Indian Trees Campground is a quiet place to stay 3/4 miles off of Highway 93 in the mountains of southwest Montana. It provides access to a number of enjoyable recreational activities, as well as the vast scenery of the rugged Bitterroot National Forest. The area boasts wild game, high quality water and wild and scenic rivers.
Visitors enjoy a variety of recreational opportunities, including hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. A number of trails can be accessed near the campground, including the Nez Perce National Historic Trail and the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. The Nez Perce NHT is a 3.1-mile trail begins near the turnoff to the campground and follows a portion of the original Nez Perce route. Explorers in the early 1800s also used the route, and wagon ruts are still visible along parts of the trail. The Continental Divide National Scenic Trail is also nearby. Fishing is available in nearby Camp Creek. Anglers will find mostly cutthroat trout but other species are available. A variety of wildlife, including big game like mule and white-tailed deer, elk and moose, makes its home in the area.
The campground offers 15 single-family campsites, available for tent and RV camping. Most sites can accommodate up to 10 people and two vehicles, however, one site can accommodate up to 15 people. Site #6 is accessible, while Site #2 is designated for use by bicyclists. Each site is equipped with a table and campfire ring with grill. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water are provided. A campground host is on-site. Utility hookups are not available.
The campground is conveniently located near Highway 93, at an elevation of about 5,100 feet. It is named for the numerous scarred ponderosa pine trees in the area. Native American populations that once lived in or frequented the area stripped the trees of bark to expose and extract the tree's sweet cambium layer for food. The trees remain historically significant and provide shade to the campground.
Popular Lost Trail Hot Springs is located less than a half-mile from the campground. Unlike the majority of natural hot springs, Lost Trail lacks sulfur, making it odorless and very comfortable for swimming. A general store and lodging is located in Sula Store, about 5 miles north.

Sam Billings Memorial Campground is located off of the West Fork Rd and consists of 12 campsites complete with picnic tables, and fire rings. There is also a large area ideal for group activities. Other facilites include vault toilets. Campground can accommodate RV's or trailers to 30 feet.

This campground is located at the junction of Moose and Martin Creek and consists of 7 campsites with picnic tables, fire rings, and a vault toilet. Will accept RV's or trailers to 50'. It is also close to trailhead access to the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness at the east end of Forest Roads #5771 and #724.
Hogan Cabin is a small cabin located on the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail in western Montana. The cabin was built in the 1920s to provide field quarters for trail crews, smoke chasers, timber cruisers and grazing inspectors that worked in the area. It is a great retreat for snow lovers in the winter, as the cabin provides access to a variety of snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails. Summer and fall months give guests plenty of daylight and moderate temperatures to explore the surrounding meadows, peaks and valleys, as well as fish in plentiful mountain streams. The cabin is only accessible by motorized vehicle during the summer months and until snow closes the road. Guests may have to snowmobile, hike or ski up to six miles, depending on conditions. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.
The surrounding hills and valleys are popular for hiking and backpacking in the summer and fall, and for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling in the winter. The cabin sits along the famous Lewis and Clark Trail, which led frontier explorers through the area in the early 1800s. The entire length of the trail covers 4,600 miles, showcasing some of the most beautiful and rugged areas of America. Hunting and fishing are also popular in the area. Mountain creeks and streams run near the cabin, and wildlife is abundant in the surrounding forest. It is also a popular place to watch for various bird species.
The one-room log cabin has bunk beds and mattresses to sleep up to four people. It has a table and chairs, a propane stove, propane lantern, and a variety of cooking, eating and cleaning equipment. A wood stove is available for heat, and firewood and an axe are provided from September 16-June 15. Firewood is not provided from June 16-September 15. An outhouse with vault toilet and a campfire ring with grill are located nearby. The cabin has no electricity or running water. Guests will need to bring water for drinking, cooking and cleaning purposes, as well as small propane canisters for the stove and lantern. Guests also need to bring their own bedding, food, towels, soap, matches and flashlights, toilet paper, garbage bags and other necessities. There is no cell phone service available at the cabin. Guests are required to pack out all trash and food and clean the cabin prior to leaving.
The cabin is situated on the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail at an elevation of about 7,300 feet. It is at the southwestern end of the Anaconda Mountains, near the Sapphire Range, in the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The Anacondas are home to abundant wildlife, including mountain lions, elk, deer, moose and bears (learn more about bear safety).

Twin Creek Group Camping Site is part of the larger Twin Creek Campground. This beautiful campsite is located 15 miles north of North Fork, Idaho, and is situated along Twin Creek at an elevation of 5,100 feet.
The recreational opportunities are abundant in this corner of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. There are fishing opportunities in the North Fork of the Salmon River and in Twin Creek. For the hikers, there are numerous trails in the area but trails #6108 and #6109 are located just behind the campground (pick up a visitor map or contact the North Fork District Office for more information). During certain parts of the year berry picking can be excellent around the campground.
Twin Creek Campground Group Camping Site has numerous amenities including a large parking area (for multiple vehicles and or trailers), a double vault toilet, drinking water, four picnic tables (two of which are extra-long), a large fire ring, multiple barbeque pedestals, a large barbeque pit, a historic pavilion with a picnic table and benches, and two horseshoe pits. Electricity and water/sewer hookups are not available at this site/campground.
Twin Creek Campground Group Camping Site is located in the Twin Creek drainage near its confluence with the North Fork of the Salmon River. Large pine trees and brush surround the campsite offering plenty of shade and privacy.
While you are in the area be sure to check out the beautiful Salmon River, located 15 south of the campsite. Also, brush up on some history and imagine you are Lewis and Clark as you travel along Highway 93, which contains portions of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail.
