Lake of the Ozarks State Park Campground

Pretty camping area, lake was filthy and smelly

This was a pretty campsite with lots of trees and simple deer trails throughout. Sites are well spread out. The lake itself was filthy and smelly. Lots of trash and rotting fish on the shorelines. The campground website said they had WiFi throughout the campsite, however it was only available at the front office. No cell service. We had planned to stay for a week to school and work remotely, but had to cut our time here short because of no connectivity. If we hadn’t had the need for WiFi, this would have been a fine campground to stay at, as it is centrally located to many sightseeing locations.

Sties were level, kid and pet friendly, quiet campground, 30/50 amp electricity, no water hookups, firewood avail for fire pits, also had nice picnic tables. Inexpensive.

    Damsite

    Good fishing and great views

Very peaceful campground. It has a peninsula with some nice, shady sites but also another very wooded area on a bluff. The backside of the peninsula has zero shade (sites 26-40). All sites have good picnic tables and fire rings. Sites near the dump station can be very aromatic. No swim beach but you can access the water straight from the rocky shore. A lot of people tie their boats to shore below their campsite. There is a gas station/trading post right outside the entrance. And a tasty little restaurant with all kinds of sandwiches and ice cream treats. Beautiful sunrises and the sun sets over the dam. I really like this campground. Family friendly and everyone seems to have a dog:) but people do a good job of picking up after them.

    Turkey Creek RV Park

    Nice Campground! Nice and Quiet!

Turkey Creek was a very nice campground for our month long stay.  The park is well maintained and clean.  It is very quiet!  There is a train track nearby, but we only heard it a few times during our stay.

Amenities included full hook up, laundry room, bathrooms, showers and a fenced dog park where you 4 legged friends can enjoy some off-leash time.  We had 4 bars with AT&T and waffled between 1-3 bars with Verizon.

The location is great for visiting local attractions such as Branson Landing, Silver Dollar City and Top of the Rock.

Really appreciate the park manager, she was friendly and brought an overpayment to our attention and quickly issued a refund.

    Great experience overall!

    B Berry Farms & Co.

    Peaceful sleeping

Driving through Missouri needed a quiet place to stay. We stayed at Honey Berry Hideout, it has metal fire ring and grill. The owners were very friendly , informed us amenities , they have coffee pot , small stove to use in a barn in walking distance, bathrooms and showers for small fees. Family friendly with large area for kids to play.

    Laurie RV Park

    Nothing fancy

We stayed here for 3 weeks, full hookups, all large pull through sites, (don’t stay in site 16)… (see photo) clubhouse and shower house is kinda nasty but we don’t need it, 6-8 trailers live there year round, no staff on site, WiFi was sketchy but if you are just looking for a place to stay and explore the Ozarks it works.

Raccoon Ridge — Harry S Truman State Park

Shaded, Quiet and close to the lake!

Site 36 with 30A & 120V. Public Water Spigot about 50’ away. No Sewer or Water connections at Raccoon Ridge. Plenty of dead kindling and wood around to burn. Asphalt drive with concrete pad. Picnic table, fire/grill ring, hook post w/ recycle bag attached. BEST Site is 38 which puts trailer door parallel with a 180 lake view. Heavy wooded with shared paths to lake or cove. Marina is within 1 mile by water or 15 minutes by car. Ice, Beer and necessities at Puddle Jumpers Bait Store about 10 minute drive. Hosts were great and did cleaning daily. Showers and Dump Station at top of hill few hundred yards away. Let shower water run about 3 minutes before the warm water kicks in. Swim beach is on other side of cove or about a 5 min drive. Dump Station has 4 Waste Holes, two Non-potable water spigots/hoses and one Fresh Potable Water hose and both sides have slight incline on dump tank side. Downtown Warsaw is about 15 minutes away with tourist antique shoppes, bars, ice cream shoppes and the historic Joe Dice Suspension Bridge. The Truman Dam is about same distance away. T-Mobile service with 2-3 bars, no WIFI; but HotSpot worked for ROKU. Keep food and bait inside as raccoons rule at night. Be CAUTIOUS of Red Ticks that are VERY tiny… you’ll want plenty of DEET! Flies were biting like crazy, some mosquitoes and LOTS of May Flies. You’ll see Bald Eagles, raccoons. deer, squirrels, chipmunks, hawks, turtles and FISHING near wooded edge of cove is Bass and Crappie haven!!! Also Geocaching near by!!!

We will return and hopefully get site 38!

    Damsite

    Another amazing COE campground

Another wonderful Corps of Engineers campground on Pomme De Terre Lake. There are basic campsites and campsites with full hookups. The campsites are spacious and overlook the lake. This is such a beautiful, well maintained campground. Every campsite is level and has a picnic table and fire ring. During the off season ( Oct 1 - Nov.30 & March 14th - Apr 14 ) all campsites ( electric and primitive ) are only $10. ( limited amenities) From Jan 5th - March 14th campsites are free at Damsite Park. However, there is no electric or water available at that time.
Please check the Pomme De Terre USACE website for changes and regular season rates. 50% off all rates with America the beautiful/senior access pass at all Corps of Engineers campgrounds.
I highly recommend this campground. 4g LTE and great cell signal.

Guide to Roach

Campgrounds near Roach, Missouri offer lakeside camping with direct reservoir access. The region sits at approximately 700 feet elevation with humid summers and mild shoulder seasons from April through October. Terrain ranges from forested hillsides to gravel shorelines with several campgrounds positioned on bluffs overlooking Lake of the Ozarks.

What to do

Water recreation access: Cross Creek RV Park features an 8-acre stocked fishing lake with boat rentals and paddleboats. "Campground sits on 70 acres and includes an 8 acre stocked lake. Boat rental, paddle boats, miniature golf, shuffleboard, volleyball, playground, hiking and a general store," notes camper Sherry D.

Family games and activities: Several campgrounds provide on-site entertainment beyond water activities. "Kids love the mini golf, shuffleboard, and basketball. Huge private lake great for fishing and watching duck families swim by and come up to you on the grass," reports a visitor at Cross Creek RV Park.

Lakefront dining options: Campers at Scallywag's RV Park enjoy convenient waterside dining. "There's a waterside restaurant called Captain Ron's at the bottom of the hill (same 5 min walk) that is family friendly and has lots to offer," shares David, who appreciated the proximity to food options.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many rv sites near Roach, Missouri maintain high cleanliness standards for bathrooms and public areas. "The park is very clean, the employees are friendly and helpful. Good wifi and cable tv. The in ground pool is clean," writes TJ G. about Majestic Oaks RV Park.

Scenic views: Campsites often feature views of Lake of the Ozarks. "Camp is clean, and very quiet. WiFi works okay. Best part of this park is you can see the lake from many of the campsites, and the pool. The pool area sits on top of a bluff overlooking the lake," notes TJ G. about Riveria Villas & RV Resort.

Responsive staff: Staff attentiveness stands out at several campgrounds. "While we were getting set up they brought the ice and wood we requested, again with a smile! Everyone was incredibly kind and friendly and you can tell from the moment you pull in that this place is loved," reports Sadie H. at Majestic Oaks.

What you should know

Road conditions: Access roads to some campgrounds present challenges for large rigs. "The road to get in and out of this place is absolutely ridiculous. You can try to go 1mph to avoid potholes or washed out area just to hit the next pothole and washed out area," warns Sean about Cross Creek RV Park.

Construction status: Some newer facilities remain in development. "It is clearly still under construction (6/30/23), which I was not aware of. My guess is this was the first season it was open. Half of the park still had conex boxes and construction equipment around," notes TJ G. about Lake Ozarks RV Resort.

Site spacing varies: RV campsites range from spacious to compact depending on the property. "We were here over Memorial Day weekend and it was still so nice a peaceful. The place was completely full. The spaces were not too close to each other and ours backed to woods," observes David E. at Osage Beach RV Park.

Tips for camping with families

Seasonal activities: Some campgrounds offer special family events during holidays. "The events around halloween are always so fun for kids and adults alike. They truly put so much work into making it the best experience for their guests," mentions Hattie about Majestic Oaks.

Safety considerations: Busy campgrounds may require extra vigilance with children. "Only issue was the kids being allowed on golf carts all day and late into the night flying all over both directions. Kids on bikes all night with no lights on bikes or grounds. It's a free for all," cautions Fred R. at Coconuts RV Resort.

Island camping options: For a unique family experience, consider island tent sites. "We tent camped on the island for 2 nights. It was awesome, you can fish right off the bank of your own private island within minutes of waking up. Had a restroom on the island, big plus for a family with 5 little ones," shares Barrett C. about Cross Creek RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: RV camping near Roach offers options for various preferences. "Each site has full hook ups. They have separate trailer parking if you're set up is too long to keep hooked up," notes a camper about Scallywag's RV Park.

Park location factors: Consider proximity to town when selecting an RV site. "This was a very nice, clean campground in the city of Osage Beach. It was quiet, with not a lot to do at the campground itself, but is centrally located to a lot of sight-seeing adventures," mentions a camper at Osage Beach RV Park.

Seasonal maintenance: Campgrounds in this region often operate seasonally with varying levels of maintenance. "Great experience. Access to camping ground was little difficult. It was gravel road but it was very steep hill (very common in this area)," shares Martin J. about access challenges at Cross Creek RV Park.
