Best RV Parks & Resorts near Granville, OH

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Several RV parks within a 30-mile radius of Granville provide varied accommodations for motorhome travelers. Lakeview RV Park in Lancaster offers full hookup sites with water, electric, and sewer connections in a lakeside setting. Sites are equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, and the park accommodates big rigs with boat-in access options. Cross Creek Camping Resort features 50-amp electrical service, full hookups, and well-maintained grounds with both pull-through and back-in sites. Alum Creek State Park Campground provides electric-only sites in a more natural setting with greater space between campsites. "Sites were good sized compared to a lot of state parks, with bathrooms that are decently clean for use."

Electric hookup options range from 30-amp to 50-amp service depending on the facility, with several parks operating seasonally from April through October. The dump station situation can be problematic at some locations, particularly on busy Sunday mornings. According to one visitor at Alum Creek, "Only ONE little dump station. This is a big campground, so if you're leaving Sunday, you better get up at the crack of dawn to get to the station, otherwise be prepared to wait in a long line of RVs." Most campgrounds near Granville accommodate pets, with some offering designated dog areas. Cell service is generally reliable throughout the region's RV parks, though Wi-Fi quality varies considerably. For travelers needing overnight parking without hookups, reviews indicate Cabela's in Columbus permits RV parking in designated areas of their lot.

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

Big Resort with lots of trees

This is a RV resort close to a lake with a lot of seasonal campers. It is busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly. Plenty to do for the kids. Pool looks nice, was not open yet for the season.

    Hocking River RV Park

Scenic, easy in/out and on the river

Stayed here 4 nights, pull through spots require a little bit of maneuvering with big rig (43’ fifth wheel). There was some mud where camper wheels were situated in the spot (needs material). Fire rings are not near RV but behind across the road on the river. Bath house is just ok - not great, not gross. Close proximity to lots of hiking but Hocking Hills itself has become so crowded… don’t come if you want to get away from people.

    Hocking Hills KOA Holiday

    Great first time KOA experience

We have never stayed at a KOA before and were very happy with this campground. The staff were friendly and professional, the sites were clean, and there were a wide variety of sites to choose from. From primitive tent sites tucked back in the woods to large RV sites with water/sewer/electric/cable hookups. We are first-time owners of a 29 ft Fifth Wheel and got a pull-through site. It offered little in the way of privacy, which was the only negative about the whole experience. Our site included a fire ring and a picnic table, along with all the hook ups. The night we arrived we were too tired to cook so ordered a pizza from the front office and they delivered it to our site. They also deliver wood directly to you. They escort you directly to your site so you don't get lost or go down a one-way road the wrong way. There was a nice little pool, but it wasn't open for the season yet. The shower houses were immaculate. The front office includes a little gift shop, ice cream, and pizza. This campground was also located close (within a few miles) to all the main hiking trails, and about 12 miles from Logan. The little road going up to the campground is VERY bumpy. It's not the campground road, it belongs to the Township, so its completely out of their ability to make improvements. This was only our second time out in our fifth wheel camper so it was a little scary, but we just drove slow and our truck handled it just fine. We will definitely be back to this wonderful campground as we love Hocking Hills.

    River Trail Crossing

    Nice little campground

River Trail Crossing is privately owned, small campground (which we like) but nice and quiet. Sites include tents, small rigs and large pull through sites for big rigs. Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp. State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge. We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it. The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family’s floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river. There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available. We really enjoyed this campground, owners were very friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed. Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well. We will be back!

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

    Excellent Campground!

Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, Ohio is a very nice campground with friendly staff and lots of amenities! There are large back-in and pull-thru sites, each with grass, tree, picnic table, and fire pit. They are 30/50 amp with FHU. The campground has lots of fun things for the family such as swimming pool, playground, basketball, tennis, dog run, laundry, yard games, and so much more! The store is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, clothing, camping supplies, holiday decor, etc. We love the large shade trees at every site. It is a blessing on those hot summer days. All in all, a great campground! Check it out when in the area. 👍🏻😉

    Berkshire Campgrounds

    Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

    Tree Haven Campground

    Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

Guide to Granville

RV camping near Granville, Ohio offers multiple options within a 30-mile radius for overnight stays or extended visits. The region features moderately humid summers with temperatures averaging 75-85°F from June through August, while spring and fall bring cooler temperatures between 50-70°F. The Kokosing River and surrounding waterways provide recreational opportunities with varying water levels based on seasonal rainfall.

What to do

Fishing access: At Kokosing River Campground, campers enjoy lakeside fishing with abundant waterfowl. "Beautiful lake, nice a quiet. Lots of waterfowl," notes reviewer Shelly S. The small lake is well-stocked and perfect for beginners.

Kayaking options: Multiple waterways offer paddling opportunities. "Kayaking on the lake is great," says Mark B. about Kokosing River Campground. The area includes Class I rapids suitable for novice paddlers on certain river sections during spring runoff.

Biking trails: The B&O Trail runs behind River Trail Crossing campground with paved surfaces suitable for family riding. "Bike trail access right from the campground," shares Bob M. The trail connects to over 20 miles of maintained pathways.

Mini golf and recreation: Whispering Hills Jellystone RV Park features "mini golf, pool, jumping pad and frisbee golf," according to Kayla S. The park maintains seasonal hours for these amenities, typically 9am-7pm during summer.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently praise bathroom cleanliness at select campgrounds. "SPOTLESS bathrooms and I mean SPOTLESS" writes Tara T. about Berlin RV Park & Campground. Another reviewer noted, "Restroom/shower facilities are excellent" with private shower stalls that include individual sinks.

Riverside sites: Several parks offer direct water access. "This small and cost effective campground is so awesome! The river is small and is perfect to have a fire right next to," shares Aysia C. about Hocking River RV Park. Water depth varies seasonally, typically knee to hip deep in summer months.

Family-friendly atmosphere: Campgrounds cater to families with various amenities. "Peaceful and great for kids," writes Mark B. about Kokosing River Campground. Most parks maintain quiet hours from 10pm-7am with enforced noise restrictions.

What you should know

Site spacing considerations: Space between sites varies significantly between parks. "Sites are close but we had plenty of room for what we needed," notes Sharon J. about Alton RV Park. Campgrounds closer to Columbus tend to have tighter spacing compared to those in more rural areas.

Road noise factors: Location relative to highways affects ambient noise levels. "You hear freeway traffic constantly. Trucks and motorcycles woke me up all night," reports Megan M. about one riverside campground. Sites further from main roads typically offer more peaceful settings.

Rule enforcement: Some parks strictly enforce regulations. "The owners have rules and they DO enforce 'em," explains Sharon J. about Alton RV Park. Rules commonly include quiet hours, pet restrictions, parking requirements, and sometimes limitations on outdoor equipment use.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly water activities: Multiple parks offer water recreation suitable for children. "My boys were able to walk across the road to get to the pond that was well stocked with fish. It was catch and release but they were very excited to pull in some big ones," shares Emily about Whispering Hills.

Playground availability: Not all campgrounds offer play equipment. "No playground which made camping with kids very uneventful for them," notes Bryatt S. about one campground. Call ahead to confirm current playground status and amenities.

Dog-friendly options: Pet policies vary by location. "Whispering Hills Jellystone is a great location for family fun... and the dog park was a bonus," mentions ML D. Most campgrounds that allow pets require leashes no longer than 6 feet and proof of vaccinations.

Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Some sites present difficulties for level parking. "We had difficulty leveling one night in lot 3 but traded to #4 the next night and did fine," explains Craig T. about Berlin RV Park. Carrying extra leveling blocks is recommended for most area campgrounds.

Big rig access: Limited turn radius at some parks can challenge larger vehicles. "Pull through spots require a little bit of maneuvering with big rig (43' fifth wheel)," warns Tamara W. Most campgrounds can accommodate up to 40-foot rigs, but calling ahead is advised for vehicles over 35 feet.

Water and electric limitations: Hookup quality varies significantly. "There was some mud where camper wheels were situated in the spot (needs material)," notes one RVer about site conditions. Water pressure fluctuations are common during peak usage hours at several area campgrounds.
