Best Campgrounds near Moss Point, MS

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

The Moss Point area of Mississippi features several established campgrounds with a mix of tent and RV accommodations. Presley's Outing provides waterfront sites along with boat access and amenities like showers and electric hookups, while Indian Point RV Resort offers cabin options alongside traditional campsites. Shepard State Park Campground, located in nearby Gautier, provides more natural surroundings with wooded sites and hiking trails. Most campgrounds in this coastal region maintain year-round operations, though summer brings higher occupancy rates.

Campground amenities vary significantly throughout the region. Full-service RV parks like Santa Maria RV Park and The Cozy Rosy RV Resort provide comprehensive hookups including water, electric, and sewer connections, while state park options offer more basic facilities. Most developed campgrounds feature bathhouses with showers, though quality varies between locations. Sites typically include picnic tables and fire rings, and many campgrounds allow pets. A camper at Shepard State Park noted, "The primitive campsite was very nice. Even though the park was a bit crowded we still had privacy. The dog park was perfect for our two large dogs, very clean."

Several mixed-use campgrounds in the area accommodate both tent campers and RVs, with some offering specialized cabins or yurts. Davis Bayou Campground in the Gulf Islands National Seashore and Shepard State Park provide natural settings with hiking trails and water access. Many RV parks in the region serve both short-term travelers and long-term residents. According to a review, "Due to an emergency we made last minute reservations and Indian Point was very accommodating and helpful." Waterfront access represents a significant draw for many campgrounds in the area, with facilities like Presley's Outing featuring both swimming areas and boat launches. Travelers seeking more secluded experiences can find primitive camping areas at Shepard State Park, which offers less developed sites near trailheads for a more nature-immersed experience.

    Shepard State Park Campground

    Great place

We have stayed here on at least two occasions. There are numerous trails, almost all sites are heavily shaded and it’s very peaceful. The sites are not on top of each other for the most part. We stayed at site 24 on the last trip. It was challenging to back into this site with a 34’ travel trailer but we finally prevailed. Other sites appeared easier to access. The staff is wonderful and very helpful.

Pelican Nest RV Resort & Campground

    Great little RV park

Pelican nest is a smaller RV park. We visited in the off season (late October) and the weather was beautiful. The owners were very nice and the spaces were a good size and clean. Water, electric and sewer hookups were well maintained. Getting in was super easy and they have a few pull through spaces as well as back in. It is in close proximity to a few really good restaurants and a nice wine shop/restaurant. Beach is a nice 1/2 mile walk with a boardwalk for most of the way.

    Gulfport KOA Holliday

    Beautiful Facility

Stayed here for 1 night after NP campground closed duty to Government shutdown. Only issue is the tent sites are gravelled with concrete underneath. Kinda. impossible to stake a tent. For one night nor a big problem a longer stay would require an alternative way to stake your tent

Beautiful large park with pool, hot tub, laundry and bathhouse with showers Interesting Buddha buffet served on Sundays next door at a monastery. WiFi is horrible We road a tornado out here, glad we were placed in spot we were in as trailer next to us blocked the wind

    Blakeley State Park Campground

    Hidden Spot Close to Mobile

We stayed at spot RV Spot 2. It was a pull through spot and easy to get into. The spot was somewhat flat but we had to maneuver to get even and then still needed leveling blocks. It was very quiet at night with barely any lights. The cell service was pretty good since it close to town. We didn't stay for long, but the historic park was nice to check out and the sunset at the water was beautiful. Overall the campground was great, good amenities, very quiet, lots to see, and close to Mobile and Daphne.
