallow rivers provide safe play areas for children. One family at Hocking River RV Park shared, "This small and cost effective campground is so awesome! The river is small and is perfect to have a fire right next to. We also just went up the highway a little to a rafting rental place called murrys landing to raft down the river."

Kid-friendly campgrounds: Look for parks with dedicated play areas. Berlin RV Park offers "lots to do for kids" including "sand volleyball, basketball court, tetherball, corn hole area and playground." These amenities provide entertainment when not exploring the region.

Fishing with children: Several campgrounds provide fishing opportunities appropriate for younger anglers. At Lakeview RV Park, visitors mention a "small swimming lake" with "canoe rental" options, providing multiple water-based activities for families.

Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Be prepared to adjust at some locations. At Berlin RV Park, one RVer noted, "We had difficulty leveling one night in lot 3 but traded to #4 the next night and did fine. The many pull thru lots looked like a good level base."

Hookup variations: RV campgrounds near Heath offer different utility configurations. Hocking River RV Park provides "electric hookup only" with water fill stations located at the entrance. One RVer explained, "the water is after you pull in so you have to pull in fill up and go back around to your spot."

Convenience stops: For overnight transit stays, consider accessibility to services. At Alton RV Park, campers appreciate the "convenient place to stop for the night if you're on a road trip doing a lot of driving" with a "kroger right down the street" for supplies.
