East Table Campground

Within Targhee National Forest, East Table Campground sits along the Snake River corridor where pine trees provide natural shade across 20 sites. The US Forest Service facility operates from late May through September, charging $15-25 per night depending on site type and visitor passes. Gravel roads wind through the campground, though Fred S. notes they "may be tight in places for big rigs."

Sites feature dirt surfaces with bear boxes, fire rings, and picnic tables, while vault toilets serve campers throughout the property. Water spigots are distributed across the campground, though seasonal shutoffs occur outside peak months. Several sites provide direct river access for fishing, with reviews highlighting productive fly fishing opportunities. Highway noise carries through the area, particularly during busy travel periods.

The campground fills quickly during summer months, especially sites closest to the water. Cell service remains spotty for major carriers, making this location less suitable for those requiring connectivity. A camp host maintains the facility and assists with site assignments. For regional camping options, visitors can explore campgrounds around Alpine or check nearby Station Creek Campground for additional Forest Service sites.

East Table works best for tent campers, smaller RVs, and anglers prioritizing river access over full amenities.

Many campers appreciated the helpful hosts and clean facilities along the Snake River, with good fishing access. Highway noise and pricing concerns were common complaints, though riverside sites offer scenic value.

Amazing place

The campsite is gorgeous, but you do have to pay! Some sites are first come first serve but some are reserved ahead of time. Beautiful view

Access to the Snake River

Stayed here on Sept 18, 2024. Paid $10 with senior pass. Pretty campground. Lots of pine trees. Some pull-throughs and some back-ins. Gravel campground road; may be tight in places for big rigs. Sites are dirt surface. Some leveling required. Campground accommodates tents, car camping, vans and RVs. Don't recommend large towables. Hammock camping possible. More than one vault toilet; reasonably clean and stocked. Hand water pumps, but shut off. Trash dumpsters, but locked. Some sites have easy access to the Snake River for fishing. Each site has a table, bear box, metal fire ring, and grill. Highway noise, loud at times. $20 is too high for a national forest campground fee when the water is shut off and the trash dumpsters are locked. Site 9 is large but received some odor from the nearby vault toilet. Campground host was friendly. This campground is probably a destination campground for fly fishing on the Snake River; otherwise, it's just okay for an overnight stay.

Too busy

We took a spin through this USFS campground but decided not to stay. The price seemed too high to us at $20. The campground was crowded and though there were plenty of sites available, there were just so many big groups of people who seemed to be set up for a long stay which gave the campground a noisy, busy vibe. The sites were nice though, lush and green and many of them right along the river. Sites were fairly private and included a bear box and picnic table and fire pit. There are pit toilets here, and trash dumpsters and a propane cylinder recycling bin (no other recycling available). Water spigots throughout the campground as well. No cell reception for either ATT or Verizon. There is a host on site.

Nice Basic Forest Campground

We drove through this campground but decided not to stay here. A) It’s $15/night and there is so much free camping around here and B) the sites felt very open and not at all private. Quite a bit of road noise as it is right off of the main highway. It’s a nice campground, however, and there is river access.

Each site has a bear box, picnic table, and a fire pit. Firewood is for sale from the host at $6/bundle. There are handicap accessible unisex vault toilets throughout. Hand pump water here as well.

There are large trash dumpsters as well as a recycling bin for the little green propane canisters, which was very cool to see! No other recycling, however.

Very weak ATT and Verizon, and no TMobile.

Last minute find!

The campground was full but we still thought we'd check to be sure there wasn't a last minute cancellation. The camp host was so kind. She had one more spot available across the road that was a group sight. She gave it to us! Although the site itself was pretty much a gravel parking lot (we were tent camping), there was water available, a fire ring, and VERY clean vault toilets/bathrooms.

Easy access to Alpine Canyon

1/2 a mile from the West Table boat ramp. Too small for 5th wheels and big motorhomes - more appropriate for tents and Sprinter-sized motorhomes. Can hear the highway. Campground host made a solid effort to manage the Labor Day deluge.

Group campsites are on the north side of the highway, individual campers should use the south side of the highway.

One of the best campsites

Affordable, clean vaulted restrooms, beautiful river view and walk from site 6. Bear boxes, fire pits and sturdy picnic table. River fishing was good here. Not too far from Hoback Market which has just about everything you need or may have forgotten for your trip.

If you’re attached to your electronics and are in need of WiFi and cell service this probably not the spot for you.

We loved the campsite, ended up staying longer than expected. We were supposed to stay inside Grand Teton National Park but found nothing quite comparable to what we had here.

Also wanted to point out that Andrea, the camp host, was extremely informational, approachable and just an overall sweet lady.
