Best RV Parks & Resorts near Aurora, IN

Follow The River RV Resort in Florence offers full-hookup RV sites with 50-amp service on concrete pads suitable for big rigs. The campground features water, sewer, and electric connections at each site with plenty of pull-through options for larger motorhomes. "The spaces are gravel and level. The campground is mostly RV with a few private apartments/houseboat," noted one visitor about the nearby Indiana Springs area. Northern Kentucky RV Park in Crittenden provides 80 RV sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service, while Winton Woods Campground in Cincinnati features year-round accessibility with 50-amp hookups and big rig friendly sites. Swiss Haven RV Resort in Vevay similarly accommodates larger recreational vehicles with full hookups.

Most RV parks in the region maintain sanitary dump stations, though availability varies seasonally with many campgrounds operating from spring through fall. Tucker's Landing provides sewer and water connections but lacks shower facilities or restrooms, requiring self-contained RVs. Cell service throughout the area is generally reliable near major highways but may diminish in more rural locations. Highway noise and train sounds affect some parks, particularly Northern Kentucky RV Park where one camper mentioned "a bit of noise from highway and passing trains." Reservations are strongly recommended during summer weekends and fall color season when occupancy rates typically reach capacity. Parks near Cincinnati provide convenient access to urban amenities while maintaining proximity to the Ohio River for recreation.

    Winton Woods Campground

Great county park in a beautiful setting!

This is a great county park! It has a nice “campground” feel set in a large pine trees and wide sites but has 50-amp full hook-up sites. The campground is set in Winton Woods County Park which is about 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

There are 123 campsites including RV sites, tent pads, and camping cabins. Most RV sites are back-in but there are 12 pull-thru sites. There is a myriad of sites here from 50-amp full hook-up with paved pads and patios to 30-amp gravel sites. Sites have fire pits, picnic tables. Campsites in the front section (1F – 25F and 1R – 12R) are big rig-friendly with paved roads wide enough to easily maneuver. All utilities worked accordingly and were well-placed in the site. Our 4G Verizon phone got good reception and we were able to get plenty of antenna television channels. The online reservation system is easy to use and gives you an array of sites/cabins to choose from. Be aware that lots of people use this park on the weekends so it can get quiet busy.

There are lots of amenities at this park. Within walking distance of the campground is Winton Woods Lake which has a harbor with boathouse, snack bar, boat rentals and playgrounds. There are miles of paved and rustic hiking trails. There is a camp store, dump station, laundry, restrooms/shower house, boat/kayak launch, and fishing access. Located in the park is a golf course and horseback riding center.

You are within a few miles of everything … grocery, gas/diesel, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. The park is close to I-275 and I-75 making for easy access to major interstates. One place you should not miss is Jungle Jims international grocery and market. This totally eclectic, sprawling "grocery store" has so much to offer. They pride themselves on providing unique foods from all over the world. I could spend hours in this store perusing the isles of which are sectioned off into country and region. There are entire sections on Indian foods, wines, cheeses that you have never heard of, and tanks with live fish ready for the filleting. Also within close proximity is Greaters -one of the country's best ice cream shops (according to Food and Wine). Just down the street is a new person favorite sandwich shop called Izzy's which is famous for their corned beef and delicious potato pancakes.

Loved this park because you have a very nice campsite with 50-amp full hook-up site with lots to do in the area. Our site was level and the roads were easy to navigate in our motorhome. The paved trail around the lake was great for walking/jogging and perfect for launching our kayaks.

We would definitely stay here again.

Camping is in one of two areas; Wooster primitive that has a dozen sites close to the lake and Shale electric consisting of 142 gravel pad sites with 30 amp and 8 premium paved 50 amp sites. Sites are a mix of tree covered and open with most be relatively level providing a picnic table and fire pit. Potable water spigots dispersed throughout the campground and several bathhouse facilities and dump station for your convenience. Two Rivers Campground

    Very Nice!

Two Rivers is a fairly new, city run campground close to I-71 and adjacent to the Ohio and Kentucky Rivers. All sites are FHU, about half of them are pull-through and all are on level pads for the rig with adjoining concrete pads with picnic tables. There is a playground for kids, a very nice bathhouse and free WiFi. We’ve stayed here on our way to and from Nashville and are doing so again this year. Can’t recommend enough!

Winton Woods Campground Hamilton County Park

    Surprising City Campground

Winton Woods Campground was a clean and quiet campground that we were pleasantly surprised to find. The campground fills up fast and there were plenty of shaded electric sites close to the lake. There were also plenty of pull through sites for the big rigs. However if you’re good at backing, there were a good many deeper sites that you could use. Close by is Bass Pro Shops so you could pickup anything you forgot. Only one shower house for the entire campground though.

    Madison City Park

    Great Ohio River Views

This spot is perfect for immersing yourself in the local culture of the historic river town of Madison , Indiana. The campground is managed by the City of Madison and is located on prime Ohio River waterfront. The campground offers 34 class A sites; 24 have 30 amp and 10 providing 50 amp electric. Dump station available along with restrooms and showers. No tent camping allowed. Sites 1 through 18: Daily$40, Weekly$240. Sites 19 through 34: Daily$30, Weekly$180. The campground is seasonal running from April through October and reservations can be made in advance by email only madisoncampground98@yahoo.com. Sites are very close together with little privacy however; location is the trade off. You can easily walk to everything; river walk, local dining hot spots, grocery, wineries, brewery, antique stores and several historic sites. The towns architecture is not to be missed...so take a stroll around town. Many activities take place along the riverfront during the season; so plan ahead to make sure a site is available. This is not about the campground...it's all about the location.

    Versailles State Park Campground

    Nice family campground

Versailles State Park is a clean and family friendly camping destination that we enjoying visiting. There are three separate main campgrounds here; A B and C. C is our favorite because it is small, and mostly level lots (except the far end) with mature trees. B is larger with level lots, but usually crowded. A is very hit or miss as far as level sites. It’s very tight back in there, but more wooded private sites. It’s usually not too rowdy here unless you visit on a booked holiday weekend. The pool is nice, and the kids love the slides and diving board. They also have a fenced in area for small children with a baby pool and sprinkler. They do sell concessions at the pool as well. There are some nice trails and a lake where you can fish and kayak. I would also note that there is only one dump station for the three campgrounds so there can be quite the line when trying to get out of there on a Sunday afternoon. We love the Halloween festivities! It is so fun to see all the costumes and the decorations all over the campground. We plan to make it an annual tradition! Overall the park is very nice and I would definitely recommend to camping families.

Guide to Aurora

RV campgrounds near Aurora, Indiana are situated along the Ohio River valley at approximately 500 feet elevation. The area experiences four distinct seasons with humid summers and moderate winters, making spring and fall particularly popular for camping. Many campgrounds in this region offer river access for fishing and boating activities, with seasonal operations typically running March through November.

What to Do

Fishing opportunities: At Follow The River RV Resort, campers can enjoy both lake and river fishing. "There is a lake to fish in, and a nice pool. Very friendly staff. Kids playground," notes Vicki N. The resort provides water access at most sites for convenient cleanup after fishing activities.

Kayaking and water recreation: Thousand Trails Indian Lakes features several fishing ponds and a larger lake with beach area. "There are several fishing ponds and a lake with a beach area. There are 2 pools, and a golf course," explains Debbie S. Rental equipment is available seasonally at some locations.

Hiking trails: Three Springs Campground offers multiple nature trails through wooded terrain. "It has 3 beautiful hiking trails. It has a small fishing pond with a beautiful fountain that provides a neat camping experience," according to Three Springs Campground reviews. Most trails are under 2 miles and rated easy to moderate difficulty.

What Campers Like

Clean facilities: The bathroom facilities at Follow The River RV Resort receive consistent praise for cleanliness. "The bathrooms having regular working toilets and showers. The bathrooms are very nice," shares Jessica G. Bathhouses are centrally located and accessible from most campsites.

Spacious sites: Tucker's Landing provides concrete pads that accommodate larger RVs. "Each plot also has it's own concrete slab for your RV, so you don't have to worry about parking in the mud," notes Daniel G. Sites include full hookups with visible utilities that are well maintained.

Quiet atmosphere: Winton Woods Campground offers peaceful sites nestled among trees. "I stayed at an electric only spot nestled in the trees by the lake. I was the only RV in this section all week and it was so peaceful and private," writes Tamar. The campground maintains quiet hours that are regularly enforced.

What You Should Know

Seasonal operation: Most rv campgrounds near Aurora, Indiana operate from spring through fall. Thousand Trails Indian Lakes specifies: "The property owners were gracious enough to allow us to extend our stay beyond the normal 14 day limit for our personal safety," according to Brandie B., highlighting the typical two-week maximum stay limit during normal operations.

Reservation requirements: A.J. Jolly Park & Campground and other popular campgrounds fill quickly during peak seasons. "Sites are level your rig. The lake is in view to each site. The tables are all concrete and big but useable," notes Bobby C. Reservations should be made 2-3 months in advance for summer weekends.

Site limitations: Some campgrounds have specific site challenges. "The spaces are gravel and level," according to visitor notes about the Indiana region. At A.J. Jolly, "Sites are gravel and not level the rest rooms are new and nice," reports Jeffrey D., indicating the need for leveling blocks at certain locations.

The park is located just 10 miles from the Ark Encounter educational attraction.

Weather preparation: Summer heat requires appropriate planning. "It is hot in June, so bring a canopy if your RV doesn't have one," advises Jessica G. about Follow The River RV Resort. Portable shade structures are permitted at most campgrounds in the region.

Tips from RVers

Utility connections: Tucker's Landing provides full hookups but lacks other amenities. "Sewage, water, and electrical were all surprisingly well maintained and clearly visible. Each spot had plenty of space for activities," reports Daniel G. Self-contained RVs are required as the park does not offer restroom facilities.

Cell service: Indian Lakes Campground provides reliable connectivity. "I have great service here with my T-Mobile 5g internet as well as my starlink," confirms Emerson F. Most campgrounds near major highways maintain strong cellular signals, though service may diminish in more rural locations.

Traffic noise considerations: Northern Kentucky RV Park in Crittenden has some ambient noise issues. "There was a bit of noise from highway and passing trains, but they weren't a big deal to us," explains Jenny C. Sites farther from the entrance typically experience less road noise.
