Best Glamping in Nevada

Nevada's glamping scene includes Walker Lake's Sportsman's Beach, which offers yurts alongside standard camping, providing a luxury outdoor experience with views of the scenic lake. The recreation area features picnic tables, fire pits, and toilet facilities for glampers seeking both comfort and natural beauty. "Great campground for either tents, trailers, class A or C motorhomes. Quiet and close to Colorado River," notes one visitor about the Big Bend recreation area, another glamping destination. Other notable locations include Ely KOA and Wendover KOA, which house cabin and yurt accommodations with modern amenities like electricity, comfortable beds, and private spaces that elevate the outdoor experience beyond traditional camping, allowing visitors to enjoy Nevada's landscapes without sacrificing comfort.

Luxury canvas tents and glamping accommodations at properties like Zephyr Cove Resort provide direct access to outdoor recreation while maintaining creature comforts. Many glamping sites in Nevada boast proximity to hiking trails, with Baker Creek Campground in Great Basin National Park serving as a prime example where guests can enjoy mountain views and outdoor exploration. A recent visitor mentioned, "This is a great experience, a warm experience staying in this room." Several Nevada glamping locations feature on-site activities like stargazing, benefiting from the state's famous dark skies, particularly in remote areas like Beatty where one reviewer highlighted the experience of "camping on top of the old gold mill overlooking the entire operation" with fabulous mountain views. Most glamping sites operate year-round, though mountain locations like Baker Creek maintain seasonal schedules from May to October due to weather conditions.

Big Bend of the Colorado State Recreation Area

    Clean campground near Colorado River.

This was a small, 24-site campground near the Colorado River. The sites are not reservable so first come first served. The grounds and bathroom were clean. There are coin showers so make sure to bring quarters if you’re planning to use them. Otherwise, the river was really cool and refreshing. There were ants on our tent pad so we didn’t use the regular tent. We were one of the few tent campers, everyone else was in RV’s/trailers.

It is somewhat near the highway so you can hear cars that drive over the rumble strips from time to time (so bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper).

The sites also have hookups, a grill, a fire pit and shade ramadas. There are a few bushes separating you from other campsites and they were spaced pretty decently where we didn’t hear the RV noises.

The beach area to the river was within walking distance. There are shade ramadas too and some have picnic tables. The water was very cold but refreshing.

I would camp here again in the cooler months or if I had an air conditioned rig during the warmer months. It got up to the high 90s during the day but was nice and cool late at night.

if it wasn’t for the river I’d give this campground about 3 stars because of the ants and highway noise.

(sorry for the lack of photos for the whole site)

    Ely KOA

    All the basics you need

It’s a KOA Journey, so, close to a “major” road (RT 93), which was very quiet despite proximity. It’s got nice views across the street, so if you’re on the first row of campsites, you’ll get front row seats. The spaces are quite close together, so privacy is minimal, though everyone was very respectful and quiet during quiet hours. Nice spot for access to Great Basin NP (which is a jewel, btw). Lots of options for fishing, kayaking, and other outdoor activities nearby too. We went to Cave Lake and were not impressed but... maybe it was just the wrong time of year (end of May). Sites are mostly level and big-rig friendly, hookups on site were reliable!

Baker Creek Campground — Great Basin National Park

    Amazing campground!

I recently went to Great Basin National Park and stayed at the Baker Creek Campground. The campground was very clean & very well kept up. It had multiple spaces to place tents, a picnic table, a firepit and their was also a bathroom on the campground. The bathroom was extremely clean for being outside and basically being set up like a port-a-potty. It also even had seat covers and toilet paper. The campground also has "quiet hours" at night so it's very peaceful out there. There is also a small river inside of the campground and you can hear the water running from your space. It's amazing! I would recommend this campground to everyone!

Upper Campground - Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge

Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, near Alamo, NV

Ranger Review: GCI Pod Rocker at Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, near Alamo, NV.

    CAMPGROUND REVIEW

Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, 9 miles south of near Alamo, NV. This campground is absolutely gorgeous and FREE!! However, nothing is ever really"free," so the price you pay is tolerating the noise from the very close US 93 highway. Noise diminishes at night, as there's very little truck traffic. At the time of this writing, Interstate 15 is detoured to this highway en route to Utah(until Spring 2020). All sites are first come first serve.  Each site has a picnic table, grill, fire pit, and a view of Upper Pahranagat Lake. Sites were clean& tidy in spite of no camp hosts. There are very few amenities: No water and a few scattered vault toilets. There is a handicap accessible site at the end of the long campground road with a paved stretch of sidewalk that goes to the south end of the lake. At the south end, there is a telescope for viewing wildlife and a park bench. We fished in the kayak a bit, but there were no bites. The landscaping is beautiful, with song birds always chirping. There's also a loop trail around the lake and another trail to the visitor's center.

    PRODUCT REVIEW

As a ranger for The Dyrt, I get products to test from time to time. While camping at Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, we tested the GCI Pod Rocker.

    https://www.gcioutdoor.com/rockers/pod-rocker/

GCI Pod Rocker looks very sharp and is well constructed. However, it seems to be more suited for a heavier person. For a lighter person, the rocking motion takes some work, unless the chair is positioned on a downward sloping hill. Sets up quick and easy, has a little drink holder pouch, and it has nice storage case with shoulder strap.

    Pod Rocker in action:  https://youtu.be/MnZ4hCHwrXY

In summary, we loved camping at Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, but with no water the stay was brief. However, adding this fun chair to our camping gear made our stay extra comfy!

    Cathedral Gorge State Park Campground

    Immaculate Campground

This was our second Nevada State park campground and it was just as immaculate as the first. The sites were level, groomed, and not a speck of trash to be found. Great Verizon service, no ATT. We didn’t use the bathroom because of covid, but based on the cleanliness of the rest of the place, it was probably perfect. The park is nice, definitely worth a day’s visit. This campground would make a good base for exploring more state parks nearby.

Upper Campground - Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge

    Free Camping Lakeside

Campground Review: This lake is incredible! It is on the road to Cathedral Gorge State Park and filled with wildlife! We were there for the bird count and it took all day just to count the birds on the lake.

There are fifteen lakeside campsites are available along Upper Pahranagat Lake. Sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. They are free, but there is a donation box at the registration kiosk if you want to leave some support for the Fish and Wildlife Service. The refuge reserved sites for our group participating in the bird count service project. So be aware that you might want to have a back up plan if the sites are full since there is no reservation channel.  Several of the sites can accommodate multiple tents, camping trailers, or RVs. No electrical, water or sewage facilities are available. There are vault toilets.

Visitors may stay for a maximum of fourteen days within a 31 day period. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am. Generators are allowed, but if the generator is noisy it should be shut down overnight to respect other campers. Fires are allowed only in provided grills and fire pits.

Non-motorized boats or boats with electric motors are permitted on Middle Marsh Unit and Lower Lake throughout the year, and on Upper Lake from February 1 through September 30. Upper Lake is closed to boating October 1-January 30. Due to fragile habitats, the use of boats, rubber rafts, or other flotation devices is not permitted on the North Marsh at any time. Watercraft must be in compliance with all applicable state and federal rules. Trailer launching is not permitted. To prevent the spread of invasive species, only car-top watercraft are permitted.

    Cathedral Gorge State Park Campground

    Very Unique location

Nice little campground located in the Cathedral Gorge State Park in Eastern central Nevada. Sites are first come first serve. Each has Electrical hook ups, but no sewer/dump facilities. Bathrooms have running water and a shower which is very nice. The hiking trails are great and provide lots of exploring on the Cathedral Gorge.
