"We cannot say enough great things about this property and the hosts. First, this stunning location is nestled in an aspen forest on top of a mountain overlooking Florence and in the other direction overlooking Skagway Reservoir and Pike's Peak. We spent our mornings with coffee overlooking the breathtaking views, spent our days hanging out at the reservoir, walking through the forest and magical acreage and then finishing the night next to a fire before cuddling up in the tent(with heater). Rachel and Jeff are wonderful hosts who provided some history of the land, kept our adventure shed full of firewood and would greet us with smiles. I highly recommend renting the adventure shed! It comes with paddle boards, games, bikes and endless firewood. All in all, there was no other way I would want to spend my 40th birthday. We will be back again and already booked another weekend! This was a delightful experience for us. There are sites for every type of camper: tent, trailer, RV, glamping and cabins. This is a somewhat small but well maintained private campground with lots of simple amenities. All is the wooded back-in sites have full hook-ups (30A) and there are pull-thru sites (Ithink they are still 30A). The center wooded area is perfect for tents. A small dog park gave our girls the chance to run free for a little. There is a shower house with bathrooms that are well maintained. Trash is kept tidy and didn’t smell even on the 97 degree day. Very easy to access but no road noise (at least not at our site).

We have a 26’ trailer and stayed in site 18. It was near the end of the row and relatively quiet. We only wish we had a longer power cable. (Our next purchase!) Our port is at the back and the outlet was way up front. To reach, we had to set up near the front of the site which limited our parking. Just pointing that out for others who might be ill prepared too.

We were too far away to take advantage of WiFi which is fine, we just wandered up near the office to check our texts once daily. It might be more accessible if you are located closer to the office. No cell service for Verizon. Personally, I was happy to be unplugged for a couple of days!

Although we had a fire ban in effect, we were able to rent a propane fire pit from the office. Be super cautious and check fire restrictions for Custer County. (http://oem.custercountygov.com/firecon.htm)

Aspen Acres has a lot more staff than I expected and they patrolled frequently. Very helpful and friendly.

5 minutes from Bishops Castle and 10 minutes from Lake Isabel ($7 day use fee). Easy drive up from I-25 but fairly steep in spots if that is problematic.

This place is the epitome of ghetto , 98% of residents live there permantly ,the night we got there the water was frozen at the hydrant we didn't have water for weeks the next day we were headed  to shower and the manager Ronda was yelling from her house totally intoxicated saying we can't use the showers they are for cabin and tent sites only but the website advertised restrooms and showers but they don't tell you till you get there. The owner Duane came knocking late at night also intoxicated or high maybe both yelling saying not to hook up to the hydrant untill we winterize it,  this hydrant was a shared hydrant with the trailer behind us and we learned they have been living there for over a year they should have been responsible for winterizing it . We had to drive 10miles to the truck stop and pay 12.00 to shower. We were there for a job the other RV parks were 30 miles out of town. We also we informed that that hydrant has froze several times in the past and they were trying to blame us  and said we owe them 275.00  and we never had water the total duration of our stay .Duane is a crook . They wanted to charge some one for their negligence . Drive the extra miles to the KOA they are professional and care about the condition of the park .

Arkansas Point Campground at Lake Pueblo State Park is the closet to the state park office and marina. It cost $10 for a park pass plus you make your site reservations online. It offers 30/50 amp electric sites, with water fill stations throughout the campground. There is a dump station just as you enter the campground as well. Each site has a covered picnic table and some sites have a shade tree.

Bathhouses are very clean and offer hot showers. It does show a playground at this campsite but it has since been removed.

If you are going to take your boat and fish you can stay on the water 24 hours/day; however, to ente/exit the water your boat must go through inspection, so you want to be out of the water while the inspection site is still open.

You can enjoy swimming off the beach area or choose to go hiking one of the many many trails they have.

We stayed in site #62 and it offered shade as well as a water station next to it. This is a pull thru site. We would definitely stay here again.
