Best RV Parks & Resorts near Ozark, IL

Marion Campground & RV Park provides full hookup RV sites with 50-amp service near Interstate 57, making it convenient for overnight travelers. The campground features pull-through rv pads on gravel surfaces that accommodate big rigs, though the sites are positioned close together with limited privacy. ["The sites are very close together with no privacy. There are some pull-thru sites, which is convenient," noted one camper.] Duck Creek RV Park in Paducah, Kentucky offers water and electric hookups with 50-amp service, approximately 40 miles from Ozark. Several miles east, Cypress Lakes RV Park in Calvert City maintains 105 RV sites with full hookups open year-round, featuring picnic tables and trash service on each site.

Seasonal considerations affect availability throughout the region, with some parks like Birdsville Riverside RV Park operating only from March through November. RV dump stations are inconsistently available - Marion Campground provides sewer hookups at sites but some nearby parks only offer a central dump station. Cell service varies significantly across the Shawnee National Forest area surrounding Ozark. One visitor mentioned, "We have AT&T and had full bars, though we have a booster which may have contributed to strong signal." Most parks welcome pets with designated walking areas, though rules regarding campfires differ between facilities. Highway noise can be problematic at parks situated near interstates, particularly for those positioned close to I-57.

    Riverview Campground

    Beautiful Views

Riverview campground is a clean, quiet, family friendly campground. It overlooks the Ohio River and provides amazing views at sunset. The stargazing is also great. There are 30 amp and 50 amp sites with water, and a dump station is on site. Firewood is also provided. This was the perfect place to spend the weekend!

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park

    Old and small

The sites are very small but spread out. Our 35 ft class a barely fit. They do show length limits for sites and they definitely max limit. There is electric (30 amp) and water at the site but it was 75 ft from my sites. Extensions are needed. The staff is friendly and the roads are paved but there are signs directing where to go. Great bathrooms and plentiful. Also coin operated laundry. Fairly close to the freeway.

    Canal Campground- Lake Barkley COE

    And then some.....

Canal Recreation Area is right by Grand Rivers, Ky and Patti's Settlement. That right there is enough said as far as outdoor activities go. Then you have Canal Rec Area that just adds too the vacation.

Book early because the best sites stay full, but really they are all pretty good sites. The different areas cover just about anything you are looking for in a site from big rig pull through sites, tiered tent sites, water and beach access sites and boat ramp sites.

There is a trail within the campground to walk, a day use area, newer showerhouse/laundry facilities and dump stations. The area is large enough to jog, bike and golf cart. If your not interested in the nearby entertainment there is enough to do right on site to keep you occupied for your entire vacation be it a day or a week+

    Wayne Fitzgerrell State Park Campground

    Quiet camping convenient to I-57

Wayne Fitzgerald State Park is on Rend Lake, just off I-57 in Southern Illinois. It’s a great place for camping, fishing and bikes. It’s convenient for a short stop if you are traveling through, or as a destination. Although it’s right off the interstate there is no traffic noise. The campground has 40 tent sites and over 240 modern campsites, which offer electrical hookups, water and sewer facilities. Modern sites are $20/night, with 30/50 amp service. Primitive sites are $6. There is no internet. There are a few pull through sites.. there is lots of room and the sites appear to be level. There are 3 shower buildings. Many sites can be reserved online. There is a playground, and boat ramp. The park has hunting, fishing, camping, picnicking, horseback riding, hiking and boating. there is a golf course nearby and a lodge. Rend Lake is well-known for crappie, particularly in the early spring, as well as largemouth bass, channel catfish and bluegill.

Tween the Lakes RV Park & Campground

    No frills campground

This is a no frills campground just off of I-69/I-24. Check in was completed online and our site was marked with our name. All sites are full hook up with concrete pads. The county has a trail system that begin just a few hundred feet down the road that is a nice stretch of the legs. The skeleton on the motorcycle welcoming you was interesting, maybe we were really early or really late for Halloween. The campground is in need of some TLC of the grounds. There also seems to be a lot of long term residents.

    Fern Lake Campground

    Clean, close to Highway

We stopped here overnight twice because it was close to the highway and had pull-through sites to accommodate our 43’ fifth wheel. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was, and you couldn’t even hear the Highway. Our sites both times were in the gravel pull-through area, which seems to be intended for short stays. Even though we were close to the neighbors the sites are angled, so we had a beautiful view of a grassy area with trees out our living room windows. The longer stay sites had gravel and then grass in between the sites, and views of a lake. Very serene, pretty and clean campground.

    Shawnee Forest Campground

    EV Car Camping

I’m a novice car camper, sleeping in my Tesla Model 3. This campground is quiet and clean. The host is very friendly and knowledgeable. Each site has 50 amp electric service (so you can charge your EV with a NEMA 14-50 plug), fresh water, fire pits, and picnic tables. A nice stop to visit the Shawnee National Forest.

"A luxurious crowded but nice campsites older stalls cabins available great trails and maps available store and cowboy church. Permanent sites available," reports Alicia B.

What campers like

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Many campgrounds in the region operate on limited schedules. Birdsville Resort and Campground runs from "March 1 to November 30," requiring winter travelers to verify availability at year-round facilities.

Site arrangements: Site layouts vary significantly between parks. "The electric poles and water are shared between each site which means the odd number sites are back in, even numbers are pull in," explains Beth H. about waterfront sites at Birdsville Resort.

Highway noise: Traffic noise affects several campgrounds. "There was quite a bit of road noise to include the carwash adjacent to the CG during the day and early evening, but not bad later at night," reports one Cape Camping visitor.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: At Cape Camping & RV Park, flexibility helps with site conditions. "We had chose site A-1 when we made our reservations. However, after we got there we found site A-1 was very muddy from the recent rain. We were offered several sites in the A row and chose site A-2," advises MickandKarla W.

We got 3 bars each on Verizon and AT&T," reports a Cape Camping visitor, noting better connectivity than typical for the region.

Parking configurations: Some parks feature alternating site orientations. "Sites alternated pull in and back in sharing water and electric pedestals. Lots of space on door side of TT," explains Charles W. about the riverside camping arrangement at Birdsville, providing important setup information for larger rigs.
