      Mississinewa Lake Campground

      Good campgrounds for boating!

If you want woodsy, private sites, don’t come here. Most are grassy and sunny. There are many areas where the sites back up close to each other. 2 rows of full hookup. Plenty of 50 amp and many good tent sites. Beach in the park but not walking distance. Great mooring area for campers. Don’t try to pull-thru in any sites that are back-in. DNR will come around repeatedly and ask you to turn around...after you are already set up. Disc golf, trails, store near the beach, cabin rentals.

      Blue Water Campground

      Our stay at bluewater

The staff is extremely friendly, and try to accomadate with anything you could need. The campesites are fairly large with gravel pads. They offer water and electric hook-up for 30&50 amps. There is not a sewer hook up but they do offer a weekly pump out for a small fee and a dump station on the way out. The pool, ponds, playground and pavillion are all within walking distance from almost any site.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Plymouth

      August 2018: Meh

Please know this is mostly a mobile home park and long term rvs. It’s kept up decent but some shoddy add ons and sheds throughout. there are I’ve 900 sites and more than 95% are permanent. It’s between a very busy freeway and very busy railroad track. Cute little lake with lots of activities for kids and themed weekends. I was abke to run 3 miles aroind the park. Full hook ups are only up to 30 amps. Close to Chicago. We will not be returning due to noise but other than that, it’s ‘meh’.

Grand Lake St. Marys State Park Campground

      Nice quiet campground

      The pull through area is very cramped; more like a parking lot; the campground is quiet; family friendly; no golf carts all over;

      Fireside Resort RV Park

Close to highway and event center

This is a decent place. Very close to the event center and auto center where they have alot of big events. Its a gravel lot in the middle of a field but they have all the normal amenities. Even have a pool and propane fills. Alot of the people in here during the winter are people living long-term for seasonal work. Not the best rigs so you wont feel bad if yours isnt new or clean. Strong highway noise but overall a quite place

      Salamonie River State Forest

      Small Gem, Big Shine!

I return to Salamonie River State Forest year after year because it truly feels like Northeast Indiana’s best-kept secret. This 21‑site primitive campground offers peaceful seclusion, 4 pit toilets, and two water sources—including a spring‑fed spigot with crisp, cold, delicious drinking water. I’ve stayed at several sites, with Site 18 and Site 20 as favorites. Tent‑friendly, small camper-friendly, pet‑friendly, and just $15/night, it sits beside horse trails, hiking routes, and great fishing. A small campground with big shine—highly recommended.

      Johnny Appleseed Campground

      Great location

The location here is pretty crazy it’s right in the middle of town but feels like a park there is a river and wooded area that makes you feel like you are in nature but you are just a parking lot away from an arena and college. There is a playground and a dog park. Here as well as ball diamonds. This is a great family friendly place but is very very busy during the season.

      Wildwood Outdoor Escape

      Surprisingly pleasant!

This was our second stay here…campground is surrounded by corn fields but park itself is quite picturesque with mature trees, a lake, and very well-manicured grounds. Many sites have long-term occupants but overnighters just as welcome. Main bathrooms are up front and clean and modern while rustic but quite nice enough toilets located at back end. A small pool, mini-golf and recreation center also on site. Owners are nice people who go extra mile to provide a friendly, family atmosphere for residents.

      Indian Springs Campground

500 Campsites and ONE BATH HOUSE!

This campground has around 500 sites and ONLY ONE BATH HOUSE! It is cramped and is full of long term campers. It is geared toward kids with all kinds of bounce houses, etc. It is listed as a reaort but this is no resort. We paid more than the other sites we have stayed at in this area. So sorry we did but we did have trouble finding places in Indiana.

    What to do

Hiking trails: At Chain O' Lakes State Park Campground, trails connect multiple small lakes for day hikers and campers. "The park has great trails for hiking and biking. The bison exhibit and ranger programs are great too," notes one visitor to Ouabache State Park.

Water activities: J. Edward Roush Lake offers fishing and boating opportunities with seasonal considerations. "Regular campground with pit toilets. Electric and primitive sites available. Good bird watching spot. Lots of eagles," reports a visitor to Kil-So-Quah - J. Edward Roush Lake.

Fire tower climbing: Several parks feature observation points. "The bison enclosure is always fun to check out, and the last time we stayed I actually walked to the top of the restored fire tower to take in the view," writes a camper at Ouabache State Park.

Bird watching: Wildlife observation opportunities exist throughout the region. "Good bird watching spot. Lots of eagles. Nice place, there is gunfire noise from the range across the lake. Not bad though," mentions a visitor at Kil-So-Quah.

    What campers like

Quiet weekday camping: Mid-week stays offer more solitude at many campgrounds. "During the weekends it gets packed. Only 60 sites so show up early if you want one... During the week it's great. Hardly anyone here and so peaceful," writes a camper at Kil-So-Quah - J. Edward Roush Lake.

Connected bike paths: Cycling routes extend beyond park boundaries. "The paved bike trail in the park starts near the campground, and connects with a bike trail along the Wabash River that goes into nearby Bluffton, and is an easy ride," notes a visitor at Ouabache State Park Campground.

Winter camping options: Some campgrounds remain open year-round with heated facilities. "Love this place for winter camping. The campground comfort stations are heated all winter long," reports a visitor about Ouabache State Park.

Budget-friendly stopover: Some campgrounds offer economical options for travelers. "I give this three stars not because there's nothing really wrong about it. It's just a grassy parking lot with utilities and a corner grassy knoll with shade. $16/night with electric and water it's worth at least three stars," notes a traveler at Wabash City RV Park.

    What you should know

Cell service variations: Signal strength depends on specific location within campgrounds. At rv sites near Ossian, Indiana, coverage can be sporadic in wooded areas.

Water quality concerns: Some facilities report water discoloration issues. "The potable water is brown and smelly.. be sure to bring your water filter! But we did enjoy our weekend here," advises a camper at Ouabache State Park.

Wildlife encounters: Local fauna includes raccoons and various bird species. "Nice campsites and great hiking. The raccoons were pretty annoying though," reports a visitor at Ouabache State Park.

Check-in procedures: Some campgrounds have unique registration requirements. "You MUST check in at the Water Treatment Plant by 4PM. You do not need to have picked a site, yet. Complete the typical paperwork and you'll be given keys to unlock the electrical box and a key to turn on the water," explains a visitor at Wabash City RV Park.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground proximity: Select sites near play areas for convenience. "The camping spot was great. It was very close to the pool and playground. The sites were pull through which was nice for have young kids. Could sit at our spot and watch our kids at the playground," shares a visitor at Grand Lake St. Marys State Park.

Swimming options: Multiple facilities offer water recreation areas. "Nice swimming pool and pond. Fishing fun activities for Kids nice sized sites," reports a camper at River Trail Campground.

Educational programs: Several parks offer nature-focused activities. "We spoke with the naturalist and volunteered our time she was absolutely fantastic. I would definitely go back," writes a visitor at Chain O' Lakes State Park.

Season selection: Consider timing for optimal experience. "The campground is decent. There are no backpacking spots. There are a handful of paddle up camping spots that are very hard to reserve... Overall, a great place for families hiking with small children or those who camp just to relax," advises a visitor at Chain O' Lakes State Park.

    Tips from RVers

Electrical hookup variations: RV sites near Ossian, Indiana often have different outlet configurations. "Our electrical pedestal had no 30amp receptacle. If you have a 30amp plug, bring a 50amp adapter. There are two 20amp outlets available," notes a camper at Wabash City RV Park.

Extension cord requirements: Some utilities require additional equipment. "The pedestals are between sites, which aren't really close. You will need a long (30-40'?) extension cord suited to your amperage to reach the pedestal," advises a visitor at Wabash City RV Park.

Site selection for privacy: Some campground sections offer more seclusion than others. "Entering the camping area there is a lush grass opening with large campsites with water and electric hook ups for the RV folk... Continuing down the road you begin to enter the woods which is non electric sites with plenty of trees to make your weekend private," describes a visitor at Kil-So-Quah.

Seasonal site conditions: Weather affects ground conditions at rv campsites near Ossian. "Large spacious sites with cement or paved spots. Can be muddy after rain," reports a visitor at Grand Lake St. Marys State Park.
