Best RV Parks & Resorts near Lima, NY

Several RV parks surround Lima, New York, offering diverse options for motorhome travelers. Southwoods RV Resort in Byron, open May through October, provides full hookup sites with 50-amp service on well-maintained gravel pads that accommodate large rigs. Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort in Macedon operates from April to October with big-rig friendly sites featuring water, electric, and sewer connections. Stay Bristol Woodlands in Canandaigua offers 78 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service, while Letchworth State Park Campground provides electric-only sites with nearby water spigots. "We chose a back-in 50-amp full hook-up site at $42/night. All the utilities were placed appropriately so we didn't need any extensions. The water pressure and electric were good," noted one Southwoods visitor.

Most RV campgrounds in the region maintain clean dump stations, though availability varies seasonally with many parks closing between mid-October and early May. Cell service strength fluctuates throughout the area, with visitors reporting strong Verizon coverage at Southwoods but limited AT&T reception at some parks. Reservation requirements increase during summer weekends and fall foliage season. Pet-friendly policies exist at nearly all RV parks, though specific restrictions may apply. Daily trash pickup service is available at select resorts like Finger Lakes RV Resort, where staff collect refuse each morning. Navigation to certain parks requires careful planning, as some visitors report tight turns when backing larger rigs into tree-lined sites, particularly at state park campgrounds where maneuvering space can be limited.

    Canandaigua-Rochester KOA

    Camping near Canandaigua, New York

Campers exploring the Canandaigua area discover a delightful mix of lakeside retreats, wooded state parks, and family-friendly RV resorts. Just minutes from downtown, Canandaigua City Park Campground offers easy access to local shops and the lakefront beach, making it a convenient base for those who want town amenities within walking distance. A short drive farther out leads to Keuka Lake State Park Campground and the privately owned Canandaigua-Rochester KOA, both of which feature spacious sites, clean facilities, and excellent opportunities for swimming, kayaking, and fishing on the Finger Lakes. For those seeking a quieter experience, numerous backcountry and dispersed sites are tucked into the surrounding National Forest, where campers can truly unplug—though it’s essential to bring all necessary supplies and practice Leave No Trace principles. Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill and the Stay Bristol Woodlands campground blend rustic charm with modern comforts: well-maintained restrooms, picnic shelters, and on-site hiking trails that wind through hardwood forests and offer scenic overlooks, especially stunning during fall foliage season. Travel logistics are a breeze when visitors prearrange an airport shuttle from Rochester or Syracuse airports, ensuring a smooth transition from plane to campsite. And for adventurers mapping out multiple stops across the Finger Lakes or beyond, reliable multi-city transfers provide comfortable, door-to-door rides—no rental car necessary. With its blend of waterfront sites, wooded hideaways, and nearby attractions—wineries, waterfalls, and historic villages—the Canandaigua region truly has something for every type of camper. Whether pitching a tent under the stars or rolling in with an RV, visitors will find endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    Finger Lakes RV Resort

Beautiful new spacious RV resort in excellent location.

We arrived on Saturday, 10.8.22 and are staying for a week. This is a delightful location. Rachel and Doug are cheerful, attentive, and very personable owners who are on-site at almost all times. This park just opened this year, so we checked in at an entrance building that they're using until their primary building is complete. We were greeted with delicious cookies, our site(#9) backs up to a wooded area(with a hiking path buried in there) with a lot of space. We booked early, which was a good thing because they were 100% full for Indigenous People's Day. We chose this site because there was a lot of room around it and we're used to really tightly packed RV parks. But what we found is that all of the sites are very nicely spread out with generous spacing, so that's not an issue. It's still nice to be on the outskirts. We also chose this section per a review we read to be away from the main road noise, but there really isn't much road noise to worry about, anyway. The WiFi is strong and consistent. We're using 30amps, but they also have 20 and 50amp service to each site. The water pressure is great. The bath house is new and very comfortable. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring and lots of room for big rigs. We watched Doug neaten up sites after other RV's vacated, which shows an attention to detail we don't often find. They also drive by each site every morning to collect trash and recycling. The sunsets are spectacular over the lake(we can't see the lake from here, but it's close). There are numerous award-winning wineries surrounding us and up and down the lake. We're headed out for tastings today. We've been hiking the last few days- Watkins Glen State Park- Gorge Trail(go early or it gets REALLY crowded), Taughannock State Park- Gorge& North Ridge Trail over on Cayuga Lake, and a concert(Rufus Wainwright) at Point of the Bluff Winery over on Keuka Lake. We stopped afterward for dinner in Hammondsport at Timber Stone Grill which was truly wonderful. That's about 35- 45 minutes away. Lots more hiking trails to do in the National Forest and surrounding areas. And there's Watkins Glen, a charming town just minutes away. We highly recommend Finger Lakes RV Resort and we'll be back!

    Webster Park

    Close Family Camping

We go to webster park family campground several times a year for the past few years. Usually sometime in early May and in late October with an occasional day or two mid summer. It is a smaller single loop campground with sites for tents/small trailers, larger trailers, and motor homes. He difference is 30a power and no water or sewer, 50a power and water, and 50a power and water/sewer. There is a dump station. The motor home sites are all along the entrance road. The small and large trailer sites are distributed around the loop. Nice central playground and bathroom/shower house. There is hiking in the park, lots of nice woods, big field for playing games/sports. It’s close to town and home for us. We stay close to the playground these days in our pop up usually at site 5 so our 5 and 9 year old can walk or ride to campground. We like site 1 as well. We stay on the outer ring on that side of loop as it gives access to the woods and trails behind the sites. The campground is very quiet and very kid friendly to allow them to walk around and ride or scooter the loop alone.

They allow reservations online on the monroe county parks website, and are open May 1st to October 31st.

    Letchworth State Park Campground

    Beautiful place

Letchworth is absolutely stunning. The views are beautiful, however the scenic areas are at least a 10 minute drive from the campground. The park is massive.

There is a huge variation in site sizes. We lucked out and got a large site with privacy and an area for the kids to run around, however the site directly across from us was little more than the gravel pad and fire pit. Some of the sites are right on top of each other. Great for group camping, not so much if you want any privacy.

Only two out of the 8 loops (200 and 700 loops) have updated bathrooms (single toilet with handheld showers in half of the bathrooms). The others loops have older facilities with three traditional toilet stalls and two showers.

We loved our site but would’ve preferred to stay in a loop with the updated bath houses as we have younger children and a tent trailer.

All sites have electricity. Some loops are pet friendly, some are pet free. The camp store has a good selection of necessities, albeit expensive for discount brands. The pool is 4-5 miles down the road from the camping area.

    Would absolutely camp here again.

    Southwoods RV Resort

    Enjoyed our stay

We stayed at Southwoods while visiting the Rochester, NY area and exploring attractions in the area. The campground is about 20-25 miles from downtown Rochester and located in a quiet rural setting surrounded by farmland. The campground is quite large and has separate sections for seasonal and transient campers and has a variety of different campsites from back-ins to pull-thrus, 50 to 30-amps, and full hook-up to water and electric only. The campground manager was very nice and helpful when we checked in and was able to extend our stay thru the weekend without us having to move sites. The park is gated and very clean and well-groomed.  Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Southwoods and would stay there again if we were in the area.

We chose a back-in 50-amp full hook-up site (M28) at $42/night. All the utilities were placed appropriately so we didn’t need any extensions. The water pressure and electric were good. Most of the roads in the park are paved with the exception of the pull-thru section in the front of the park (N12-N25) which is gravel. All campsite pads are gravel except for three long pull-thrus that are paved(M24-M26).

We had a fire pit and picnic table and there was nice grass between sites. There was free WiFi which worked well except during peak hours and over the weekend when the park was full. We stayed four nights (which included a weekend) and experienced the park going from half full and quiet to packed with lots of music, all-day fires, and big gatherings. In the back section of the park is a very large group/rally area with sixty sites and a large pavilion for gatherings. All sites in that section are on grass and water/electric.

The campground has lots of amenities like two swimming pools, nice camp store (with lots of food, souvenirs, and gifts), a large playground, miniature golf, sand volleyball and basketball courts, large recreation hall/wedding venue, bicycle track, and game room. There is a short nature trail through a wooded area. They have a busy events calendar throughout the year with lots of get-togethers. During our stay they had a closing weekend pizza and wings party with live music for a small fee. We chose not to go to the party but went to a local historic steak house (The Johnson House) and had delicious prime rib instead (which was very good) for a lot more money!

One downside of this park is that the sites are pretty close and feel a little cramped when the park is full. There is a train track near the park which occasionally is quite noisy. Rochester is about a 45-minute drive but the town of Batavia is about 15 minutes away and has groceries, fuel, restaurants, shopping, etc.

Jellystone Park™ of Western New York

Camping resort in the middle of nowhere

There was a great WiFi connection, so it was difficult to get my boys to go explore! We have a 35 foot travel trailer and had zero difficulty backing into a W/E spot. Gravel pads, decent space between RVs. We did need our extra hose to reach our spigot but I think that was unusual. The dump station was easy to get to and clean when we left.

Playgrounds, beach, mini-golf, dog park, bounce pillow, basketball, volleyball, movie nights, wagon rides twice a day with Jellystone characters, lots of daily activities, water park, kayaks, SUP’s, canoes, LIFEGUARDS!... ALL INCLUDED. My kids did mini-golf 4 times. Snack bar (with good wings and delivers!). Golf cart rentals. What was I most impressed with? Trash pickup. You put it in front of your site, somebody picked it up. Any time of day.

There were three types of cabins I saw, but didn’t go inside. You could fish in the pond. The website says Laser Tag but we didn’t explore that far. The town is teeny tiny so no good grocery store around. The grounds were well kept. Niagara Falls were a little more than an hour away. Great day trip!

We we will come back next year and bring our cousins!

    Webster Park

Close to Rochester Historic Museums and Niagara Falls

Family friendly, great site for campers and RVs. It is within an hour drive of many different areas for recreation and is close to Lake Ontario and the Genesee River.

Guide to Lima

RV sites near Lima, New York offer convenient access to the Finger Lakes region and western New York attractions. The area sits within the Genesee Valley at approximately 800-900 feet elevation, experiencing four distinct seasons with peak camping from late spring through early fall. Most campgrounds in this area provide water access or are situated near recreational opportunities within a 30-minute drive of Lima.

What to do

Winery visits: Two wineries are accessible by walking paths from Finger Lakes RV Resort in Hector. "Lovely spacious campground... Convenient to wineries and more," notes Kathleen R. The resort is located along Seneca Lake's eastern shore, making it ideal for wine country exploration.

Water recreation: Several campgrounds provide water access for kayaking and fishing. At Lake Bluff RV Park, campers enjoy "a little stream" and proximity to unique geological formations. "Just around the corner from chimney bluff state park which are a must see!" reports Keri.

Miniature golf: Family activities include on-site mini-golf at Southwoods RV Resort, which Sydney W. describes as having "lots of plays areas for kids." The resort also features basketball courts and a bicycle track for additional recreation options.

What campers like

Pool access: Multiple campgrounds maintain swimming pools for summer use. Hope C. mentions that Southwoods has "2 well kept pools" along with "playgrounds, laundry facilities, mini golf, soccer, basketball."

Spacious sites: Stay Bristol Woodlands in Canandaigua offers 78 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp service. Campers appreciate the "level and well equipped" sites, with one reviewer noting the convenience of "waste water disposal attach site!"

Weekend activities: Campgrounds organize regular events, especially during summer weekends. At Red's Twilight on the Erie RV Resort, Rachel T. mentions "Live music on Friday Night (weather permitting) and plenty of activities for the family on the weekends." The resort's "slow driving means kid friendly" policy enhances safety for families.

What you should know

Seasonal operation: Most RV parks in the Lima area operate on a limited seasonal schedule. According to available information, Southwoods runs from May 1 to October 31, while Red's Twilight operates April 15 to October 31. Plan accordingly for shoulder season visits when fewer campgrounds are open.

Wi-Fi availability: Internet access varies significantly between campgrounds. Finger Lakes RV Resort receives praise for its connectivity, with Laura W. reporting "Wifi was strong enough to do work calls" and another camper noting it was "strong and consistent."

Site conditions: Some campgrounds have uneven terrain. Donna C. observed at Red's Twilight on the Erie that "Almost all of the sites are not even close to level. Not a big issue with a fifth wheel but a real hassle with a motorcoach."

Tips for camping with families

Look for dedicated play spaces: Finger Lakes RV Resort offers a quieter experience for families who don't need constant entertainment. "This campground does not offer a pool, jump pad, sports facilities, amenities, or activities. They offer a clean and safe place to stay while visiting the area," explains Matt S.

Consider weekend crowding: Weekends bring more activity and noise at most campgrounds. Nancy W. observed that at Southwoods, they "experienced the park going from half full and quiet to packed with lots of music, all-day fires, and big gatherings."

Check family ownership: Many campgrounds in the area are family-owned with hands-on management. Kerry W. found Southwoods' "Owner was so pleasant as was the woman who helped me book our stay," while Cheryl M. described it as a "Family friendly park, lots of activities, park hosts/owners are hands on and awesome."

Tips from RVers

Site selection matters: At larger resorts, request sites away from main roads and high-traffic areas. For quieter stays at Southwoods, some RVers recommend the back section which includes "a very large group/rally area with sixty sites and a large pavilion for gatherings."

Leveling considerations: Bring leveling blocks even at well-maintained campgrounds. As one visitor to Red's Twilight noted, they "changed sites three times and finally resigned ourselves to not being leveled."

Utility placement: Check hookup locations before choosing a site. At some campgrounds, utilities are positioned optimally, while others require extensions. RVers at Stay Bristol Woodlands appreciate that many sites feature conveniently located waste water disposal attachments.
