Passing through ND in late October and needed a place to stay and this campground worked out well. The folks were accommodating. They don’t take credit cards though. The campground was clean and RV sites graveled and level. The water was turned off due to the recent freezing weather. The associated bar and grill were filled with locals. Bison herd and western novelist Louis L’Amour birthplace near by.
This is a remote site along the North Country Trail. It's well maintained, has personalized benches around a custom fire pit. There's a pit toilet hiding in the woods next to it.
Nice campground, we camped near the brook. Got there later in the evening and left early in the morning to start a hiking trip. Unfortunately we didnt get to enjoy all that the park has to offer, but the staff was friendly and let us park our vehicle there for the weekend while we completed our section hike on the NCT.
This campground has the North Country Trail go right through it, and that is how we ended up camping there. Kids enjoyed the ice cream and refreshments for sale at the gift shop. We were able to get down to the river from our primitive site and cool off. While the bank its self was quite steep and muddy the water felt amazing. Firewood for sale at the gift shop and they drop it off to your site.
We loved this campground! Granted we were there on a Monday but were one of 4 sites occupied so very quiet and private. There are lots of sites available but many of them are still very private. We stayed at site 41a which was up on a hill with nice views of the water and land in the distance and a very large site. Only downside is the many mosquitoes at dusk and dawn so come prepared!
This campground is not far from I-94. The campground is clean, quiet, and beautiful. We enjoyed the views of the lake and the rolling hill, the immaculate star gazing, and peacefulness of this camp ground.
There is a resort nearby with ice cream, firewood, and souvenirs.
Coming from the East, we made the mistake of taking highway 17, which happens to be a dirt road. If you take highway 19 it’s completely paved.
We stopped here on our cross country raid trip for one night. It was the perfect place for an overnight. Beautiful sunset over the hills and lake and perfect grill setup for dinner. LOTS OF BUGS! Bugs went away a little after twilight but it was bad!
Stayed a night here on a Wednesday and there were only 5 other people. Host said it was going to be full over the weekend. It was very quiet for us. Lots of shade trees. It is not technically “lakeside” but about a half mile walk across the highway to get to the lake. It is well kept. Playground was nice and our kiddos loved it. Would stay here again!
We paid 27 dollars to stay in a rotten parking lot, basically. The bathrooms were horrendous and gross. The spots were small and tough to park in. Not worth the price at all.
Stayed at a site in the open field near to the road. (last site available) only down side was that you got to feel the ND winds (10-30mph+) all the time….. Next time will stay on the other side of the river at their "primitive" campsites. those sites are all in the trees and secluded. Also has walk-in tent sites. Plenty of local hiking trails right from the campsite.
