Best RV Parks & Resorts near Irving, NY

Evangola State Park Campground in Irving, New York provides electric-only RV sites with both 30 and 50 amp service from late April through early October. The campground features big-rig friendly spaces, though sites are described as "wide open with zero separation between you and your neighbor." Most sites sit in direct sun, while those along the edges offer some tree cover and shade. Lake Erie State Park Campground, located about 30 minutes away in Brocton, offers similar electric hookups and operates mid-May through mid-October with pull-through options for larger motorhomes. For full hookup RV camping, Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday maintains 213 sites with water, electric (30/50 amp), and sewer connections. "Our site was a large pull-through, nice and level and had plenty of comfortable space between it and neighboring sites," noted one RV traveler about the Grand Island location.

Seasonal availability is a key consideration when planning RV trips to this region. Most campgrounds operate from spring through fall, with Evangola State Park and Lake Erie State Park closing by mid-October. Dump stations are available at both state parks, though neither offers sewer hookups at individual sites. Cell service varies by location – Evangola State Park reports good Verizon reception but spotty AT&T coverage even with signal boosters. All RV parks in the area are pet-friendly, though state parks require proof of rabies vaccination for dogs. Niagara Falls attractions are accessible from these campgrounds, with the Grand Island KOA about 15-20 minutes from the falls. RV travelers should note that while state park sites are more economical, they lack the full hookups found at private RV resorts in the region.

    Evangola State Park Campground

Some Sites Have a View of Lake Erie

    Unfortunately, my site did not.

However, my site wasn't crowded and the electricity was reliable. This campground has three loops. One has 30 amp power, one has 50 amp power (with a 30 amp outlet on the same pedestal) and the third loop is for tent camping. There are several places to get water in the camp, so be sure to fill up your tanks before you park. There is a dump station. None of the sites are full hook up.

Each site has a picnic table and a grill.

There are two bath houses. The newer one - between loops one and three - also has laundry facilities.

Your payment for your campsite entitles you to admission to the beach, which is a hike or a drive away.

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

    Simple campground on Lake Ontario

We stayed here because it was near Niagara Falls and had site availability. We stayed at a non-electric campsite (mid-June). There were 4 other campsites occupied in our area. We have a camper van with solar power and fresh water. There is a shower in the non-electric section but it's not heated water. Since it's June, the temperature was only mildly shocking to my senses. However, the rest of the showers in the campground are heated (we checked). There are at least two laundry facilities. I actually exchanged cash for quarters at the front office. The grounds are well maintained. Beware of the resident skunk that walks around. I didn't test the cell signal here but I was able to work remotely and video chat.

    Cinderella Motel & Campsite

Basic, Convenient, VFM (value for money)

This campground is very basic with very close campsites.  The bathhouse and laundry are old but clean.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  It is very close to Niagara falls and for the money it is the best campground here.  KOA and Branches CGs are nicer but they are also triple the price which for us did not seem worth it.  We were in a back in gravel site that backed up to the motel which may not seem that nice but the electric, water and sewer worked perfectly.  Our 40 foot MH and Toad fit with room to spare.  There were sites that were on the outskirts of the property that backed to the woods which some people may prefer.  Those sites were just as close although there were several that would take big rigs bit don't expect to open your awnings in most sites.   There is a nice grassy area in the center with a small covered pavilion.   There are a few sites on the side/front of Motel.  We were here to visit Niagara Falls so location and a basic campground with full hookups was all we were looking for and this campground fit our needs perfectly.  We would stay here again.

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

An old campsite that fits our needs

This is not a resort campground nor is it a campground built for escapism. It’s very close to Niagara Falls, the Rainbow Bridge (for driving into Canada), and Buffalo, NY.

Mike is very friendly; check in was easy. The sites are full hook up or w/e only. There are pull throughs and back-ins, 30amp and 50amp sites. Your site is assigned once you arrive. You pay a deposit when you book and pay the rest when you arrive.

They have Good Sam and weekly discounts and I was also given a cash/check discount. So our total was $51 a night for a week’s stay.

The sites toward the front are definitely more level and have better cell service, but the sites toward the back are better shaded. Cell service and wifi was enough for me to work during the week and stream at night.

The facilities could use some work. They are very old, and it’s hard to tell if they are clean or just old. Laundry is available - $2.50 a wash/$1.75 a dry.

Basically, don’t expect a beautiful vacation campground. I work full time remotely from the camper. I was able to work during the days and get to Niagara Falls, CAN, and Buffalo quickly after work. Even with the discount, which I’m thankful for, it is overpriced for what it is. But it served my needs, I felt safe, and the owner was friendly so 3 stars. With some TLC to the sites and the facilities, I’d give it 4.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

    Good location

This campground is open year around which is really hard to find in this area. We needed to come here for personal reasons before any other campground was opened. So far this isn’t bad could be better/ cleaner.

It is 50 amp full hook up with free Wi-Fi that doesn’t suck.

The site are paved level back ins and pull throughs

The staff was nice enough. Haven’t had much interaction with him.

There is a great Italian store right across the street and Niagara Falls down the road. I would stay here in a pinch again

    Colden Lakes Resort

    Beautiful Campground

This a beautiful campground with very friendly staff. Our site was a level gravel back in site. The back in sites are very wide and roomy, the pull through sites are a little closer together. There are 4 small pristine lakes. It’s about an hour from Niagara Falls and out in the Country, very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely come back

Guide to Irving

What to Do

Lakeside activities: At Lake Erie State Park Campground, campers can enjoy spectacular lake views and sunsets. "The lake was one of the coolest lakes I've ever seen and the sites are beautiful right on the lake," notes one visitor. The park offers both swimming and wildlife viewing opportunities with "black squirrels, rabbits and birds" frequently spotted.

Water recreation: Multiple parks in the region feature water activities beyond swimming. "There is nice trails through the woods and nice camping spots with nice views of sunsets and the water," reports a camper about Evangola State Park. Kayaking opportunities exist at several locations, with some parks offering rentals during peak season.

Halloween events: Fall visitors should consider Jellystone Park of Western New York for seasonal activities. "Our favorite time of year to visit is around Halloween. They always have great activities and trick or treating with the kids," shares one family. The campground transforms with themed decorations and organized events throughout October weekends.

What Campers Like

Convenience to Niagara Falls: Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging offers practical access to the famous attraction. "Basic, clean campground about 20 mins from the Falls. Very convenient with nice workers," notes one reviewer. This provides a strategic base for day trips to the falls without the premium prices of accommodations directly adjacent to the tourist area.

Clean facilities: Most parks maintain well-kept bathhouses and common areas. At Evangola State Park, "the facilities in the campground are very good (relatively new bath house with nice clean showers)." Visitors consistently mention facility cleanliness as a highlight across multiple camping areas near Irving.

Kid-friendly amenities: Family activities abound at several parks. "There is something for everyone at this campground. They made recent additions that are awesome," writes a visitor about Jellystone Park. Features often include playgrounds, organized activities, and recreational facilities specifically designed for younger campers.

What You Should Know

Site privacy varies significantly: Many campgrounds offer limited separation between sites. At Evangola State Park Campground, "Our site was large enough, but there was no privacy. Every site is just open to all the rest." Look for edge sites when possible as they typically provide more seclusion and shade.

Noise considerations: Some locations experience traffic or neighboring camper noise. "The noises of the town made it very difficult to sleep in our tent. It's right off the main road and nearby trains blared their horns throughout the night," reports a visitor at Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging. RVs provide better sound insulation than tents at busier parks.

Water access points: Lake access varies by location with some requiring short walks or drives. "Short walk from campsite to the lake. Try to see sunset!" advises a Lake Erie State Park visitor. Beach areas can be rocky in places, with one visitor noting you should "wear water shoes, as the rocks stick up and are sharp in spots."

Tips for Camping with Families

Pool amenities: Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday offers excellent swimming options. "My child had a blast. The tent site wasn't private or fancy but the rest of the facility was great. Staff super nice. The pool is awesome," reports a family camper. Multiple parks feature swimming pools with varying hours and seasonal availability.

Playgrounds and recreation: Many campgrounds feature dedicated play areas. "There are tent and RV sites available, with 15/30/50 amp electric service. The playgrounds and picnic shelters (multiple of each) are in great condition," notes a Lake Erie State Park visitor. Check individual park websites for specific recreation options and seasonal program schedules.

Animal encounters: Wildlife viewing adds educational value for young campers. "We saw lots of wildlife (black squirrels, rabbits and birds). My dog was excited to get lots of walks during the time we were there," shares a visitor at Lake Erie State Park. Most parks allow leashed pets but require vaccination documentation.

Many RV campgrounds in Irving, New York offer full service connections, though state parks typically provide electric-only options.

Accessibility: Most RV campgrounds in the region accommodate larger vehicles. "Our site was a large pull-through, nice and level and had plenty of comfortable space between it and neighboring sites," notes one RVer about the Grand Island location. Check individual park specifications for maximum vehicle lengths before booking.

Seasonal considerations: The camping season in this region typically runs April through October. "We stayed here on 9/19 after spending the day hiking at Letchworth.
