Big Boondocking Area

Was exploring for a weekend campsite and turned north on hwy 485 just south of Jemez. After a few miles you get the opportunity to pass thru the Gilman Tunnels along the Jemez creek. For the next 11 miles there are numerous dispersed camping areas; however, vehicles are not allowed between road…

Jemez Mtns

This campground is a central and convenient location for visiting many of the local attractions, my favorite was Valles Caldera. Wooded area but sites were closer than we like. The trash cans were all locked (odd for June) and some bum left there trash at the locked dumpster.

Bandelier National Monument

This campground has numerous sites and many were open during our visit. Juniper provides good shade and often privacy between sites. Clean sites with big tables and adequate space. Suspect wildlife in the area indicated by double locked bear proof trash containers. The campgrounds made us feel…

Wild Rivers campgrounds

There are at least four established campground in the del Norte Wild Rivers Recreation area with La Junta being a walk-in and the others camping areas having the capability of parking really close to covered tables. Area is on the edge of the gorge overlooking the Rio Grande 800’ below or the Red…

First trip in my Winnebago Van

I stayed a week at Jemez Falls campground learning all about my new van. This is a pretty spot with lots of shade and plenty of firewood. There is water available but no electric. The site is level and I was able to back in easily! There was no service with t-mobile and that was a good thing! There…

Basic and good

This site is dusty & a little wild, but the views of the Rio Grande & mountains are great. Bathroom has clean running water. The shelter provides nice shade. Bugs & dust were only real drawback. Oh, and it was hot!

Wonderful views, spacious sites!

We really like this RV Park! The spaces are wide and angled enough to allow for great views! There are no trees, so you will be using your AC and awning when it’s hot out. Sites were quite level and hookups are easy access. There are both full hookup sites and water and electric only sites; there…

Great spots, but a little too close to other people.

FSR 181 B is a dispersed corridor, and on the little stretch of road there are like 6 sites. They aren't super close, but closer than I expected from dispersed camping. Travel further down 181 across the little canyon and there are more spread out sites, but they are also more exposed.

Caters to smaller camp trailers and tents

First, this campground is clean and well kept; Pavement throughout. However, if you are coming with a large RV, you may not find a suitable space. They advertise up to 40’, but there are only a few sites that can accommodate anything that large. We have a 25’ fifth-wheel and there were a lot of…

Nice but would be better in spring/fall

I came in on a Saturday and stayed three nights in the electric area. I reserved the last electric site which turned out to be wheelchair accessible. I hadn't seen that when making the res.It was bigger and off to the side, away from the row of RV park style sites.   I rode my bike around and saw…

Very clean & nice camp host

My family stayed here last weekend at site 29 (a tent-only site like 27&28). 26 is handicap and 27 and 28 have shade all day. 29 does not have shade however you can go up behind the site where there’s a nice clearing where we set up a few chairs and table to play board games. These sites have…

Lovely escape from the desert

Jemez Springs is a little over an hour from our house. The drive and the entire area are astonishingly beautiful, towering red cliffs, meandering river. Small campgrounds are along the river.

At Jemez Falls, the campground is trees and forest floor. Fragrant and cool. Reservations are needed and…
