Best RV Parks & Resorts near Swan Valley, ID

Swan Valley RV Park, formerly known as Buck's RV Park, provides full hookup sites from March through November with water, sewer, and electric connections. Most sites feature gravel pads suitable for larger motorhomes and travel trailers. Palisades Cabins & RV Park offers back-in sites with 30-amp service, picnic tables, and on-site amenities including showers and restrooms. "The sites are a little wonky. Don't expect a map or really any information when you arrive to check-in," noted one camper about Swan Valley RV Park, though they appreciated the quiet setting and reliable hookups. Teton Valley Resort in Victor features pull-through sites that accommodate big rigs with full hookup capabilities, including water, electric, and sewer connections.

Pull-through sites are available at several parks throughout the region, though availability becomes limited during peak summer months when travelers visit nearby Grand Teton National Park. Most RV parks near Swan Valley maintain gravel sites requiring some leveling, with dump stations available either on-site or at nearby facilities for a fee. Cell service varies significantly across the valley, with stronger signals in developed areas and weak to non-existent coverage in more remote locations. During winter months, most RV accommodations close, with limited year-round options available within 50 miles. Pet policies generally allow dogs with standard leash requirements, and several parks offer propane refill services. As one reviewer mentioned about Palisades Cabins & RV Park, "Nice restrooms and showers. Laundry small but clean and neat. Beautiful gazebo and fire pit."

    Alpine North Loop Campground

    Small & Clean

Host is amazing! Campgrounds are good sizes and accommodates Travel trailers and fifth wheels. Does have group camping. No water hookup, no electricity and no showers. There is noises from the vehicles on the road nearby. It is close to the roads. Pet friendly.

Colter Bay RV Park at Colter Bay Village — Grand Teton National Park

    Idyllic Beauty Awaits

Coulter Bay Campground is located on Jackson Lake just across from the Grand Tetons. It an incredibly beautiful place to camp.

The camp grounds are a bit tight especially if you stay in the RV Park. We stayed in the campsite side and all the sites are either campsite or pull-through for RV.

If you're an RV'r take note: not all sites are created equal so make sure your rig will fit on the site that you reserve.

Dump stations are clean and well maintained as are the sites. If you get a site with hook-ups be very careful about how you back-in so the you don't damage the utilities.

This is a very popular RV park and, besides it's idyllic beauty it has Cabins, a general store, a convenience store with gas, there's a propane refill station, showers and a laundry-mat, as well as a restaurant on site.

... and there are lots of great hiking trails and opportunities for taking great photos.

All-in-all you and your family are really going to love this campground.

P.S Did I mention that its only 18min to the south entrance to Yellowstone and even more idyllic beauty? ... yeah you gotta go there!

    East Table Campground

    Access to the Snake River

Stayed here on Sept 18, 2024. Paid $10 with senior pass. Pretty campground. Lots of pine trees. Some pull-throughs and some back-ins. Gravel campground road; may be tight in places for big rigs. Sites are dirt surface. Some leveling required. Campground accommodates tents, car camping, vans and RVs. Don't recommend large towables. Hammock camping possible. More than one vault toilet; reasonably clean and stocked. Hand water pumps, but shut off. Trash dumpsters, but locked. Some sites have easy access to the Snake River for fishing. Each site has a table, bear box, metal fire ring, and grill. Highway noise, loud at times. $20 is too high for a national forest campground fee when the water is shut off and the trash dumpsters are locked. Site 9 is large but received some odor from the nearby vault toilet. Campground host was friendly. This campground is probably a destination campground for fly fishing on the Snake River; otherwise, it's just okay for an overnight stay.

Gros Ventre Campground — Grand Teton National Park

    Beautiful

This campground sits right outside Grand Teton National Park. It is a beautiful campground and quiet. I had a handicapped spot next to the bathroom and had electric hookups. No water at the site, no showers in the restroom area. There is a dump station on the way out - you have to reserve it. Paths to walk your dogs, friendly staff. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site; they do sell firewood there. I was fortunate enough to be able to book a spot just a few weeks in advance during the busy summer season. Highly recommend this campground if you are visiting the Grand Tetons.

    Yellowstone Lakeside RV Park

Friendly owner and nice place to stop a short distance from Idaho Falls

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and having been fairly remote for a while, needed to hit a few big box stores to stock up in things. The CG is undergoing and expansion and is the area we stayed in, which got rather sloppy when it rained. We were in site W-5 for 2 days in late July. This area is all gravel and only a few of the sites were complete enough to be open. The sites all looked very level, but are open. All of the pull-through sites, existing and expansion, are oriented such that every other pair pull through in opposite directions and share utilities, which results in slide-outs only being a few feet apart in most cases. The new back-in sites along the periphery are roomier in between. There is a little road noise from US-20, but not excessive. AT&T coverage good, with 4 Bars of LTE with service up to 14.5 MB/s. They have a tower right across the highway. The CG WiFi was decent with speeds up to 1.8 MB/s, but generally in the 100s of MB/s. We were able to get DISH coverage on all three western satellites at our site. There were 13 OTA channels to be had with our fixed omni antenna.

Signal Mountain Campground — Grand Teton National Park

    Beautiful location

Beautiful campground in Grand Teton National Park. Very close to the iconic Oxbow Bend. The sites are spacious and mostly level. Some sites have electricity. There is a dump station in the area, and potable water you can fill tanks with. The sites are not very long so most trailers need to detach from the tow vehicle. The campground sits right on Jackson Lake. Deer, elk, and foxes can often been seen in the area. The bathrooms were clean with running (very cold) water. There were no hand dryers or towels in the bathrooms which seemed strange but at least there was heat. There are public showers but they were closed for the season when I stayed. I had spotty service with Verizon. The nearby Lodge has a nice restaurant, gift store and small general store. There was also a small sink for visitors to dump gray water.

    Wolf Den RV Park

    Small, very clean campground

Meticulously cared for family owned and run campground with log cabins. Many pros to this campground... Nice wide sites, most pull through, clean showers and laundry room. The people who run it are super friendly and helpful. Great liquor store and great food truck attached to the grounds. great hook ups, reception and even better WiFi. Only cons are that it is just off Hwy 89, but you don't hear road noise at night. No dog park and is over an hour to Grand Teton and Jackson Hole. We did find great hiking only a few minutes from the campground. We would definitely recommend this place. The owners are constantly out doing improvements, which impressed us a great deal

Colter Bay RV Park at Colter Bay Village — Grand Teton National Park

    Beautiful views of Tetons

Wow I have fallen in love with this campground. We stayed in the Rv area with full hook-ups and a good sized site which was gravel with a picnic bench and surrounded by shade. There was no fire pit but they did offer some close to the beach which is a minute away from our campsite. The only WiFi and cell service is at the bar and laundry area but it’s kind of nice to just step away from them. There is a gift shop, grocery store, laundry with showers, visitor center, gas station, propane fill, pizza parlor(yummy), bar/restaurant, and a marina offering boat and kayak rentals(1st come 1st serve). There are tons of activities to do in the area along with hiking trails, rentals, guided fishing, wildlife viewing, photo ops everywhere and A FAMILY OF BLACK BEARS that frequent the area. There is also jr ranger classes and religious services on Sunday. Our family truly enjoyed our stay and would come again

Colter Bay Campground at Colter Bay Village - Grand Teton National Park

Not bad for a National Park CG

Trying to reserve a site during the first summer following COVID lockdown was tricky and required us to stay in multiple standard non-electric sites over the course of five days. While our trailer arrangement didn’t require electricity and water, in hindsight it would have been worth trying to stay in the separate full hookup section of the campground.

The sites are mostly pull through which is fine as long as your site is on the passenger right (passenger) side of the one-way road. Otherwise, your living quarters side will be facing the road instead of the inner campsite. Due to emergency evacuation policy, camp staff/rangers prohibit you from parking your rig against the flow of traffic.

The bathrooms are dated but typical of a big national park. Showers are not provided at the bathhouse; you have to pay for them at the central Colter Bay visitor center/store.

Sites (the pull through) are mostly level, but not true for tent pads within the interior of the sites. A lot of the sites in loop A seemed to have suffered moderate erosion resulting in exposed roots.

Cell service is essentially non-existent and only available at the visitor center.

Strict on checkout times, but that’s understandable with the number of people trying to get into the park.

CG is centrally located to make for a relatively easy travel time to Jenny Lake or north to Yellowstone.

Guide to Swan Valley

Swan Valley, Idaho sits at approximately 5,500 feet elevation at the western edge of the Palisades Reservoir along the Snake River. Summer temperatures typically range from 45-85°F with cool evenings even during peak season. Many campgrounds in the area offer limited seasonal operation from May through October due to winter snowfall that makes access difficult during colder months.

What to do

Mountain biking near Victor: Teton Valley Resort provides convenient access to trails. "We spent a few days here. Inexpensive with decent wifi and 5G Verizon coverage. Friendly staff. Extended my stay because it was so nice," noted one camper at Teton Valley Resort.

Kayaking on Palisades Reservoir: Launch points accessible from several campgrounds along Highway 26. "It was great good help and very well put together the snake River is very close and beautiful," mentioned a visitor about Palisades Cabins & RV Park.

What campers like

Dark sky stargazing: Areas away from town centers offer exceptional night viewing. "This park has very clean bathrooms, great showers, and grass so thick you don't need to wear shoes! Great setting, helpful staff and out in an area of dark skies," explained a camper at Palisades Cabins & RV Park.

Community activities: Some parks organize social events for guests. "My personal favorite… they have little s'more bags that they give you and do little community bonfires each night," shared a visitor at Alpine Valley RV Resort.

Mountain views in all directions: Surrounding peaks create panoramic scenery. "This is a brand new still under construction RV park with amazing views in all directions. They have great water pressure and very good WIFI," noted a reviewer at Alpine Valley RV Resort.

What you should know

Limited year-round facilities: Most campgrounds close during winter months. "I stayed here late winter and it looks like half the sites are closed in the winter. In addition to rv sites they offer full service cabins, dry cabins, and yurts," reported a camper at Teton Valley Resort.

Variable cell coverage: Signal strength changes significantly throughout the region. "If you're looking to hike Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Jackson's and Driggs/Darby, you will not find a better location to easily access all location," explained a visitor at Grand Teton RV Getaway.

Distance considerations: Allow extra driving time when planning activities. "This is a small RV Park with cabins. It is pretty but small. It it 53 miles to Jackson Hole, WY. The Good Sam site says it is 24 miles to Jackson Hole. So this could be a problem," warned a visitor about Palisades Cabins & RV Park.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Some parks offer dedicated play areas. "At first we were not sure about this campground based on location. We were pleasantly surprised! The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The park for the kids was perfect and the pool was open too!" reported guests at Snake River RV Park & Campground.

Pool facilities: Swimming options available at select locations. "This campground has a blend of cabins mixed with the RV sites so it has a ton of added value with the heated pool/hottub, laundry, showers looked decent," noted a camper at Teton Valley Resort.

Noise considerations: Some areas experience noise from roads or nightlife. "Don't tent camp here. The tent area is about 20 yards from an extremely loud bar. People are outside it yelling til after 2am. Awful," cautioned a tent camper at Greys River Cove RV Park.

Tips from RVers

Hookup configurations: Check utility placement before arrival. "The only problem with this park is the sewer electric water setup which was designed for classs c rvs and is too far back for class as. The owner assured us he was planning on fixing the problem this winter," noted a visitor at Rusty Spur RV Park.

Pull-through availability: Limited during peak season but available at many locations. "Large, flat gravel park like many in the west. Roads, lots clearly marked. Beautiful, clean individual bathrooms like in a house, including tub-showers!" reported a visitor at Yellowstone Lakeside RV Park.

Site leveling requirements: Many parks have gravel pads requiring adjustment. "The sites all looked very level, but are open. All of the pull-through sites, existing and expansion, are oriented such that every other pair pull through in opposite directions and share utilities," explained a full-time RVer about Yellowstone Lakeside RV Park.
