    Livingston/Paradise Valley KOA Holiday

    Great location for the parks.

Great little KOA. Awesome views of the Absaroka range. Book early. Tent sites were great. Nice dog park, small though.

    Bear Canyon Campground

    Steep steep

Not the best experience. The entrance is quite tricky and very steep. We missed the entrance and had to find a place to unhook and turn around. (We’re in a 36’ RV pulling a Jeep) The hookup spaces are so close together you can touch your neighbor, so we missed the beautiful views the partial hook up guys were able to enjoy. It’s a little run down and quite pricy. The dog “park” isn’t fenced, so if your hoping to let your dogs stretch there legs, this isn’t the place for you. We will find another stop next time we come through.

Bozeman Hot Springs Campground & RV

Good place to stay, nice hot springs

Nice dog park across the street, sites are a little tight but its perfect for a couple night stay. Awesome that its only 35 miles to Big Sky and its a gorgeous drive. Our sire only had electric/water but i know there are some with full hookups. Picnic tables and fire rings and sites are gravel.

Spring Creek Campground & Trout Ranch

Love the Sound of the River

We followed our RV GPS right to the campground (CG), which is a favorite of ours for a two-night stay. Check-in was quick and easy. We proceeded to Deluxe River site 18 with 30 AMP and water. You can angle the rig in as you want to get set up on the wide pad area. The utilities were in the middle of the gravel pad, and we could park where our 9’ patio could come out to enjoy the gorgeous view of the river. They have free WiFi, but it was not very fast, and we used our Starlink. There are mature trees here, but we got a clear shot north for Starlink. We got 3 bars on Verizon. The water pressure was okay. Talking to our next-door neighbors, who have stayed here over the years, this CG is under new management by a couple who also owned a KOA in Billings. There are already changes, such as getting rid of the cabins and putting in some new FHU sites. There may be plans for new cabins in the future. We also noticed that from staying here in September 2019, the ponds are now state-stocked, and you need a Montana fishing license following regular fishing regulations versus no-license pay for the trout you catch. They also have a military and senior discount, but this wasn't mentioned/given when we made our reservations online. We mentioned it to the lady who checked us in, but she didn't offer to refund us the discount like other CG's have done in the past. There is no dog park, but there’s plenty of area to walk your dog. Someday we are going to plan a longer than two-day stay so we can further explore the area and fly fish the river.

    Yellowstone Edge RV Park

    Worth it for the view

Right on the edge of the Yellowstone River, about 90 minutes north of Yellowstone NP. This is an RV Park, so no tents are allowed. The view of the river and the mountains is fantastic. And, it’s close to dining in Livingston if you want that. Laundry facilities and a larger than average store. Pet friendly. The sites are small. But, I would definitely go back.

    Cottonwood Reservoir Dispersed Camping

Very hard to find at night

This place seemed promising at first. It was hard to find a decent spot at night due to only using headlights of my van. Most of the road is extremely rugged/uneven/full of large holes. The only place I was able to stay for the night was the road leading up to the locked gate. This is about the only nice spot. Other than that this place is • quiet w/occasional traffic along the high way (right next to reservoir) • very few people here, but far enough away from me • no fee required • provides OK view to the mountains • great when you bring along a pet • you will need to be fully prepared for primitive camping

Spring Creek Campground & Trout Ranch

    Kids love it here

I have 5 kids of all ages. They love it here. Fishing ponds and river too. The husband and wife have worked so hard to make this place fun for everyone. Kids got to feed fish in the pond just stop in and ask for the food. They are kind to kids and pets as well. I spent my time doing this full time and people that run campgrounds don't always have the most respect for dogs or kids. Spent 30 days here. Nice little town as well with kind people.

Guide to Emigrant

Dispersed camping options abound near Emigrant, Montana, with the Yellowstone River and Absaroka Mountain Range creating a distinctive camping landscape. Located in Paradise Valley at approximately 4,900 feet elevation, the area experiences significant temperature swings between day and night, with afternoon winds common in many lakeside camping areas. Most campsites are located within 30 minutes of Yellowstone National Park's north entrance.

What to do

River access for dogs: Mallard's Rest provides excellent Yellowstone River access where pets can enjoy the water. "Nice spot along the Yellowstone River. There were no hookups that we found but it was still a great spot to enjoy peace and quiet and beautiful views," notes Ashley M.

Mountain hiking with pets: The Paradise Valley area offers numerous trails where leashed dogs can join you. "Lots of trailheads near the campgrounds. Pets are allowed off leash (if well behaved)," reports Brittany H. about Hood Creek Campground.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Many campgrounds near Emigrant provide wildlife viewing without entering Yellowstone. "We shared our site with some curious but shy prairie dogs," reports Carmen at Loch Leven, while other reviewers mention elk sightings at several campgrounds along the river corridor.

What campers like

Winter camping options: Canyon Campground remains open year-round for those seeking off-season camping when other sites close. "This campground is a small campground about 20 minutes away from the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park. It consists of 2 small loops on a 'first come, first served' basis. Cost is $7 a night to camp," explains Elizabeth G.

Budget-friendly sites: Carbella Rec Site offers economical camping with basic amenities. "BLM campground right on the Yellowstone River. It has 17 numbered sites plus a tent area. It was free but has now gone to a fee system of $15 a night," explains host Ron.

Solitude and space: Many campers appreciate the wide spacing at Dailey Lake. "Able to camp real close to the lake and campsites are spaced out enough so you don't feel like you're on top of your neighbor. Fire pit and picnic table at each site," notes Noah L.

What you should know

Wind conditions: Multiple dog-friendly campgrounds near Emigrant experience persistent winds. "We had a hard time finding this place via Google maps and had to switch it into topographic view to find our way there, as Google maps did not take us the correct way. Nice sites but it was very windy when we arrived and had to use the car to block the wind to even get the tent set up," warns Stephanie S. about Dailey Lake.

Limited water access: Many campgrounds require you bring your own water supply. "No water, but right on the Yellowstone River. You hear the road noise at night but if you need a beautiful spot as part of the Yellowstone excursion it's a good one nighter," notes Erica T. about Mallard's Rest.

Pet waste issues: Some camping areas report problems with pet waste management. "The river access was nice, as were the campsites. However, there were not many marked tent sites and there was dog poop everywhere," reports Tara W. at Mallard's Rest.
