    Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA

    Small basic campground near Toledo

Our site was $59.95 a night.

We were in Site# 504. We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep. The site was easy to level. We were charged $25 additional for my jeep since we were towing the trailer. We also were charged $10 because we arrived at 1:25 PM and check-in is at 2 PM. The park was close to empty so arriving early was not an inconvenience. We drove ourselves to our spot (no escort).

Our site was shaded with lots of trees. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring. They sell wood for $6 a bundle.

There is free WiFi, although not strong. They offer Cable TV and there are many channels.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen or community fire pit.

They pickup your garbage at your site daily before noon.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They do not provide golf cart rentals. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground.

They do have a Swimming pool but it is currently closed due to maintenance (although it just looked closed- no signs of maintenance being done).

There is a Playground. They also offer horseshoes, corn hole, giant jinga.

They have a basic general store. There are not scheduled activities for kids.

There is not a snack bar/restaurant on site.

The streets are gravel so not great for riding bikes. This is an RV park with tent camping and cabins to rent.

They have one shower house. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean.

There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine. There are approximately 4 washers and 4 dryers. It is approximately $2.50 to wash and $2.50 to dry a load.

They have a small fenced in dog park.

There isn’t tons to doin the actual city of Perryville. But Toledo is a 20 minute drive.

    Gotta Getaway RV Park

    Ok

This was an overnight stay on our way to Pennsylvania. It would be a bonus for big rigs as the pull Throughs are flat and easy to get into. We tend to prefer a back in because it usually gives us a bit more protection on the backside. Unfortunately, the site we were assigned took three blocks to level up, the the power was on the wrong side and our picnic table was in the back area of another camper. The bathroom was nice and close and handy. Some great effort has been made to make it attractive with two-tone tile but that is all overshadowed by the amount of spiders and bugs. I am a full-time RV year and shower all over the United States and this was one of the buggiest ever. The majority of this campground is for seasonals. There are some very nice seasonal lots with a small pond in their back Yard. The owner was very friendly and helpful on the phone. Serves a variety of needs.

    Lighthouse Point at Cedar Point

    Immaculate!

Absolutely beautiful RV park! Gorgeous views of Lake Erie and walking distance to the gate of Cedar Point. Beautiful landscaping and very clean. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Good little camp store with reasonable(ish) prices. Too chilly to swim but the pool looks nice. Bathhouses are updated, clean and very nice, but pretty far from about half of the sites. One section has premium sites with upgraded grills and fire pits and crazy good lake views. The regular sites are still well landscaped and each have a grill and an extra long picnic table, but no fire pit. You can bring your own fire pit if your site doesn't have one. No bikes or golf carts allowed on the grounds, but there are Cedar Point buses available day & night as well as rickshaws during the day. Until now I have held Disney World's Fort Wilderness as the penultimate place for camping but they could learn a few things from Cedar Point! We stayed five nights in a pull through sites, #231. I would love to snag a premium site for our next trip but it may be difficult because they allow you to book up five years in advance!

    East Harbor State Park Campground

    East harbor state park

Very clean. Close to everything you need close to ferry clean showers camp monitors were friendly sites are paved. 50/30 amp hookups Our site was just a standard electric site. They do have 150 full hook up sites or more. We made our reservations late we were not really concerned about water or sewer as we planned to use the camp ground facilities anyway. Fresh water is available to fill your holding tanks. Dump stations are easily acceptable as are water filling stations Big Boopers restaurant is a great place for breakfast lunch or dinner. If you do t feel like cooking it’s about a 10 min drive. Campground has very good WiFi. We have Verizon had very good reception inland and I. The islands. Bass island is a fun day trip. Sites were level left to right. Had a slight pitch front to back.

Arrowhead Lake RV Park & Campground

Just a visit to check it out

The pool looked to be the spot for the kids of all ages on this hot 4th of July. A well manicured campground, and while looking a bit narrow, it seemed some pull thrus for big rigs were adequate, with concrete pads and picnic tables. But all the driveways and pull thrus were gravel. Lots of seasonal trailers, and some large ones! No junk, and golf carts are restricted to electric.

Crystal Rock Campground - Sandusky, OH

    Clean & cute

This campground was family friendly, dog friendly, and very clean. About 30 minutes from cedar point. Our only complaint and the reason we’re docking a star is because our site was right next to a giant generator that seems to run 24/7 and sites seemed a little tight. Otherwise we enjoyed this campground very much.

    East Harbor State Park Campground

    Another great Ohio State Park

General: This campground is huge with a mix of FHU (some back-in and some pull-through), electric hookup, no hookup, group sites, cabins, and one yurt. On a Monday night in June, many of the sites were occupied.

Site Quality: All camper pads were paved and appeared level. Some sites were a little close together but there was reasonable separation and there was plenty of foliage. Site H3 was a good one as it had no site next to it on one side.

Bath/Shower house: In our loop, the bathhouse was clean. It took a while for the water to get hot but once it did, it was very hot. The water pressure was very good. The only problem with the shower was that water leaked out onto the floor outside and there always appeared to be a lot of water, which could pose a slipping hazard.

Activities/Amenities: A camper store and nature center, game room, laundry, dump station and potable water, disc golf, hiking trails, multi-use trails, marina (for large boats, not kayaks or SUPS), basketball, volleyball, archery, fish cleaning station. I think I mentioned everything!

We enjoyed our two-night stay here, and if/when we return, we would consider taking a ferry to some of the smaller islands nearby.

Guide to Fostoria

Camping options near Fostoria, Ohio sit within the northwestern plains region where seasonal weather patterns heavily impact camping conditions. The area features flat terrain with scattered woodlands and small lakes, with elevations averaging 750-800 feet above sea level. Winter camping remains available at select locations like Van Buren State Park Campground, though most RV parks in the region close between October and April.

What to do

Fishing at multiple locations: Arrowhead Lake RV Park & Campground offers two ponds, with one specifically designated for fishing. "They have two ponds, one for fishing and one for swimming. The swimming one has a dock kids jump off but it only goes to about 3.5-4 feet deep at the deepest point," notes Bryatt S.

Winter recreation: Van Buren State Park Campground offers cross-country skiing trails during winter months. "I came cross country skiing here in early January and it was absolutely amazing. It is cold but the terrain is simple for first time skiers," reports Kevin T.

Outdoor games: Facilities for various games are available at many campgrounds. "A very well kept campground with lots of fun things to do, like hiking fishing and corn hole. I would camp here again in the future," writes Cody R. about Arrowhead Lake.

What campers like

Seasonal community: Many campgrounds feature a mix of weekend and seasonal campers. "Very welcoming campground with many seasonal RVs. Everyone was friendly throughout the stay. Multiple fishing spots for young and old," notes Brad R. about Arrowhead Lake RV Park & Campground.

Pools and water features: Family-friendly water activities are available at several locations. "They have an adults only pool as well for those looking for a break from all the kids. The sites are not huge and a little close together but very nice and well maintained," says Ashley R. about Cedarlane RV Resort.

Clean facilities: Well-maintained campgrounds receive positive reviews. "This campground has been wonderfully updated! The owners have added in an additional playground, dog park, newly paved roadways, newly redone building, a new pavilion, fire pit, and boat parking!" reports April J. about Sandusky Milan RV Park.

What you should know

Seasonal closures: Most RV parks near Fostoria operate only during warm months. "Campground is open May 1 to October 31," states the information for Gotta Getaway RV Park, which offers 102 sites including pull-throughs for large rigs.

Power adapter requirements: Some campgrounds only offer 50-amp service. "The electric is 50 amp. They have connectors you can use for a $25 deposit and then get your money back when you return the cord. They accept check and cash, no credit cards," explains Renee L. about Fort Firelands RV Park.

Site configurations: RV site layouts vary across campgrounds. "The seasonal ones all have back in and the weekends are pull through which is kinda nice," explains Bryatt S. about Arrowhead Lake RV Park & Campground.

Tips for camping with families

Playground proximity: Choose sites near play areas for convenience. "Tried it for the first time. It was quiet and relaxing. The camp host was nice and friendly. Kids loved having the playground so close to the camper," shares Scott F. about Van Buren State Park Campground.

Family-friendly activities: Sunset Springs RV Resort offers scheduled events for children. "The campground is very well kept, all sites would have been a good spot to call home for a couple nights. It was also a pretty quiet camp, compared to others, but they had their usual weekend events during the day for kids," notes Robert T.

Water play options: Multiple swimming options exist for families. "The pools and bathrooms were clean. My daughter had fun doing the gem mining and playing in the pool and splash pad," shares Ashley R. about Cedarlane RV Resort.

Tips from RVers

Overnight interstate parking: Blue Heron Ohio Turnpike RV Lot provides convenient overnight stops. "Simplicity at its finest. Highway stop is open 24 hrs so you have food and bathrooms all night. Free overnight stay allowed and for extra $20 you can get electricity. There was at least 10 other campers there," shares Randall K.

Site leveling needs: Prepare leveling blocks when needed. "It would be a bonus for big rigs as the pull throughs are flat and easy to get into. We tend to prefer a back in because it usually gives us a bit more protection on the backside. Unfortunately, the site we were assigned took three blocks to level up," notes Sue B. about Gotta Getaway RV Park.

Limited hookups at state parks: Plan for fewer amenities at public campgrounds. "We stayed during the week for one night. Campground was clean and quiet, had electric hookups at most sites. Only criticism is you have to drive to another area of the park for an RV dump," shares Nicole G. about Van Buren State Park Campground.
