RV campgrounds in Kimberling City, Missouri provide excellent access to Table Rock Lake's 745 miles of shoreline. Located in the Ozark Mountains at approximately 920 feet elevation, the area experiences relatively mild winters compared to northern Missouri, making some campgrounds suitable for year-round stays. Most facilities are within a 20-minute drive to Branson attractions while offering the tranquility of lakeside camping.
What to do
Creek exploration: Bull Creek RV Park offers 400 feet of creek access where families can wade and cool off. "Amazing creek access for kids to swim (knee deep at most). Feels like you're in the country while being very close to the hustle and bustle of Branson and SDC," notes Ethan W.
Trout fishing: Cooper Creek Resort sits on Lake Taneycomo, ideal for anglers targeting cold-water trout. "Great place to stay when visiting Branson. Located on Lake Tanneycomo, in the cool water trout fishing portion of the lake. The water temp keeps this park cool during the hotter days of the summer," explains Craig B.
Mountain biking: Blowing Springs RV Park connects directly to extensive trail systems. "This is your basic parking lot campground... BUT you have incredible instant access to the trailhead of many singletrack bike and hiking trails," shares Brian S. Another camper adds, "Such easy access to the Back 40 and Slaughter Pen mountain bike trails! We get on our bikes and ride all day."
What campers like
Private lakefront sites: Edgewater Beach Resort offers spacious RV sites with separation between neighbors. "Sites are very large with full hookups. Loved the solitude of being by the water. We had another RV next to us for a few days, but with the privacy fence in between you would never know it," reports Phara Q.
Clean, modern facilities: Kimberling City area campgrounds maintain high standards. At Area 71 RV Park, one camper was particularly impressed: "The bathroom's are beautiful! Individual rooms with toilet, sink and showers. All tile with glass shower doors. With state of the art washers and dryers."
Natural woodland settings: Branson Shenanigans RV Park offers a secluded feel despite its convenient location. "Spots are strategically placed and surrounded by woods. It's close enough to all of the action but feels like you are light years away," notes Natalie B.
What you should know
Reservation timing: Book well ahead for peak seasons, especially at popular lakefront sites. At Edgewater Beach Resort, "Very spacious campsites, level gravel sites with plenty of room for rv and tow vehicles and boat trailers. Sites are on the Lake Taneycomo and have full hookups and internet."
Site leveling needs: Gravel sites at many area RV parks may require leveling. Check the specific site details when booking.
Amenities vary widely: Not all RV parks offer full facilities. Branson Shenanigans RV Park has full hookups but no shower facilities or dump station. According to reviews, "Our site was full hookups, cable tv box loaned to us. Fire pits available on request."
Management changes affect quality: Some properties improve dramatically with new ownership. Hide-A-Way Campground recently changed hands, with one guest noting, "The new owners came in, in December and quickly cleared out the problem guests made everyone clean everything up and made the place back to its former glory."
Tips for camping with families
Look for kid-specific amenities: Many campgrounds cater specifically to families. "Branson Treehouse Adventures is close enough to the hubbub of Branson but even though it is located on a busy road, once you enter, it is quiet and peaceful," says Lee D. The campground features "a pool (in season), a nice and creative playground and a pirate ship, a basketball net, tether ball, and two hiking trails."
Water activities are plentiful: Table Rock Lake offers multiple swimming areas. As one camper at Bull Creek RV Park described, "Nice size sites. A lot of activities are available free to campers. Barbeque food truck is very very good...huge proportions."
Consider unique accommodations: Beyond traditional camping, Branson Treehouse Cabin & RV Park offers themed treehouse cabins. "The kids loved that the upstairs was up a ladder and running across the swinging bridge. The playground has a zipline that all the kiddos had a blast using," notes Barrett C.
Tips from RVers
Site selection matters: At Hide-A-Way Campground & RV Retreat, guests recommend checking site location. "Perfect location in Branson! Nice park, well marked and easy to get into and out of, friendly and very accommodating management. Nice shady space and all hookups work as they should," reports Ray S.
Back road access: Navigating around Branson traffic is easier from some locations. Cooper Creek Resort "is very convenient for slipping around the back roads to access the fun of Brandon without having to drive the busy main road," according to Craig B.
Consider temperature variations: The cooler water of Lake Taneycomo creates different camping conditions than Table Rock Lake. "In the mornings you often will find someone enjoying their coffee as they watch the fog roll across the waters, a picturesque view that is well worth a visit," notes Crystal C. about Cooper Creek Resort.
