Spread out over 626 acres with over three miles of shoreline, the campground has three distinct areas to choose from: East Bay: Inland sites. Electric & Water Hookup sites are here, as well as some of our most private tent sites. Sites 2-56 are shady, and sites 60-70 are in a more open area. This is the closest area to the Camp Store, showers and Snack Shack. Middle Bay: Tents only area. Forested and shady, Middle Bay gives the feeling of being deep in the woods, yet with many waterfront sites. West Bay: Tents and RVs welcome (no hook-ups). West Bay has tall trees along the water line, and open fields and pasture. This area is particularly suited to kids, as it hosts the playground and recreation field. This area was recently improved with our new shower building.

Hermit Island Campground is a family-oriented seasonal campground located on a 255 acre peninsula in Small Point at the southern tip of Phippsburg. The campground is accessed by a right-of-way which goes across a sand causeway. Hermit Island is roughly 1.5 miles long and .5 miles wide at the widest point. Most of the campsites are on the southern end of the island. The northern end has several beaches, hiking trails, and a small marina and wharf. Campsites & Cabins Our 270 campsites are located near sandy beaches, on rocky cliffs, along the tidal harbor, and in the forested interior. Each campsite has a picnic table, a loose rock fire ring, and parking for one car. Campsites fall into 4 categories depending on how close to the ocean they are and whether they have a water view or direct beach access. Ocean Prime sites have an ocean view and/or beach access. Prime sites are close to the ocean or beach and may have a partial view. Choice sites are not as close to the ocean as Prime sites, but are closer than Value sites. Many Choice sites are on the harbor side of the campground and have water views and/or access to the harbor directly from the campsite. Value sites are located within the wooded interior of the island and are farthest from the harbor and ocean. We also rent 3 small cabins - The Hermit Island Cottage, the Log Cabin, and the Sou'wester.

    Great Community Park

This is a great campsite. So many amenities that work. Great sense of community. Overly friendly people at the front desk that are accommodating. The spaces are very close to each other. The Wi-Fi does not work very well (WFH employees trying to see the world). Other than the Wi-Fi, everything exceeded our expectations.

    Best campground on earth!

This is my favorite campground by a mile! The people here are so friendly and accommodating, the campground facilities are clean and well kept, the kids activities are top notch, and the free trolly to Old Orchard Beach and Pine Point Beach is so convenient and the drivers are AMAZING. The nightly entertainment is also outstanding, especially the hypnotist. There are three nice pools, several playgrounds, two stores, a mini golf course, several ponds for fishing, and a really great restaurant with a huge selection of foods and decent prices. There’s also an adult pool with its own bar and restaurant that’s also very good! They serve a yummy brunch too. I really can’t say enough about Bayley’s. We travel 9.5 hours to come here each year and when we arrive, it simply feels like home. Old Orchard Beach is beautiful and is just a 5 minute trolly ride away. Just come! And don’t forget to bring your boogie boards!!

    Thousand Trails Moody Beach

Nice for one or two nights

The 30 amp sites are very close together.

The campground layout is quite unusual, with campers parked lengthwise along the road. This means that you share the space where you sit outside with the camper behind you, resulting in very little privacy. It feels cramped, and you’re constantly close to your neighbors. If you’re looking for a peaceful, secluded camping experience, this setup might not be ideal.

The facilities are ok but dated and could be cleaner. The beach is a short 15-minute walk.

For children, there is a swimming pool, a basketball court and a small playground

All in all, this is a good campground if you are on the road and want to spend a night or two exploring the area.

    Electrical Issues

I value the reviews left here, so I felt I needed to leave an honest review in hopes it will help someone else. We stayed here for almost 2 weeks. During that time there was a sewage smell near the bathhouse. The sites are not level and most are not shaded or very wide. We also had brown water and were extremely thankful for our multiple water filters. We paid for a 30 amp service, but had low voltage the entirety of our stay. The solution that was proposed, was that we remove our Watchdog EMS and Surge protector. We decided to keep our Watchdog on. They had several campsites on the same breaker, something we have never seen at any campground in our 3 years of travel. On our last day, we didn't even have enough voltage to keep fans running inside our RV. Please be aware that low voltage seems to be an ongoing problem as an RV behind us had an electrical cord burn up while we were there.

    Quiet campground on Scarborough Marsh

We stayed for 3 nights in late July.   The campground is peaceful and quiet, with the sounds of birds and the trees being the main thing you hear - it is quite relaxing.   The trees are quite tall and create a lovely canopy overhead.   There is some road traffic noise, but it’s minimal.  The sites that face the marsh are the best sites - they have some grass and lovely views.  We were in site 5, which faces the woods and was dirt.  It had a slight bump in it which made hooking and unhooking our travel trailer a little difficult.   The sites are close together, and do not have any foliage buffers between them.  The bathrooms were very clean.   The people we met who worked at the camp were friendly and helpful.   It is within a mile of the Audubon center, where you can either put in your own kayak/canoe or rent one.   The Eastern Trail is 1.3 miles away,  and good for walking, running or gravel biking.

    Warning. Horrible experience.

There are no sewer hookups(which is fine) but you are only allowed ONE use at dump station upon leaving the campground. I arrived with a 1/3 tanks and wanted to dump on way into park because I was staying 3 days/nights and they said ok but you can’t dump on the way out(seriously?). I asked if I could pay for a second dump and it was$30. I’ll never go back.

    Great Staff, Nice Sites

We were greeted with the most amazing, kind and service oriented staff! Just wonderful to see these days. Our site was a pull through and it was wooded and flattish. Some rocks on boulders, but we fit in fine. We were right next to a tenting site. Kind of close, but we managed to put the back of the RV toward their site. It is dog friendly!!! Lots of things to do on grounds and around this area. We had a great time. Plus, they have nice hot showers for free. No quarters here! lol In short, we loved our time here.

    It was just ok.

It was an ok experience. We don’t like the campsites being sideways or parallel to the road, it feels strange. Bathrooms were down for cleaning but when they opened they smelled of bleach and still had gobs of hair in the drains of multiple shower stalls.

    Great Stopover for Maine Hotspots

I was on a long road trip and only stayed a few days mainly to see the nearby Maine hotspots - Kennebunkport and Portland. The campground is not fancy, but clean and well maintained. Many of the sites were used by long-term campers, which turns the campground into a nice little neighborhood - everyone I greeted waved or said hello. I travel solo, and felt very safe.

    Big and Friendly campground

This campground is pretty big, sprawled out with lots to do, like tubing, cornhole, arcade, pools with slide and more. Customers service was great both at check in as well as later when getting wood delivered. Sites are descent and bathrooms are nice and modern. I would recommend this campground to my friends and family and will come back.

Consider Thousand Trails Membership for Better Value

Consider the Thousand Trails membership when booking this site. Our annual membership fees basically covered what it would cost to camp here for two weeks.

The campground has good proximity to Orchard Beach and Portland. However, the spots are pretty tight, and the WiFi is awful away from the registration office. We were in the wooded area, but those camping on the outskirts seemed able to utilize their Starlink.

The dog park and pool were small but nice. The bathroom facilities were pretty good, though they weren't cleaned as often as they should be.

We have stayed at Wild Acres both before and after Sun Outdoors acquired it. We have had a great time each time we stay.

It is resort camping with all of the amenities, pool, hot tub, mini golf, adults only area, group fire ring and more. We love going in the fall to enjoy the leaves and sit in the hot tubs. The location is close to OOB and easy to get around.

    Two Lakes Camping

    Typical Campground

We had a few sites scattered over the campground for the weekend and had an overall...interesting time. We live relatively close and have been here a few times, each time has been mid.

Getting into your site with a camper requires maneuvering no matter how you come into the campground. We had a few sites higher up in the campground and had a tent site right on the water near the "boat ramp".

I try not to judge a campground based on the people around you because you literally cannot control that. The beach had flooded the weekend that we were there, leaving the only beach area available the spot...in our site. A HUGE group of people set up camp IN OUR SITE. It left a really bad imprint on the weekend and I won't be returning.

The campground itself is average, wooded sites with a camp store, field area, small beach and basic amenities.

    Bayley's Camping Resort

    RV Resort

We have stayed at Bayley's a lot over the years and have watched it grow into an RV Resort.

If you're looking for all the bells and whistles, full amenities and location to town this is it. I saw a few other reviews noting the noise levels, I think this comes with the territory of staying at an RV Resort. It is family friendly, kids ride their bikes around the campground and you can hear your neighbors.

Depending on your site location you may get more privacy than if you stay in the big rig sites. The wooded sites tend to be more private and less loud. Staying by any of the pools will be louder. The adults only area can get loud in the summer with music during the day.

We stay on the event weekends, rent a golf cart and sit in the hot tubs for the duration of our stay and it couldn't be better.
