Both tent camping and RV sites accommodate dogs, with a restriction of no more than two pets per site. Klondike Park provides pet-friendly cabin options along with traditional camping sites, requiring pets to be leashed at all times on designated trails. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Resort welcomes pets at tent sites, RV spaces, and select cabin rentals for an additional fee. The campground features dedicated pet waste stations and a designated dog walking area. All campgrounds enforce standard pet policies requiring current vaccinations, proper cleanup, and supervision. Most sites charge pet fees ranging from $5-15 per stay depending on accommodation type. Heavy equestrian use at Greensfelder means campers with dogs should be comfortable around horses, especially on weekends.

Multiple hiking trails near these campgrounds provide excellent opportunities for dog walking. Greensfelder County Park offers well-marked paths through wooded areas where horses, hikers, and pets share trails. Leashed dogs are permitted on all hiking routes at Klondike Park, with water access points suitable for pets to cool off. During summer months, early morning hikes are recommended to avoid heat stress on dogs. Both Greensfelder and Klondike provide water sources near campsites, though bringing portable pet water dishes is advised. Most campgrounds enforce quiet hours from 10pm-6am with strict barking policies. Six Flags Veterinary Hospital in nearby Eureka offers emergency services for camping pet emergencies. The family tent sites at Greensfelder remain active during daylight hours due to their proximity to the main park road. Twin Eagle Lake Estates & Hideout

      Beautiful place-

This was our first trip together in our new camper. It was a little rough assessing the place thru the website but the reviews swayed us. There are walking paths all around and a beautiful lake /clubhouse area. Super people running the place and of course other campers were so helpful. We took our 2 dogs and would have loved a little more grass for their paws as the entire camping area is rough gravel. We’re hoping for a dog park in the future....? The lake has many easy entrances for swimmers near the club house - broad steps or large boulder for the more adventurous. Can be a bit slippery tho so bring your water shoes. Kids seemed to have little problem. Saturday night there was live music. Just a single guy with a guitar but great choice of music and great singing voice. Had a great 2 days. We plan to come back.

St. Louis West / Historic Route 66 KOA

Good location for exploring St. Louis

This campground is fairly close to downtown and very close to lots of shopping. A great place to stay to stock up on supplies before heading west. We stayed 2 nights to have a day to visit the Gateway Arch. The pool and playground seemed nice even though we didn’t use them. Nice dog park for smaller dogs. Several cabins are available along with RV sites. The tent sites are next to a river under large trees. Plenty of spaces for big rigs. Our site was no very level but nothing our auto-leveling couldn’t handle.

      KOA in Eureka, MO

Nice, clean campground, level pull-through sites - ours had a paver-patio and grill, a lot of shade throughout, dog park, and a creek to explore. This was our 2nd time here. Close to Saint Louis, Six Flags, and hiking.

      St. Francois State Park Campground

      St. Francois

We had a beautiful campsite with soft grassy ground. We did have a mole or something burrowing around so you had to watch for loose dirt clods but that was NBD. The site had a picnic table and fire ring. There were pit toilets, no showers. Spigots throughout the area. Within walking distance of the river and trail access. Beautiful hiking on the bluffs above the river. The hosts were really friendly. There was also a very cute and very friendly kitty running around the area hunting grasshoppers. He hung out for some pets and cuddles then wandered off for some more adventure. I kind of want to be that cat. ^_^

      St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park

      Convenient to St. Charles

Easy off I-370, campground is new and large. It is on a lake with bike trails, kayak rental, and kids splash pad. Staff were helpful. I received about 5 pieces of paper when checking in. You need a code to get into the dog park. Shopping nearby. Used this as a base to visit historic St Charles.

LEDLENDSER MH10 and KOA Route 66 review

      Campground review:

Once googling local campsites at the last minute for a weekend getaway with both dogs, we came route 66 campground. They have a dog park, rv hookup sites, electric tent sites and primitive sites. We stayed at a primitive tent site with both dogs. Site t13, which unfortunately was one of the very few camp spots with zero trees so we're unable to use our hammock. (Most of the other sites had great trees for hammock setups). Other amenities on the campground included a heated pool, bike rentals, basketball courts, a country store for firewood, supplies, and gift shop. Needless to say this was not a "roughing" it type campground. For the dogs though, we were right across from the creek to take them down to play. Also, kids were catching crawdads! Great campsite that is pet friendly and very family friendly!

      Product review:

      Ledlenser mh10

This headlamp first of all comes with a 7 year warrantly(must register the product)! On top of that all these features: a rechargeable battery with a USB port. Rapid focus system with 2 tough button on headlamp to adjust lighting. The strap is very easy to adjust and fit to comfort, lightweight despise the battery pack attached to the headlamp. The lighting is phenomenal! You also get a green and red additional glass lense that you can screw into the front of your lense for any activity and not disturb others with a bright white light. Me, howsoever, I was able to on this camping trip, use the headlamp to continue to play a game of cornhole... and winter, might I add.. thanks to my headlamp for optimal vision;). Included are some pictures of how bright and fitting the headlamp is. I was highly impressed! Never once did it slip... which I have struggled with in many headlamps that it seems the lamp is too heavy and slowly makes its way down your forehead. The Ledlenser stays in place and is very comfortable! Also, doesn't leave that weird band line on your head... at least I didn't experience it like I have on others. Very impressed overall!

    Guide to Glencoe

Camping areas near Glencoe, Missouri sit within the rolling Ozark foothills at elevations between 500-700 feet. The region experiences four distinct seasons with humid summers and mild winters, making spring and fall the most comfortable for tent camping. Most campgrounds in this area are within a 20-minute drive of Glencoe and offer varying levels of shade and terrain depending on their proximity to the Meramec River watershed.

    What to do

Kayaking access points: The Meramec River provides multiple put-in locations near Robertsville State Park. "The camp sites are very quiet, very family friendly park. On site restrooms, hiking trails, and a small lake with overlooking bluffs," notes Lindsey R., who found the riverfront setting perfect for paddling.

Winery tours: Augusta wine country sits minutes from Klondike Park, offering day trips to local vineyards. "This Campground places you in the heart of Missouri Wine Country and there's a perfect base for visiting the wineries and restaurants along highway 94," according to Marty C., who used the park as a base for wine tasting.

Katy Trail biking: The 240-mile Katy Trail passes directly through several campgrounds in the region. "I have bike-packed along the Katy and this is an excellent spot for an overnight(s) stay. It is a tough, but short, climb from the trail," explains Mike L. about accessing camping from the popular rail-trail.

Fishing opportunities: Several parks feature stocked ponds with accessible shorelines. "Great fishing pond by the campground," mentions Annie C. about the fishing at Robertsville State Park, where catfish and bass can be caught without a boat.

    What campers like

Secluded sites: Away from highway noise, certain areas offer privacy despite being close to St. Louis. "Sites like #19 and 20 were more secluded, offered more trees and privacy," notes Shawn M. at St. Charles County Klondike Park, highlighting the variation in site privacy.

Clean facilities: Many reviewers mention well-maintained bathhouses as a highlight. "Shower house was disappointingly dirty for as new as it was, but it was a busy holiday weekend," explains Annie C., suggesting that facilities are generally well-kept outside peak periods.

Wildlife viewing: The confluence of forest and river environments creates habitat for diverse wildlife. "You can see all kinds of wildlife in and around the lake- deer, bald eagles, pelicans, ducks, snakes," observes Annie C. about the ecosystem diversity at lakeside campgrounds.

Pet-friendly camping flexibility: Most campgrounds welcome pets with reasonable restrictions. "Did a 2 night tent camp with my family and it was awesome. We had a great time on the trails and near the Mighty Missouri River," says Greg E. about his family's experience with pets at Klondike Park.

    What you should know

Seasonal closures: Some campgrounds reduce services during winter. "We stayed here last minute for Labor Day Weekend and the staff were great with finding us a good tent site available," explains Lindsey R. at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Resort At Six Flags, which operates primarily April through October.

Flooding concerns: Low-lying areas experience seasonal flooding, particularly in spring. "Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they were not so keen on having tent campers. But they were very nice and gave me the general lowdown on this 'in the city' campground," mentions Lucas M., who noted that Greensfelder had flood damage the previous year.

Reservation requirements: Many campgrounds fill quickly, especially weekend dates. "Reservations are required and the sites are in high demand. Tent camping only. There is water available in the park," points out Marty C. about St. Charles County Klondike Park's popularity.

Highway noise variance: Proximity to Interstate 44 affects some campgrounds more than others. "I did not settle well, and the night was a bit odd. Keep in mind that I was here alone and during the middle of the week so, chances are, during the weekend you might not have the same experience," explains Lucas M. about the ambient noise at some sites.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground proximity: Select sites near recreational facilities for convenience with children. "Kids had a blast riding bikes. Even finding a few little frogs jumping around and fireflies at night," says Joseph F. about his family's experience at St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park, which features multiple play areas.

Seasonal activities calendar: Many parks offer structured family programming certain weekends. "This is a nice little park on the Meramec River with about 25 campsites split fairly evenly between tent and electric hook up in a long loop," mentions Annie C., who recommends checking event calendars when planning visits.

Water safety considerations: Lakes and rivers require supervision for young campers. "There is a sandy beach area surrounding the water, making it a great place either lay in the sun or to go fishing," notes Alisha M. about the family-friendly water access at Klondike Park.

Raccoon awareness: Food storage precautions are essential with children. "Make sure to store your food securely overnight - the racoons are pretty thick and hungry at night," warns Mike L., who encountered persistent wildlife while camping at St. Charles County Klondike Park.

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: Uneven terrain may require extra equipment at certain parks. "This is a nice quiet campground but the lots are pretty uneven so make sure you bring plenty of cribbing," advises Montt B. about Robertsville State Park Campground, where the natural topography creates sloping sites.

Power availability variations: Amp service differs significantly between parks. "Only sites 20-29 have electric and 28 can't be reserved," details Matthew H., who discovered specific power limitations at Greensfelder County Park during his visit.

Water hookup distances: Some sites require lengthy hoses to reach water connections. "Our water hook up and electric hookup was significantly far apart," notes GW C., suggesting RVers come prepared with extension equipment.

Dump station locations: Not all campgrounds offer on-site dump facilities. "No dump but KOA and RV dealer 5-7 mins away," mentions Matthew H., highlighting the importance of planning waste disposal when camping near Glencoe with larger rigs.
