    Prizer Point Marina & Resort

    No Yogi

Prizer Point KOA and Marina is your basic camp away from home with all those modern conveniences.

Water all around (peninsula) so water sports of course. A swimming pool, playground, bouncy/jumpy thing, pedal car area, dog park, the list goes on.

The Rv style sites were very well situated on the water side loop, realize there is not much privacy. The primitive camp area looked a little frolorn and long in the grass, plus it is a walk to entertainment and the water. There is new construction going on, so reservation maybe easier to get. And there you are , Reserve ahead for prime locations, they are booked through August on the weekends.

    Piney Campground

    Nice!

Nice campground. Clean, pet friendly. A lot of sites! Access to lakes. Saw a lot of wildlife for such a big campground with lots of people traffic.

    Okay for a Short Stay

The campground(CG) is easy to get to off I-24. We checked in and proceeded unescorted to site 22 with FHUs. The utilities are centered on the gravel pad and it was nice to have two sewer holes as our rig has two black tanks. We needed to flush each tank well, as we were heading to our home base near St. Louis. The water pressure was good at 50 psi and we got 3 bars 5G. There are a lot of mature trees so satellite may be iffy. We did not put out our Starlink for this one-night stay. Their free WiFi was okay. They accommodate both short stays, transient workers, and permanent parties. Not sure we’d call this place a“resort,” but they do have a small dog park, pool, laundry, dump station, and propane fills. This was our second time overnighting at this park. The first time we were closer to the interstate and this time we were at the front of the CG. It did not matter as this CG has the most interstate noise of any we’ve stayed.

    Dad's Bluegrass Campground

Very nice place right off the highway

While visiting family in Scottsville we were in need of a close by RV park for our 40’ rig. This was the perfect spot for us. With plenty of pull through sites we were able to pick from (since we came early due to forgetting the time change!) The park is very well maintained, the owner was very accommodating and helpful, especially since we had to add an extra night last minute! There is a beautiful pool, playground and basketball court for kids! The place is also pet friendly. There was a cute area inside with a TV, dvds, and books to read or take one and leave one. Also a laundry area inside. Definitely recommend staying here if you’re in the area! It’s also fairly close to Nashville and bowling green!

Grand Ole RV Resort & Market

Peaceful, Well-Run RV Park with Great Location

We really enjoyed our stay at The Grand O RV Resort! The staff was super friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. A man even led us to our site in a golf cart and helped my fiancé back in and park our trailer, which was a huge help.

The campground had a small store with supplies, a restaurant with a menu available (though we cooked our own food), and live music each night while we were there during the summer — a nice touch! There’s a train that passes by on the nearby track a couple of times a day, but it was never super early or late and didn’t bother us at all.

We stayed in the center of the park, which didn’t have much shade, but the outer edge sites seemed more wooded. The roads and campsites are made of small pebbles, which made it easy to drive and back in. It was overall very quiet, and the location is great — just off the interstate, about 10 miles north of Nashville, and roughly 45 minutes from Bowling Green. We visited the National Corvette Museum and Lost River Cave while we were there.

Our site had full hookups (water, sewer, and electric). The bathhouse was clean, air-conditioned, and accessed with a key code — two toilet stalls and three showers for women, all very well maintained. We didn’t use the laundry facility (if there was one), but the Wi-Fi was decent, and T-Mobile cell service worked well, even for using our hotspot. It’s a pet-friendly park (though we didn’t bring pets), and while there’s no pool or playground, there were some nice wooden swings to enjoy.

They also have firewood for sale and a propane filling station on site. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend The Grand O to anyone looking for a quiet, clean, and well-located RV park near Nashville!

    Fenton Lake Access - DFWR

Lake Access Only, not the Campground

Fenton Campground and Lake access are in the same general location, but are actually separate. The ramp, floating dock and dike that allows access to Kentucky Lake is a favorite among locals, as it puts you about mid lake (N-S), and Kentucky Lake has some of the cleanest waters and the largest fish of any place. This area is always busy, 24/7, pretty much year round. There is a vault toilet, the campground is just east a bit, there is plenty of parking for trucks and trailers. The new Fenton bridge is a four lane bridge, with a walking/bike path that is a start/end point for the Hardwoods Trail, which goes east-west across Land Between the Lakes.

    Hurricane Creek

    Me likely..

Hurricane Creek is off of Rt 274 in Kentucky on the east side of Land Between The Lakes.

The campground is tucked away in its own little area with lots of shade trees and it's very own boat ramp. The sites are close but not stacked on top of each other.

the RV sites are both next to and near the water. You can park your water craft nearby. There are also several sites up in the trees, some back in, some pull through. It is an older area so the pavement is not all flat and pretty.

The tent sites are walk in, from the boat ramp parking area. Shaded and accessorized with tables, and fire rings. There were a few that tree tents would work well on.

The shower house is a little bit of a walk, but centrally located for the entire campground.

Overall a nice , quiet area, I will definitely be back.

    Lock A

Quiet Peaceful Campground by Cheatam Lake & Dam

We loved our site 32 which was fully shaded all day long which was great in August given the heat and humidity. We hiked the Bicentennial Trail (13.3 miles long from start to finish) which was also shaded and with geocaches. We went with our 2 dogs and 2 kids. The boys loved the playground and the dogs appreciated the cool breeze and shade of our site. We were close to the boat ramp which made access to the water easy. There is a nearby lock and dam with another playground in walking distance. We had a fire ring, a wooden picnic table, a concrete picnic table and chairs as well as a grill. Folks were quiet and friendly. I would highly recommend it and would visit again.

Guide to Oak Grove

Camping options near Oak Grove, Kentucky include a mix of state park campgrounds and privately owned facilities within an hour's drive. The region features typical Cumberland Plateau terrain with rolling hills and moderate elevation changes between 400-700 feet. Summer camping often contends with high humidity levels and temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F, particularly during July and August.

What to do

Hiking trails access: Montgomery Bell State Park Campground offers extensive trail systems for various skill levels. "The park has tons of activities and good hiking trails. If you want some good catfish. Go visit the catfish kitchen just down the road from the park," notes Tammy P.

Fishing opportunities: Lock A campground provides direct access to the Cumberland River for fishing and boating. "Fun to watch the river barges go by and fish. One boat ramp directly in the campground," explains Abby C., who adds that "deer, blue herons, and squirrels are abundant" for wildlife watchers.

Waterfront recreation: Bumpus Mills features lakeside camping with water-based activities. "Hard to choose a site just because they were all so nice on a small hill overlooking the water. Nice campground but plan to spend most of your time on the water or at another park or whatever nearby," recommends Kim B.

What campers like

Spacious sites: RJourney Clarksville RV Resort receives praise for its layout. "Sites were large and level," reports Drew S., while Roy T. notes, "Pull through sites were long enough for our truck & camper so we didn't have to unhitch for one night. Sites were not all jammed together."

Quiet settings: Spring Creek Campground offers a peaceful atmosphere. "Nice peaceful camp ground. Clean and well maintained. Can hear some road noise but generally quiet. The creek is nice and calm," according to Nicholas H., who found the natural setting relaxing despite minor traffic sounds.

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention well-maintained bathrooms at most area campgrounds. "Bathrooms were clean. Grounds were well maintained. Staff was friendly," observed Roy T. about RJourney Clarksville RV Resort, reflecting similar comments about other nearby facilities.

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Many campgrounds in the region have limited availability during winter months. "This campground closes the first week of September," warns Joy W. about Bumpus Mills, while Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park operates from April 1 to October 31.

Site levelness concerns: Lake Barkley State Resort Park campsites often require significant leveling. "Pads are not level. Saw a class A that had front wheels 10" off the ground and a TT with the hitch on the ground," reports Barry B., while Cheyanne S. advises to "bring quite a bit of leveling materials as the sites are very unlevel."

Limited connectivity: Cell service can be spotty throughout the region. One reviewer notes about Bumpus Mills: "There is little or NO cell service and no broadcast TV channels in range. Bring DVD's in case it rains."

Tips for camping with families

Wildlife viewing areas: Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park offers numerous wildlife encounters. "We even saw a bald eagle within 15 minutes drive from the park," reports Nicole P., who recommends the area for its biodiversity.

Budget-friendly options: Several dog friendly campgrounds near Oak Grove maintain reasonable rates. "Senior Pass $12/night. Wide, level campsite on the water. Very nice and well kept," shares Arthur P. about Lock A, making it an economical choice for families.

Recreational facilities: Family-centered amenities vary across locations. "Lake Barkley State Park offers so many activities and is right on the edge of Land Between The Lakes that I have been going to both for years and still not gotten to all of the sites available," recommends Shelly S.

Tips from RVers

Utility placement: Several campgrounds have unusual utility hookup placements. At Lake Barkley, one reviewer advises to "bring extension cords and hoses as the utilities are positioned in between two sites," a setup echoed at other nearby facilities.

Size restrictions: Be aware of access limitations at smaller campgrounds. "The roads are NARROW and tree-lined, so I don't recommend any rig over 30'" cautions Jody A. about Bumpus Mills, making advance research crucial for larger rigs.

Electric service variations: Most dog friendly campgrounds near Oak Grove provide multiple electric options. Kerry M. found RJourney Clarksville completely level with "enough lighting for comfort, but not so much it doesn't feel like night," though notes the early morning noise from nearby construction.
