    Scenic View Campground

    Great experience!

For a smaller campground it was everything we wanted; it was quiet; and the sites were a good size for our pop up; we stayed at site 20; which was the biggest along the waterfront. There is a nice walking trail and peaceful water view sites. The staff was super friendly and made our stay very enjoyable! Sites of all sizes from tent sites to large pull through sites for the big rigs! We will deff be back! Smaller camp store but there is a hardware/general store right down the road. Close to ATV trails. Ports potties were exceptionally clean. Propane is also sold on site. Pet friendly with appropriate documentation. I look forward to our next trip!

    Turtle Kraal RV Park

5 star RV campground - all the amenities and well cared for!

Turtle Kraal RV campground is a gated RV campground just outside Alton Bay NH.  Lots of great restaurants, ice cream shops and water activities are nearby!

The sign was easy to spot, right off the road, GPS leading us right to the entrance.  There is a long approach after you see the sign, and even a sharp turn before you see the gate.  We met the man at the gate (with his incredibly enormous husky) and provided us all the information we needed.  This campground has wifi, good cell signal (AT&T and Verizon), a great pool, is pet friendly and well maintained.  The bathhouse and pool were both very clean, and for as many RV's that were there - that was amazing!  Each site has a firepit and a picnic table - though many sites have additions and build for an extended stay!

This campground is huge - there is a lower loop and an upper loop with the bathhouse and pool right in the center.  Kids can ride their bikes around both loops, walk the dogs, play cornhole or horseshoes, etc.  Trash is well maintained, with enough dumpsters for the amount of campers they could hold at capacity.  They also have firewood for sale on your way in, so you don't have to chase a campground host or a little golf cart - you can buy what you need on your way back.  This is a very family friendly campground about an hour and a half north of Boston and about the same from the Whites.  A great base-camp for amazing days on Lake Winnipesauke!!

    Newfound RV Park

Nice place to explore the lakes region

We enjoyed our stay at Newfound RV Park thanks to their laundry facilities, rec room, and quirky owner. It was a great place to explore Newfound lake from, as well as the Mill Fudge Factory. Our site was full hookup and a pull through site. We used a Passport America discount here.

    Spacious Skies French Pond

Comes with a surprise French Pond

The campground has a gravel area at the sites where the fire ring and picnic tables are. Where we parked our trailer was some gravel sand and dirt. We were at the end of a lane, backing in was fine we are small, 21 feet including tongue, we fit fine. Great site across from a beach, on French Pond I’m guessing is at least 25 acres. Most of the sights are long term. Camp was pretty much full, even then it was quiet. Restroom closed to covid, some campgrounds kept them open and just cleaned more. Well no complaint here we’re self contained. Some areas could use some tidying up. Still I would gladly stay here again.

    Forest Lake Campgrounds

Weekend stay, lots of seasonal camping

Site was clean, easy to get in/out with 21' travel trailer. Swimming at the beach wasn't inviting. Lots of seasonal campers with years of lawn ornaments. There was a sense of the campground being clicky place. Pet friendly. Mixed emotions....

    Caton Place Campground

    No friendly service

This past holiday weekend we went to the campground. Upon arrival the owner made me go with them to the site and leave the motorhome blocking the entrance into the campground. The roads aren’t wide enough to take a motorhome into. The pull through site is not level and is barely long enough to fit my 43’ rig (with my motorcycle lift). The owner was very unfriendly. Driving out of the site was just as bad. You have to go down a small hill and bottom out the front and then drag the backend out of the dirt. This campground is not big rig friendly.

    Quechee-Pine Valley KOA

    Typical KOA

This KOA is what you expect from a KOA– lots of amenities, sites of all sizes and levels of cost, tons of activities, and in a vacation destination area. We spent five nights at the campground and found lots to do in the area and that we had an enjoyable and pleasant stay.

The park is a large park that is terraced since it is in a pretty hilly area. There is the range of sites from pull-thrus, pull-ins and back-in sites and can accommodate RVs of any size. Some sites are full hookup while others are not and that is reflected in the cost. We paid $57/nigh for our full hookup site which is pretty costly especially since we did not use any of the amenities. Most sites are gravel with gravel patios but there are deluxe sites with paved patios, patio furniture, umbrella, and gas bbq grill. There are also camping cabins, some of which have kitchenettes and bathrooms that sleep six people.

Our site, was located in the back of the park in a quieter section because it was away from most of the activities and park entrance. The site was a pull-in which was kind of nice because the view out of our front windshield was of a wooded area. Our fire pit was in the front of our site so there was a nice amount of privacy when we sat outside by a campfire and didn’t feel like we were on the side of the road. Despite the hilliness of the park and all the trees, we did not have any trouble navigating our 45’ RV to our site. The trees at our site would prevent satellite television reception but our site had cable and we got about 20 or so channels. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Like many KOAs there are tons of amenities and things for kids to do – swimming pool, fishing ponds, bike rental, scheduled activities, propane sales, camp store, fire wood delivery, and more. There is a fenced dog park which was a fairly good size and our lab was happy to chase a ball.

As a whole, the park was very clean and manicured. No trash laying around and the gravel roads were free of potholes. The campground is located near the Queechee Gorge, covered bridges, hiking trails (including sections of the Appalachian Trail), good dining, maple syrup/cheese farm, the Marsh Billings- Rockefeller National Historic Park.

    Swanzey Lake Camping Area

    Site 12 review (2 adults 1 child)

Site 12 a little tight for 21 ft travel trailer. Large tree canopy. Lots if seasonal sites make up a majority of sites. No WiFi, AT&T is 2 bars without booster. Spectrum cable available at the site, but TV service is very poor. Nice beach, but need to cross public road to get there - short walk. Relaxing evenings along side fire pit.

Guide to Newbury

RV sites near Newbury, New Hampshire provide access to the Lake Sunapee region, situated approximately 40 miles northwest of Concord at elevations ranging from 985 to 1,750 feet. The camping season typically runs from May through mid-October, with fall foliage reaching peak colors around the first week of October. Winter temperatures in the region can drop below 0°F, so most campgrounds close completely during winter months.

What to do

Hiking and waterfalls: The Jamaica State Park Campground offers access to multiple waterfall trails within hiking distance. "We hiked the west river trail (which leads right out of the campground) to Hamilton falls which is a gravel closed road that follows the west river upstream 2 miles to Hamilton falls trail which then leads up hill for another mile to the falls," reports one camper at Jamaica State Park.

Golfing opportunities: Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park combines camping with golf access. "The main attraction of this campground is the golf course of 9 or 18 holes. There is a pro shop, golf cart rentals, etc," notes a visitor to Hidden Valley RV Park. The facility spans 1,300 acres with both camping and golfing activities.

Water recreation: Swimming and boating options abound throughout the region. "Sandy beach by the water has plenty of room to relax out in the sun as well as launch areas to set out in a paddle boat, canoe or row boat, all available on site," explains a camper about Sandy Beach Campground facilities.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campground cleanliness receives consistent praise across multiple locations. "The bathhouse and pool were both very clean, and for as many RV's that were there - that was amazing!" shares a visitor to Turtle Kraal RV Park in Alton.

Friendly staff: Personal interactions with campground owners make a difference to many visitors. A camper at Riverbrook RV & Camping Resort reports: "The owners are super friendly and accommodating; the park is clean, comfortable, and convenient to adventures in the White Mountains; and the wifi worked great...especially when compared to other campgrounds we've been to."

Nature trails: Wooded walking paths provide opportunities to explore local ecosystems. "A fun plus to the campground was the nature walk and stream on the property. This was a great place to take our dog for a quick walk. There's even a little 'wishing' bridge that crosses the stream," notes a visitor to Newfound RV Park.

What you should know

Pet policies vary: While many campgrounds welcome pets, restrictions differ between facilities. At Silver Lakes Park Campground, "Pets are asked to stay home," according to a recent visitor. Other campgrounds have specific designated areas or vaccination requirements.

Internet connectivity: Working remotely may be possible at certain campgrounds. "I work remotely, so having internet access is mandatory, we were able to use our AT&T hotspot with decent service. That worked well enough for my needs, so I didn't test the onsite WiFi," explains a camper at Newfound RV Park.

Seasonal activities: Many campgrounds offer different experiences depending on when you visit. "In the Spring the water is released behind Ball Dam, creating a white water adventure," notes a Jamaica State Park visitor about seasonal river activities.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Multiple campgrounds feature dedicated play areas for children. At Woodmore Family Campground, a visitor mentions: "Everything was clean, staff was friendly and attentive. Pool was clean, they have a great wiffleball park."

Swimming options: Beach access varies between locations, with some offering sandy shores and others featuring pools. "The sandy beach is nice but the swimming area is quite weedy," notes a camper about Sandy Beach Campground.

Kid-friendly activities: Organized events keep children entertained at some locations. "Jamaica State Park has a playground and nature area for kids. Very family friendly place with beautiful hikes to Hamilton falls," reports a visitor.

Tips from RVers

Site configurations: RV site layouts differ significantly between campgrounds. "The water and electric were between our site and the next on one side and sewer between our site and the one on the other side. This made it difficult to place our trailer on the slanted site and reach all services," warns a visitor to Hidden Valley RV Park.

Full-hookup availability: Most RV parks near Newbury offer water, electric, and sewer connections, but amp ratings vary. "Turtler Kraal has wifi, good cell signal (AT&T and Verizon), a great pool, is pet friendly and well maintained," reports a camper describing this Alton-based campground option.

Seasonal vs. transient sites: Many campgrounds allocate a portion of sites for seasonal campers. "A lot of the campers are seasonal which is May - October each year. I did not see any tents there, only hard-sided units," observes a Hidden Valley RV Park visitor.
