Best RV Parks & Resorts near Oak Grove, KY

Several RV parks near Oak Grove accommodate motorhomes and travel trailers with varying hookup options and site dimensions. RJourney Clarksville RV Resort provides 67 pull-through sites with full hookups including 30/50-amp service, operating year-round with gravel pads suitable for larger rigs. Grand Ole RV Resort offers both 50-amp connections and sewer hookups on small pebble surfaces. "The roads and campsites are made of small pebbles, which made it easy to drive and back in," noted one visitor about Grand Ole. Nearby Russellville RV Park features 28 sites with electric, sewer, and water hookups but lacks amenities like showers or toilet facilities, while Eagles Nest RV Park provides concrete pads with full hookups and cable TV connections.

Interstate noise affects several campgrounds, particularly those along I-24 where sound can be magnified in valley locations. Most parks accept advance reservations, with weekend availability becoming limited during peak seasons. Cell service varies by location, with Verizon typically providing 3-4 bars at most parks while WiFi quality ranges from "decent" to "average." Pet-friendly policies are common, though designated dog areas vary in size and terrain. Several parks offer on-site propane filling stations, laundry facilities, and dump stations. During winter months, some amenities close at seasonal parks, particularly those near Lake Barkley where rates may remain high despite reduced services. One camper noted, "The campground sits on three levels overlooking Lake Barkly. There are only 5 pull-thru sites with full hookups on wide open ground, no shade."

Grand Ole RV Resort & Market

Peaceful, Well-Run RV Park with Great Location

We really enjoyed our stay at The Grand O RV Resort! The staff was super friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. A man even led us to our site in a golf cart and helped my fiancé back in and park our trailer, which was a huge help.

The campground had a small store with supplies, a restaurant with a menu available (though we cooked our own food), and live music each night while we were there during the summer — a nice touch! There’s a train that passes by on the nearby track a couple of times a day, but it was never super early or late and didn’t bother us at all.

We stayed in the center of the park, which didn’t have much shade, but the outer edge sites seemed more wooded. The roads and campsites are made of small pebbles, which made it easy to drive and back in. It was overall very quiet, and the location is great — just off the interstate, about 10 miles north of Nashville, and roughly 45 minutes from Bowling Green. We visited the National Corvette Museum and Lost River Cave while we were there.

Our site had full hookups (water, sewer, and electric). The bathhouse was clean, air-conditioned, and accessed with a key code — two toilet stalls and three showers for women, all very well maintained. We didn’t use the laundry facility (if there was one), but the Wi-Fi was decent, and T-Mobile cell service worked well, even for using our hotspot. It’s a pet-friendly park (though we didn’t bring pets), and while there’s no pool or playground, there were some nice wooden swings to enjoy.

They also have firewood for sale and a propane filling station on site. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend The Grand O to anyone looking for a quiet, clean, and well-located RV park near Nashville!

    Tanbark Campground

    Very Nice Overnight Stay

We stayed one night. It was very nice. Cash or check only. Veteran and other discounts. Inexpensive. Check in after 12:00 Check out 11:00. Pull through full hookup 30/50A service. Fast friendly check in. Some sites gravel, some asphalt. Older building for restrooms and laundry, but meticulously maintained. Level enough that I didn't unhook, just lowered jacks for stabilization. I don't see where the complaints about space come from. All of the tight spaces are taken by full time residents. We had more than enough room for a 36' 5th wheel with 3 slideouts, a cargo carrier on the back, tow vehicle (which I didn't have to unhook) and a second vehicle. We could have fit another car if needed. The person behind us parked his truck between his rig and ours. In front was a fire ring on a 12' wide patch of grass. There are full time residents here, but most of the rigs look a lot nicer than other places we've seen. Beautiful area. Was surprised how low the road noise is being so close to an interstate. We wouldn't even hear it if our door was shut. Very quiet. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you for recognizing veterans and offering a discount.

    Eddy Creek Marina Resort

    A Resort RV park

Eddy creek RV park is very well kept, clean, and somewhat secluded on Lake Barkley. Only open from April through Oct, the RV camp area is behind a code locked gate, which helps to keep the park private. There is a dump station, laundry facility, bath house , propane available and Echo Charlie's restaurant that serves typical American food that includes large servings!  I didn't see any tent sites, only RV sites, most with newer looking decks, level sites, electric and water hookup to each site.  The beach is private, the pool is private, everything is within walking distance, but most people were using golf carts, as it is a good distance from the RV area to the restaurant or the pool.  Bicycling would also be ideal, most areas are paved or at least compacted gravel.

    Nashville North

    City Outskirts campground

Nice little spot, freeway right behind the park and can hear cars all day/night. Internet was down when we got here and cell signal is hit and miss on all 3 Carriers (Verizon, AT&T and T-mobile). Delivery of anything is challenging for the drivers for some reason. Overall the facility it self is up-kept and clean. Good place for short term but look for better long term options.

    Hillman Ferry Campground

    Clean and Rustic

The best part of this campground is the beautiful rustic old timey feel. There are updated modern bathhouses dispersed throughout. The camp store is well stocked. There is a very nice boat ramp and several boat parking areas. “T” area is our favorite with full hookups and beautiful pine trees. A premier and amazing mountain bike trail system is accessible directly from campground!! The Canal Loop Trail and North South Trails are well known and revered by area mountain bikers and hikers. No WiFi or internet service. Cell signal in prior years have been spotty. Very family friendly and lots of kids riding bikes and playing everywhere!

    Canal Campground- Lake Barkley COE

    And then some.....

Canal Recreation Area is right by Grand Rivers, Ky and Patti's Settlement. That right there is enough said as far as outdoor activities go. Then you have Canal Rec Area that just adds too the vacation.

Book early because the best sites stay full, but really they are all pretty good sites. The different areas cover just about anything you are looking for in a site from big rig pull through sites, tiered tent sites, water and beach access sites and boat ramp sites.

There is a trail within the campground to walk, a day use area, newer showerhouse/laundry facilities and dump stations. The area is large enough to jog, bike and golf cart. If your not interested in the nearby entertainment there is enough to do right on site to keep you occupied for your entire vacation be it a day or a week+

    Indian Point RV Park

    Overnight only

The campground sits on three level overlooking Lake Barkly. There are only 5 pull-thru sites with full hookups on wide open ground, no shade. There are 16 water and electric sites. The 150+ sites are long term rental properties. There is a swimming pool, play ground, boat ramp, and game room. Dump site at entrance. More a retirement community than a RV camp.

    Eagles Nest RV Park

The nicest RV Park in Buchanan, TN

Eagle’s Nest RV Park is a hidden gem right next to Kentucky Lake and Paris Landing. It has all concrete pads with full service utility kiosks. Each campsite has plenty of room and comes with its own patio and cable TV connection. The park has a laundry room and shower / bathroom for park guests. Nearby convenience stores have firewood, propane, and anything you might need. The main attractions nearby are KY Lake, Land Between The Lakes, Paris Landing State Park and the Big Sandy National Wildlife Refuge.

    Redd Hollow

Tent and Small Camper Camping, Basic Sites

Well kept campground offering a more basic camping experience as compared to the larger campgrounds at LBL. Gravel pads with concrete picnic tables and fire rings. Be mindful when picking a site that some of the fire rings are damaged, some are the older short (12" tall tops) style and still others are brand new and have the adjustable cooking grate.

The actual gravel pads that we saw were for the most part in good shape. One or two sites suffered a bit from heavy wash running across them and rutting or washing gravel off the pads.

About half the sites are on the left hand side when you drive in and you can pick from sites tucked back in the woods a bit or sites nearer the water. Farther into the campground the road passes the vault toilet and boat ramp and goes uphill to higher up sites still. Sites in the woods with a longer walk to the lake but potentially better views and breezes.

We found that campers here did not limit themselves to staying on the defined tent pads. They would park on the pads and set up tents around the true camp site. Not a super big deal but it made getting down to the water a little awkward because you had to walk a little too close to someone else's tent for my liking.

The Forest Service could stand to go in and add some of the timber framing or bigger rip-rap bordering around the sites and maybe a splash of the smaller sized gravel to help level out the pads. You do need watch to make sure you get a level site.

If there are say 30 sites here, only about 15 were occupied over Labor Day weekend. Way less than what we expected for a holiday but it was exactly what we were hoping for, avoid the crowds at the larger, more amenity-filled campgrounds.

Last thing regarding the lake. The back end of Redd Hollow is shallow. Nice place to wade for kids. However, when they start pulling the lake down what were water access sites become gravel and mud bar access sites. In the dead middle of the summer the back end of the cove is probably full of water. Early spring and late summer early fall it is not. I suspect you can use the boat ramp year round though.

Guide to Oak Grove

RV camping near Oak Grove, Kentucky offers convenient access to Kentucky Lake and Land Between the Lakes recreational areas. The region contains several campgrounds within a 45-minute drive of Oak Grove, with varying levels of amenities and seasonal availability. Winter temperatures in the area can drop below freezing, with summer highs regularly exceeding 90°F, making spring and fall popular camping seasons.

What to do

Wildlife viewing at Land Between the Lakes: Located about 45 minutes from rv sites near Oak Grove, Kentucky, Birmingham Point Campground provides a strategic location for wildlife enthusiasts. "We enjoyed the lake view from our site plus we saw deer and eagles in the CG during our overnight stay," shares one camper at Birmingham Point Campground.

Fishing excursions: Many campgrounds offer convenient water access for anglers. "Eagle's Nest RV Park is a little slice of heaven located just 1500 feet from Kentucky Lake and 10 minutes from Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. The park is clean and well maintained and offers free boat parking," notes a reviewer of Eagles Nest RV Park.

Live music entertainment: Several RV parks near Oak Grove feature regular performances. "Live music every night was nice," reports a camper from Grand Ole RV Resort & Market, which offers nightly entertainment during summer months.

What campers like

Assistance with parking: Multiple RV parks provide staff guidance for site setup. "A man even led us to our site in a golf cart and helped my fiancé back in and park our trailer, which was a huge help," mentions a visitor at Grand Ole RV Resort. Similarly, at RJourney Clarksville RV Resort, "the staff were very friendly and directed us to our site via golf cart."

Clean facilities: Campers consistently praise well-maintained amenities. "They have a decent-sized fenced dog area that's on the side of a hill," notes a reviewer of Outback RV Resort. Another visitor comments, "Very, very well maintained facilities. Clean bath house."

On-site dining options: Some campgrounds offer food service. "The campground had a small store with supplies, a restaurant with a menu available (though we cooked our own food)," reports a visitor about Grand Ole RV Resort.

What you should know

Interstate and industrial noise: Sound disturbances affect multiple parks. "Only downfall are the trains that operate 24/7 directly adjacent to the grounds. Trains rolling by at 3 am is not how I like to spend my night," warns a camper at Grand Ole RV Resort. At Clarksville RV Resort, a visitor cautions, "It was also very noisey across the street from some rock/cement quarry."

Seasonal availability: Some campgrounds have limited operating schedules. Outback RV Resort operates from "April 1 to November 1," while Birmingham Point runs from "March 15 - November 15."

Site conditions during rain: Weather impacts can affect comfort at certain locations. "Site 1 and 2 flood when there is rain," notes a camper at Eagles Nest RV Park, while another mentions at Birmingham Point, "We needed levelers on the door side."

Tips for camping with families

Look for kid-friendly features: Research facilities before booking if traveling with children. "They have play equipment for kids and a pool," mentions a reviewer at Outback RV Resort, though one camper at Grand Ole RV Resort warns, "They show a playset on their map and it was two regular swings and a baby swing. This was disappointing since we had little ones."

Consider weekday bookings: Weekend activity levels can vary significantly. At Nashville North, "Swimming pool was very busy and well maintained," notes one camper, suggesting weekends see higher usage.

Check restaurant options: On-site dining can simplify family meals. "They have a laundry center, store, new playground, pool, dog play area (Kamp K9), checkers, ladderball, and shuffleboard," reports a Nashville North visitor, indicating multiple amenities beyond just camping.

Tips from RVers

Arrive early for better site selection: Timing affects availability of optimal spots. "This pull through is a large half moon. It was difficult to get straight on the rig but we made it work for an overnighter. We would not recommended trying to anything longer than a 38' rig into the site due to the turn to get out," advises a Birmingham Point camper.

Verify hookup capabilities: Services vary between sites at most campgrounds. "We needed to flush each tank well, as we were heading to our home base near St. Louis. The water pressure was good at 50 psi and we got 3 bars 5G," reports a visitor to Clarksville RV Resort.

Know your dimensions: Some RV parks have specific size constraints. "The gravel site with a picnic table and fire pit was long enough for our 39' 5th wheel and our F-450," notes an Outback RV Resort camper, providing helpful context about accommodations for larger rigs.
