These developed sites accommodate various camping styles from tent camping to RV hookups, with many offering cabin rentals for those seeking more comfort. Letchworth State Park, known as the "Grand Canyon of the East," provides dramatic gorge views and waterfall access, while campgrounds like Stay Bristol Woodlands and Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill offer more wooded settings with proximity to hiking trails. Reservations are strongly recommended, particularly for summer weekends and holiday periods when facilities reach capacity. Spring camping often brings muddy conditions, while fall offers spectacular foliage viewing opportunities with more moderate temperatures. Most campgrounds in the area maintain well-maintained access roads suitable for standard vehicles, though some sites may require leveling for larger RVs. Several visitors mentioned the natural beauty as a primary attraction, with hiking trails and waterfalls ranking high among reported activities. A recent review highlighted that "Letchworth State Park is stunning and is fit for camping whether you're in a tent, RV or choosing to rent a gorgeous cabin." Family-friendly amenities like playgrounds and open fields for recreation are common at larger established campgrounds, while some smaller sites offer more seclusion. Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Inexpensive, Peaceful.

I've stayed here on 3 separate occasions, twice in RV 12 and once in RV 6.

I used the 30 AMP hookup and had zero issues.

Beautiful playground for my son to enjoy and meet other kiddos. Deer, chipmunks and rabbits will say hi in the early and late hours.

    Large dumpsters near entrance.

Dump stations are present, but I haven't used them yet.

Potable water is present at a small spigot.

The washrooms facility is very close and speaking for the men's side, it had 2 stalls, 2 urinals, 2 showers, multiple sinks, and a sturdy baby changing station.

Hiking trails with gorgeous views of the valley within a 5 min walk of my campsite.

    Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground

    Kid friendly but Bee Problem

We had a lot of fun here and there’s a lot of activities for kids I would typically give this campsite 5 stars but our only problem was there were bees everywhere. I get some bees are apart of the camping experience and nature but we’ve never ran into this problem elsewhere. They were all over the campground it was very unpleasant and there was a nest under the playground we did advise management of.

    Hamlin Beach State Park Campground

    Relaxing 2 weeks

The camp store is closed along with no firewood and no laundry.

We stayed for 2 weeks and it was so relaxing. We loved biking through the loops and by the beach at the park. There was live music at the park during the week. The campground has an activity room full of things to do. As a state park, there are a lot of different people with different values, so be ready for the occasional obnoxious family. Our site was secluded and in the pines. We love it here and will definitely do this again!

    Stay Bristol Woodlands

    Well maintained and friendly Staff!

Campground is adorable, you can see a lot of other campers, but the spots are spaced out. Showers were nice, didn’t get to try the pool out as it was a quick stopover, but this seems like a fun place to spend some time

    Beaver Meadow Family Campground

    Ridiculous pool rule

The campgrounds are nice. The staff, friendly. Brought our RV so I didn’t see the bathrooms. We had a site that was “lake view” which was funny because it’s a pond. It was stocked so fishing was fun. They have a nice heated pool. My only real issue is the ridiculous two adult pool rule if you are with kids. We spent all day at the rodeo. We came back ready to swim after being in the sun all day. Of course my toddler fell asleep so I stayed with him at the campsite and my husband took our other two kids to the pool. They were able to swim for 15 mins before the other people who were at the pool took off. So it was just my husband and kids left. The lady working in the office came out and told them they had to get out because“there has to be two adults and one has to stay on deck”. Like, what?!? Seriously? That’s the stupidest rule I’ve ever heard. So he gets my very disappointed kids out of the pool and they are just hanging out pool side hoping for basically a stranger to come swim so they can swim. They waited nearly an hour before they got defeated and came back to the camper. Stupid rule. I’ve never seen any campground ever have that rule. If you are that worried about a solo parent taking care of their kids, hire a life guard. Or make that pool rule known prior to booking. My kids had life jackets on and my husband is CPR certified. Literally will never come here again because of this rule. Lame lame LAME.

    Six Flags Darien Lake Campground

    Great family recreation spot

Obviously being connected to Six flags is a fun family stop, but every part of the camping experience is treated with attention to detail and great services. We needed help with our water heater in our own RV and the camp team sent over a mechanic to sort it out within minutes. Free of charge. Good people nice natural and spacious sites and fun for the family
